View Full Version : Why don't men wear visors ?

I can only remember Andy Roddick wearing a visor in 2004 but stopped because his friends made fun of it.

Visors suit me way more than caps do and I want to wear one, but why is it that men don't wear them ?

Unfortunately, I think it's just because it's not the "manly" thing to do, if you know what I mean; but then again a lot of gold players where them.

I assume guys don't wear visors cause their hair is too short. I personally find caps uncomfortable and the idea of all that sweat in the cap is frankly kind of nyasty.

:wavey: SO i think u should just wear what u want. don't live according to other people's expectations.

Didn't Andy Roddick used to wear visors? I think his coach told him to ditch it at some point.

I think he suited them, whilst he still had an abundance of hair:lol:

Why are visors better suited to people with long hair ?

I don't have long hair - all all, yet I still look wayy better in visors than caps. My head is too big for caps :o:help:

I assume women wear visors so that their hair can go through the hole at the top.

But if you look way better in visors what exactly is the problem?

I wear visors. I'm a guy...it's no big deal, you just look like Fred Couples or another golfer. I'm comfortable, it keeps my vision alright, it shouldn't matter.

Why don't men wear visors? Because visors are wimpy, that's why. Next topic, please.

Visors don't provide any sun protection.

I would imagine playing while wearing a visor is more advantageous than wearing a cap as you're letting your head breathe, keeping cool and you avoid that cloggy, sweaty feeling you get with your hair if playing in very hot conditions.
I guess there is just a general consensus on the ATP tour that it is considered "feminine" as so any wta players wear visors now, which is sad of course.

They have a peak which is the same amount of sun protection as a cap.

Isn't the whole top of your head fully exposed to the sun though?

Sure. I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing though.

He's still working the denim skirt look, duh.

I assume that male players aren't as bothered about their hair as female players are. It's easy to wash short hair to get rid of the sweat and dirt, whereas it's more of a pisstake to wash longer hair to get rid of the sweat and dirt so i assume it just makes the job easier. I'm not entirely sure though as I don't wear a hat or a visor.

A visor is fucking useless when you're bald like me (or balding). I do think the amount of hair you have makes a difference.

And yes, protecting the crown of your head is actually a good way of avoiding heat exhaustion and worse. It's the same deal as to why you actually stay cooler with a shirt on that you are shirtless on a hot day.

Men also tend to sweat more, and caps, at least for me, do a better job of absorbing sweat that either visors or headbands (I wasn't always bald, you know).

It may also just be a fashion thing, but I think there's practical side that has to do with yeah, the women usually have longer hair piled on top of their heads and the men don't, plus the care issues. A lot of the women seem to go back and forth.

Lena's cute in caps. :hearts:

I wear a visor....it doesn't matter. I like the fact that it's able to move up or down my head, depending on the sun needs, and I have buzz cut hair. Bandanas don't do it for me, baseball caps easily fall of my head or don't block the sun enough. Headbands I could never get next to because they do nothing for the sun aspect, and my visor did just as good of a job with sweat.

Because not everyone suits caps.

THIS.

I'm a guy and am comfortable wearing visors while watching tennis. AND I COLLECT them too ;)

But wait..does exposing your crown on the sun triggers balding? :haha:
