3 wins?

Which tournament will be her fluke week?

Could somebody answer this question....IF you're sure.Does Birmingham qualifying start Saturday of next week during RG??The LTA website is as incompetent as you'd expect from a country whose tennis has gone into the toilet after having been pioneers....Won't even elaborate on the pathetic decline in 'Her Majesty's Empire'

That would be cool.. but unlikely.. Ana seems to get even worse at slams.

She has won 2 matches in her last 3 slams.

I'm actually hoping she loses in the first round.. she needs something to make her realize she is the one who has to change.

Yes.. I'm hoping for a really tough first round.. A good run proved to be bad.. since her last 4 matches have been perhaps the worst of a very bad year. So maybe a run of huge beatdowns is needed?

Maybe that's needed for Ana to get sick of losing..

I think she has fallen into a very dangerous comfort zone. She is just okay with losing now.. it's normal. So whenever things are tough she just tells herself that this is not her day, things are not there for her today.. and it makes all that much easier to let go and lose. She needs to put a stop to that.

We can safely assume that her parents did nothing to treat Ana's psychological problems when she was younger, but she still has lots of good qualities so that she could get herself on track with the right counselling

Yes.. that's true.. Ana is very insecure. And that's doom for a pro athlete.

Sometimes I think that not only will Ana never get her form back.. she might never play a really good match again. :sobbing:

Here's the original tune, based on the crash of an Air Florida passenger jet into the 14th St. bridge in Washington,D.C.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAxwr3ygP3s

If anyone thinks the end is near...and if JJ wins RG,then they can use the original music while mixing in the lyrics below--a few of the original lyrics are held over due to their appropriateness--with some club singer they know...then put it on a disc and mail it to Ana.Before the song is laid down on the disc, they should record the message,"Hi Ana,we're JJ fans, and we just wanna say 'no hard feelings' cuz you're no threat to us anymore now that Jelena has surpassed you...enjoy the song and early retirement from tennis,loser:p".............but ONLY do that if you believe that it'll motivate Ana and fire her up;if you fear that it'll drive her into hopeless sobbing, just forget it!!Slump-busting is our ultimate goal.....

Ana's Song

I don't know how to get through this hell,
used to be #1,now I'm only a shell,
clueless soul, clueless down to the core,
time to WAG,I can't take any more

Slacking(slacking),
I 'train' at the mall,
Slumping(slumping),
Headed for a huge fall,
AYE am aimless and lost
Cryout! My mind's trapped under ice

Paralyzed when I face a tough test,
Get my ass kicked and claim I did my best,
From deep thought I have broken away,
No one believes the bullcrap that I say,

WAGging(WAGging)
Waste my life with a prick,
Faking(faking),
Pretending I'm sick,
AYE invent injuries
Cryout! My mind's trapped under ice

Refrain:
SCREAM! For my soul
BRAIN! Mystified
SLUMP! Forever more
SCREAM! For my soul
BRAIN! Mystified
SLUMP! Forever more

No release from this moronic state,
For good luck I just sit here and wait,
Former haters now just laugh at me,
As my career signifies infamy,

Dreaming(dreaming),
Can't think straight at all,
Whining(whining),
That I can't see the ball,
AYE am dying to win
Cryout! My mind's trapped under ice

That was almost off the top of my head...with little reflection...so any musically talented folks are free to make lyrical changes:angel:.If the song pisses off and motivates Ana...then mission:accomplished!:yeah:

Golovin get the attention she wants.Girl is fast learner ,she knows if she wants to be present in the media- all she has to do, is to mention Ana.I don't understand all of the anger.Playing and beating Ana become personal thing for so many players. To retire against Ana is considered as lowest point of career. If their feelings are hurted because Ana has so much media attention, can you imagine what is gonna be when Kournikova shows up at Wimbledon this year playing doubles with Hingis?

I think the issue is.. when she was about to get feared, she started to suck so bad that instead of fearing her, players started to see a great opportunity to get a good scalp. Ana started to play at a low level at the most inconvinient time.

As for Golovin.. she should ask herself then why Ana beat her 5 times if she never played at a high level in the first place.. :spit:

I also think the fear factor has to do with other things.. not only with playing at a high level. It's also how you put yourself out there.. your posture towards others.. Ana is too insecure.. and too shy to be really feared in the locker room. Actually.. very very few players are really feared IMHO.. Serena.. Henin.. Sharapova in her good old days (I'm not sure about now, since the injury..).

i guess all this is true. ana did seem to have gotten into heads of some players simply because they were never able to beat her, but she was never intimidating because of the way she behaved. she never had that psychological advantage. being shy and insecure is not good for someone who is supposed to be a great competitor.

Yes.. And Ana is very much an open book IMHO.. you can see she is an insecure person.. you can see she is a people pleaser... you can see she is shy.. it's almost like she doesn't want to bother others. And players are always looking around.. Ana just never had in her to get that psychological advantage, to put herself in another place.

If you look at the feared players.. Henin is shy, for an example.. but she puts a distance between herself and others. Others like Serena and Sharapova.. they have that "I'm the best and you can't touch me" attitude. That is part of creating that intimidating aura.

Take Kuznetsova for an example.. She is a 2 time slam champion, capable of amazing tennis when she is on.. but I highly doubt she is feared or has ever been so.. She is the one everybody points out as a friend.. the funny and crazy one in the locker room. But she doesn't have that aura of intimidation either.. It's a lot about posture, about how you behave, how you place yourself.

Ana's facebook page so far has been a major disappointment. Her management is running almost all of it and just reposting the same stuff from her website. What is the point, really? The whole point of being on facebook or twitter is to write to or interact with fans, not her PR team/management posting stuff from her home page.

I think it's already too late. It's really not about age... it's about heart and head. There is already too much damage done to Ana's.

Heinz said in his latest interview.. and it's the ultimate truth. It's a lot easier to get to the top someone who has never been there, then to recover someone who had it and lost it. It demands a lot of self belief and a lot of character. Ana is insecure.. and those 2 years have shown she doesn't necessarily have a strong character.. quite the opposite. Any adversity whatsoever can get her to give up or whine on and on.. or both. So much trouble should get her to want it more and throw all her heart on court in any match.. instead her desire is at an all time low (and getting lower by the day IMHO) and her heart is probably on some golf course. I'm sure she will wake up some day.. but by then she will only have time to regret.

When I saw Ana winning RG 2 years ago I was also sure this was just the first of many slams she could and would win. I even remember someone said something like "Thank God she won the slam before the slump came!" after Ana lost to Coin.. and even then I thought that was stupid and she would soon be contending again. Time has proven that sentence right.. My only goal for Ana is to be able, some day, to watch ONE of her matches and honestly say.. "wow Ana, what an awesome performance!".

Of course hope is the last to die..

That's the thing.. she is not happy with tennis anymore.. She feels a lot happier when she is away.. it's really no surprise how she runs from it so often.

But I'm sure when time is gone, she will look back and regret.. She is just not realizing the whole consequences now.. she is still expecting things to turn around at any moment, falling from the sky at her lap.. she almost said so herself, when she stated she is always thinking things will come next week.. and next week.. and next week.

I just would like Ana to ask herself, how do you want to be remembered? Because as it stands right now, her legacy is that of a player who fell apart and slumped after winning the French Open. The #1 ranking and the RG title are no longer the two things people associate when they think of Ana. They associate her with negative stuff like like the fall from the top and this slump. Does she wan't to be known forever as the girl that let it all get away or as the girl who reached the summit, fell from it, but eventually got back to glory? She still has time to change things and save her legacy, I just hope she does it for her sakes, because as you said, she will one day regret it if she doesn't when she is watching television or reading the newspaper 15 years later and see another slumping player always being compared to her.

That's it Curtis.. spot on. She is being called the new Gaudio or the new Majoli.. sort of the new joke of a player who lucks out a win and then falls apart and disappears.. a few years from now, someone who crashes and burns can be called the new Ana Ivanovic.. in a very pejorative shameful way. And then Ana will look back and regret..

I think this season is over... we can expect her to play about 10 matches before she gives up on the year to go WAGing.

