Which final did you enjoy more: two veteran foes with 18 Slams to their name and something to prove, or two debutants with nothing to lose?

A0 2010

The RG Final was too soft for my taste, almost in slow motion

You're absolutely right. But will anyone remember Stosur vs Schiavone other than the WTF factor? I much preffered the AO final for the drama.

Both were light years better than the 2009 Finals  So both are winners in my book.

So far we're 2/2 for two different yet very interesting Finals.

Both were good finals, can't really decide. One thing is for sure though, both these finals were the best slam finals in a long time.

It's a good question. Both were undoubtedly very good finals. But of course very different, with the AO pitting the last decades two best players against each other and RG featuring the most unexpected final in 30+ years. What the two finals had in common was that they were both competitive and both of a high quality.

So I'd say it comes down to taste as to which one was better. Do you prefer to see the elite slugging it out with each other for Grand Slams or do you prefer to see hugely unexpected underdogs fighting for their moment of glory? For me I love the unexpected and to see Francesco seize the day yesterday was a beautiful so I'd would go for RG in a second but I totally recognise for others the AO would much more to their liking.

What I think most people would agree about though is that both these finals dwarf any of the Slam finals we got last year and it is nice to be discussing finals in terms of which was better rather than which was worse which had mostly been the case with Slam finals for a few years now.
