I haven't made a thread in a while so maybe it will be good luck. Plus she's seeded 24, and 24 is my lucky number. ;)

If we're lucky she'll get a good draw and get on a hot streak. Confidence should not be an issue. Next week we can post the draw. Hoping for a breakthrough grand slam!!

Ahh maybe you will be the lucky thread starter then  I really hope she can maintain her good form and do well here, but a good draw is important for that. I'm looking forward to the French anyway, so lets have a good one Lucie :yeah:

Hopefully you'll get a good draw for this thread, not like me for the aussie open this year

I'm going there monday and wednesday of the first week so i've got big chances to see her :)

I will as well, just for you ;) It'd be good if you got to see her play. My last exam for 3 weeks is on Thursday, so I have the entire 2 weeks of RG free to do nothing but watch it! :woohoo: Btw Lucie is number 17 in the race to the champs ;)

Thanks mate ;) If i got it i will take like billion of pictures of her, same for Tomas
Ohh you're so lucky, i've my A-levels which starts the 8 june with german and then 11 with speciality english, and the week after this is THE BIG WEEK with all my other subjects, so the 2 weeks of RG will be full of revisions

Lucky you if you do see her, i'm not jealous at all... I hope you get to see her at her shotmaking best.
I just hope we don't get a heartbreaking match like last year :hysteric: I'd love to see Lucie at Wimbledon one day that would be awesome!

May this be the luckiest, best supported thread so far :rocker2: I just hope i can get an internet source for when i'm back at home during the French. I'd hate to miss out on supporting at a slam and be in the dark. :fiery:

Lucie drew Dokic in round 1  It should be a good draw given that Dokic sucks and is out of form, but you just never know. 2nd round Hercog would be really tough, she's in good form. 3rd round Pennetta is a good draw, but I won't look ahead to that. Possible 4th round Wozniacki.

Hi:wavey: long time I didn't post here:lol:

I'd like her to reach at least the 3rd round, after that let's see what happens:kiss:

Tania :bigwave: ages since you posted!
I think third round would be good too, but we'll see. Dokic is a very unknown quantity now, she could be really bad or really good. She has surely not been good all year and she would be very rusty, but it would be just our luck that she is on for this match  Hercog is also in form, so we really just have to wait and see.

Ehhh, not a great draw. Dokic could be extremely tough, but she could also be a walkover. We'll see. Then there's Hercog, and I think that would be extremely difficult. I'm not looking ahead. This draw could be a great opportunity for her to have some big results but Lucie will need to play how she has been playing this whole clay season.

Yeah I agree. I think if she got through the first 2 rounds she could really do some damage, just like she did in Rome and Madrid. But those first 2 rounds look quite tricky.

Edinboro

I wouldnt worry too much about Dokic. Shes been only playing Challengers and Lucie's results have been subpar the past month. Although I like both I think Lucie will come through on this one.

Sally Todd
May 22nd, 2010, 07:02 AM
I'm not quite past the point of saying I never know what to expect from Lucie at majors.

A lot depends on how injured she was in that semifinal. If she's rested and not ailing I expect her to win some matches.

The draw is not bad. As Edinboro said, Dokic has been struggling, and she's not a clay GoAT.

From what little I've seen of Hercog, Lucie has tools to beat her. Hercog has a tendency to push or loop her return of serve, which Lucie should like.

I actually wonder about Doi, who plays Hercog in the first round. She's probably too young at this point to trouble Lucie if Lucie takes command from the start, but her game looks crafty.

Davodus
May 22nd, 2010, 08:20 AM
I've never actually seen Hercog play, but she has had some good results on clay this year so she must be in some kind of form. I really don't know what to expect with Dokic. She could play amazingly well, or shocking badly. I doubt there would be anything in between. I do think that even if Dokic played really well, she would have trouble beating a confident, in form Lucie. I think Lucie's serve is really gonna trouble her, the way it swings away to the backhand, because Dokic does not move well to that side.

Lucie is playing doubles with slumping hopeless doubles player Wozniak again  They drew Arvidsson and Kerber in the first round. When I saw them play doubles, Wozniak was hopeless! She couldn't hit a volley anywhere besides under the net, seriously. She was not good, but maybe she is better now ;)

Lucie vs Dokic first on court 6 tomorrow. Not sure if it is streamed. I think last year it was, but there doesn't seem to be one for this year.

I think you should root on Lucie and if she has everything under control and is up a set and a break in the second you can move on to Thomas.

I definitely think you should start with Lucie. Then you can see how things are going...if she is going fast, you can watch her whole match and leave, and probably still see a fair bit of Tomas...but if she is going slow you can swap courts for a while and come back, just to make sure you see both.

I'm usually pessimistic but looking at Lucie's draw, she definitely has a chance to do well here, no Henin, Serena or Jankovic her side of the draw, only hot mess Kuznetsova.
There's no reason why she couldn't make the QF's here but one step at a time as always with Lucie ;)
I can't imagine Dokic presenting too much of a threat with Lucie's form, unless Lucie gets first-round-itus nerves  I will have to wake up early for it if she's first on.

Yeah she was mostly just too confident and match tight i think which is how i thought it'd be.
First two games 8 straight points and i thought she'd blitz it but for a first round very happy with that :woohoo:
Kind of felt sorry for Dokic. Liking Lucie's new dress in blue though :hearts:

May 24th, 2010, 11:22 AM
Yeah I feel bad for Dokic, I mean Lucie hit like 7 unforced errors today, seriously. That is some good form, I like it. A lot of players would have lost to Lucie today...Dokic actually did better than I thought.

I like the blue too, better than the orange.

Yeah that is pretty stingy, i was shocked! Dokic  I mean i thought she could have been even more ruthless before but seeing that with those stats i'm being way too harsh.
I guess it was such a good peformance, i'm looking for small areas to work on. I just hope she carries this through, i said before but the QF are a definite possibility but still a long way to go.

She said she is really feeling confident on the clay, that she feels she can really play her best tennis at this tournament, and that she had no pain in her hamstring in the match. She had 5 days off doing rehab and recovery, which she said helped her a lot. She also said she didn't wanna get ahead of herself, her next match will be tough and she is focussing on that. So all good things!

I think Hercog plays with some variety good all round game, but is a big choker. She's had good results yes, but she also lost to Marion recently who is no clay courter :tape:
I think Lucie should give her too much to handle but we'll see i guess.

So happy about Lucie's win. I couldn't help but check the live score via iPhone app.

It looks like she's playing well. I don't know about the stats though, the RG stats can be strange. Did anyone here succeed at watching most of the match? (David, I know about wanting to throw a laptop out the widow. It would be so satisfying! Lol)

I've only watched YouTube clips of Hercog, but Lucie should be able to dictate play, and her groundstrokes and footwork getting to them seem more natural than Hercog's. Hercog has done well on clay this year. But Lucie has done better. :)

I think if Lucie serves well, she has control of the match.

Davodus

So i'm going to see her again :) Hopefully it will be not a rainy day

Monday was a great day, it was sunny and very hot. People saw the match so i'm not going to make a report :) All i can say is that while seeing lucie playing in live, i realised how she progressed. Even compared to last year, she is not anymore the girl who hit the ball as hard as she can, i know that what i say is not new and a surprise but anyway i wanted to say it  I've been sad to see Dokic like that, the girl took so much weight and when she is playing she is breathing really weirdly, like she has some problems, i felt pitty :(
Oh btw i took plenty of pics, i will post it as soon as i can

Davodus
May 26th, 2010, 08:55 AM

Sally Todd
May 26th, 2010, 07:03 PM
Man, Lucie is really playing badly today.

Hercog is doing nothing more than keeping the ball in play.

She's repeatedly winning rallies by just retrieving and floating balls back. It's annoying.

Yeah, I felt if Lucie kept her recent form she could control this match. But she's playing lousy. Dulgheru is a much better clay player than Hercog from what I've seen so far.

Davodus
May 26th, 2010, 07:05 PM
Yeah but when Lucie played Dulgheru she didn't make 1000038930809 errors off pushed floaters down the middle.

Sally Todd

Well this is over now. She could have held the games she was broken in this set, had GP both times.

Lucie's performance today is truly airheaded.

Hercog has only had to keep the ball in play.

It's been a long while since Lucie has shown up for a major and kept it together.