I do think she will regret it in the future, no matter what.. even if she is all happy away.. because I'm sure she wanted more for her.. not to be seen with shame.. She doesn't realize it now, she still expects it to turn around at any given moment.. but when time comes and she realizes it, she will look back and regret... it's an unavoidable feeling of unfulfillment.

It's not about practice and time she's spending on the tennis court.Remember Nole two years ago,Indian Wells 2008? Rafa was working hard,he was practicing for hours, and Novak was joking around with Tipsy and Troicki at that time.Nole practiced for 15 minutes and he beat Rafa 63 62 same day.
Ana has lost motivation...and there is mentality problem. When she became #1-that was the end of the road. And for other players that would be just the beginning.

I hope Ana is working on her movement. She can't afford to be out of balance on grass. Its going to be interesting (I hope not heartbreaking :sobbing: ) to see how Ana will play on grass. The points will be much shorter than clay and she really needs to step it up a notch and play some agressive tennis and not become too passive. That's a good question.. especially if we consider that outside of fluke runs in Brisbane and Rome, Ana has had those kind of results time and again this year as well.

AO: 2nd round.
IW: 2nd round (1st round bye).
Miami: 3rd round.
Stuttgart: 1st round.
Madrid: 2nd round (1st round bye).
RG: 2nd round.

So.. she is just continuing the bad trend she settled for herself last year.. so.. will she let it keep going like this?

that was a friendly (test) game ahead of the world cup. i don't think it means much even though it was a massive embarrassment for serbia. test games exist so teams can experiment with the line up and see where they are strong and where they are weak.

Some more from Sofia Arvidsson's blog.. the translation is not good.. but we can get some idea.. it seems they are in Holland already.. and that the last few days were of bad weather, so they had to practice indoor.

Then it was checked in a hotel again. This time in Holland. The journey takes her little time even if you do not go that far. Flying time to Amsterdam is of course about an hour but the journey began at 11 o'clock this morning and we arrived at the hotel at 19:30 ...

Had a bit unlucky with the weather at home, so it got to be a couple of workouts indoors. A little shame when we had guests from Serbia to visit but not much you can do. Both Ana and I hit the right spots as it went away on the blanket inside the Olympic Hall on Wednesday. You should not play with a little more roll and better margin over network?, Asked Anas coach us. ... And our missiles aimed at dense over net selvedge ...
-Nääää, we said simultaneously. (Here, meat)

Must have been something wrong. The suitcase I usually always traveling with were too small ....!
What happened?
I have no idea, because I think I only packed the essentials. ...?

Was not so much grass training course, so there was little time for Ana to shop on their visit to Sweden. Gave her a tip about a business. Today on the train, I asked if she found anything?
-I found this amazing pair of boots, They där sooo cool. I Fell in Love with Them ...
(HHHmmm, that sounds a bit familiar, of course happened to Sofia last week, too ...)
Indeed, so turned out that Ana had bought a pair of boots like ...
-I Wanted to Have Them In Beige But They didn't Have my size so I bought another color ...
(Ups, I may have been taking the last couple ...)

I understand Swedish, as its very similar to norwegian. This is what Sofia wrote about their training sessions:

"We had bad luck with the weather at home, so we did alot of indoor training. Too bad considering we had guests from Serbia. Both me and Ana hit the ball flat so we had alot of fast rallies with little margin. Shouldn't you play with a little more spin and a bit more margin over the net?, Anas coach asked us and laughed at our missles (jang: missiles meaning the fast balls) getting over the net with the smallest amount of margin. "Noooooo", we both said."

If you want other parts of the blog translated, I can translate it for you if you wish :).

Niet voor 14.30 uur:
Igor Sijsling - Thiemo de Bakker
Niet voor 16.30 uur

Sofia proved herself the biggest Ana KAD out there. :spit: Ana is also a good friend, so she gave Sofia a set and avoided a double bagel in the last 2.

Oh definitely.. Petkovic will totally kill her.. but I'll take the 30 points (or so) she gets with this win.

It wasn't that bad, come on Izzy! Second and third set Ana did good. Sofia helped her out a little, she was very nervous poor thing . She even said so to her coach.

Was not enjoyable really in any way. Sofia hit a lot of framed shots, Ana hit some good serves but so many horrible tosses and doublefaults in quite a short space of time. Ana was hit and miss on the return- some nice return winners but Andy's serve is much better than Sofia's so Ana won't get such a good look at the return next round.

Ana's backhand was completely :help:. She won plenty of points because her bh landed so short and Sofia didn't manage to get up to it.

Yes.. it was really bad. Ana was missing a lot of easy shots.. her BH was atrocious.. and there were so many wild returns.. Sure, she had a few return winners, but Sofia's serve is not good and Ana could read it easily having practiced with her last week. Ana just can't afford all those DFs.. awful.

Petkovic will kill her.. :sobbing:

Totally right. Hit and miss serves, hit and miss returns, hit and miss everything. Just as well Sofia couldn't handle the pace during the last 2 sets. Returning just a few more balls in each point might have spelt the end for Ana.

I don't know what she said but she didn't use the fistpump really in the match since she was playing Sofia so the interviewer probably asked her to do it, and people probably cheered because it's her signature move.

Should have won in 2 sets, those 3 DFs at 4-4 were awful :help::help:
And what about Sofia serving for the set and she served 4-5 times on Ana`s FH and Ana netted it every single time :lol:

A not unexpected result.

Here is what might, possibly, have happened after the 2nd set.

Sofia was delighted. The set had been played in great spirit. It was the best Sofia had played in a while and Ana although she was frequently beaten in some of the rallies never stop smiling. There were no "adje's", and clearly Ana was not in any way trying to imtimidate her close friend.

But suddenly, quite unexpectedly there was Ana right in front of Sofia after the 1st set break. Sofia, didn't know what to expect, her heart started beating fast, very fast. Ana smiled. Upon seeing this Sofia felt a sense of relief. Ana said, full of warmth and affection "that was a fine set you just played, you play really exciting tennis on grass."

For one joyous moment all of the hard work and effort Sofia had put in her tennis felt worth it and then some. "Gee thanks Ana" Sofia said, full of pride. Then suddenly Ana's expression change. She became serious. Very serious. The next words were uttered slowly, softly but very clearly. "If you win this match I am never going to talk to you again as long as I live."

Suddenly all these horrible uncomfortable emotions started spinning around Sofia's head like an crazed whirpool. Fear, hurt, anger, rejection, confusion, pure utter shock and denial too. Sofia tried to be strong. She tried to speak. But at first she couldn't say anything. But eventually the words "I understand" came out. It wasn't what she had wanted to say but it was all she could muster.

After that Ana returned to her chair and the match continued....

What Izzy says is true. I think TF takes a lot of time and energy, sometimes you just have to prioritize other things, come and go whenever you like. Freedom is good .

It was a psychologically tough match for both though I think. Not really as relaxed as a practice match. Both wanted to win, but had to do it in a subdued manner. Kind of like two friends competing for the local championship final. They both secretly want to win but it's tough mentally. That's part of why it was tough for Sofia to come back. You need to get fired up to come back. If the third set had stayed on serve a bit longer though who knows what would have happened .

Playing your friend is always tough .I remember Novak always saying that he had a tough time in matches against Tipsarevic bc he is his friend

Was this a first bagel in 2010 ?

Yes, you're right. But it's even tougher when you are also slumping. It's one thing to play your friend when you are near the top of the world rankings and clear favourite. It's quite another to play them when you are playing terrible tennis and they realise they definitely have a chance. It's tough mentally for both players.

Such faith... I'm not so confident Ana will be giving out so many bagels. I'm not sure if it is the first of the year though. Probably. I can't remember another.

Looking at her record, this is the first bagel Ana gave in over a year. Last year's French Open she had a bagel against Iveta, then lost 2 and 3 to Vika next round. Of course she received a bagel against Kleybanova... clearly this is the meaning of "pulled a Kleybanova".

I wasn't able to watch, but it seems that didn't miss anything. How did she play? Her double faults are just frustrating, because her serve can definitely be a weapon when it's clicking. Eleven double faults! She's lucky she had aces to negate those.