Sorry everyone. Today can only can get better after watching that!:lol:

Lucie. :( Very, very, very, very disappointing. Really poor. This is a shame. :( BUT, we need to keep in mind the great form Lucie has been in. Up until this result, Lucie was doing really well. She needs to forget about this match completely and focus on the grass. If she continues to play her game matches like this will eventually become rare.

Yeah, I am too. I thought she'd progressed beyond this kind of carelessness and lack of focus.

As Robert says, it's good that there is a switch of surfaces. That's about the only positive thing I have to say about today.

I'll do it if I'm allowed. :D I can't believe I haven't started a slam thread for her yet.

you can go ahead! But open it in the week before Wimbledon starts. Maybe finally someone can bring her luck

You definitely are. I have a theory on why she played so bad, could be wrong but I'll say it anyway. All the rain delays and waiting around in the locker room would have been hard, and for Lucie's game that is not a good thing because she is all about timing and rhythm. She needs to get into that fast, and with all the delays, she would have had no rhythm and timing coming onto court at first. Because Hercog just junked the ball 90% of the time, she couldn't get any timing the whole match because the ball was never coming onto her. It would just be like, 3 or 4 shots that Hercog junked back, then Lucie hit an error. So many times that happened, because she just didn't have the timing to make consistent winners. The same thing happened with Tomas. He started very bad, making a thousand errors, but the guy he played hit the ball hard so he managed to find his timing and he could hit the winners then.

I couldn't believe my eyes when i finally saw this result :hysteric: :help:
My internet was pissing me off by not working not long before the match until today but now i am kind of thankful i didn't see this mess :o
I am pretty gutted to be honest as my instincts told me Lucie would do really well here :tape:, yet she's only done as well as last year.
I guess the philosophy of expect the unexpected is always true with Lucie.
Still i hope the next two grand slams she will achieve what should have been merited here for her improved form and peformances. Is she still in the doubles?

They lost by that scoreline to those two? :help: :tape: :o
Wozniak was pretty awful against Elena yesterday but didn't Benesova lose to Wozniak :tape: It sounds like Wozniak is even worse in doubles, if that's possible :help:
By the way are you over Lucie's loss because i am still not quite :o After seeing Penneta handily beat Hercog it reminded me what a big wasted opportunity this was.

Davodus
May 29th, 2010, 03:01 PM
No I am really furious about it because she just let Hercog push her into errors 90% of the time. She would have beaten Pennetta and probably Wozniacki if she had got there imo, because she was playing well enough (and she always beats Pennetta). She just had a bad day against a stupid pusher and she lost it. Her form coming in was so good, so I really can't get over my anger at this. The million rain delays certainly didn't help because she never would have got her rhythm, which she needs. Blurgh :o

Lucie needs a new doubles partner. What about Zvonareva? They had a bunch of success in Dubai.

I'm glad it's not just me. I really wish that they had a clear spell that day and got on with the match but Lucie seems to not have had enought time to force a rhythm with all the delays :(
When i initially first found out i thought maybe people who had been saying she was talented had a point and she had played a superb match. To find out Lucie just was forced out of rhythm and induce errors is so irritating  It must have been worse watching it live.
It is shit to see that Wozniacki or Pennetta are there instead they are so much less interesting to watch and i also felt for sure Lucie would have beaten her bitch and then dismiss Wozniacki. :fiery:
Like you i think her form going in makes this result hard to swallow but then Lucie can do that to you

I think Lucie doesn't really play doubles enough to get a regular partner, and I don't really think she should bother with it in the slams either. She is really not a good doubles player

Lucie can do that to us, but we had 3 tournaments in a row of solid play and results, I guess 4 was too much to ask for :o If she was in the section of the draw of Groth vs Shvedova, I have no question in my mind that she would make th QF now...because neither of them push she would have beaten them. I really think the rain delays ruined her, because she is a big rhythm player. Oh well, we must move on. Looks like she is playing Eastbourne, so until then....we will have to live with THAT as the last match :o

:spit: Yeah i really can't imagine Lucie being a good doubles player unless she played with a specialist as i doubt she'd have the court craft.
Lucie's at Eastbourne  Even if it's a crappy tournament i wish i could get a ticket to go and watch.
