Looking back my points, I see how vulnerable I am.:spit:
Current Wimbledon champion Michaella Krajicek fought off 2 match points to defeat Australian Open winner Britney Spears 4-6, 7-6(5), 7-5 in the final of the UNICEF Open. Krajicek was fresh off from winning her 11th career title at Birmingham just last week after an abysmal first half of the season on plexicushion and clay, only winning just one match in 8 events.
"Last week I was playing almost flawless tennis but this week I had to play my best against Britney although I am not really feeling too good today. I started off the match rather slow and had to battle hard to play catch up. My serve finally clicked as the match went on and I started to get some rhythm with my shots. But Britney showed how she just won a slam not too long ago. She is such a great player, didn't even surrender the last point, despite the brilliant drop shot from myself. Honestly, one of the best matches I've played on grass under this condition, it feels even better when I did it in front of my home crowd. They gave me the biggest support that I could get in any where else. I'm just happy to win this event again. By the way, a huge thanks to the UNICEF for being the sponsor of this event, making it so unique and that's the reason I'm so motivated to play here." said Krajicek in her post match speech. She had to defeat the Williams sisters and Danish teen Caroline Wozniacki en route to the final.
Riding on a 12 match winning streak on grass and establishing herself as the one to beat at Wimbledon this season, she said:" I am kind of worried about my chance at SW19. When I would play so good early in the grass season, I would end up short in winning Wimbledon. It was proven during season 2 when I did win Birmingham and here and found myself just one step away from winning before eventually being defeated by Amelie. Still, I won't count myself out so easily. I am just ecstatic to have won 2 titles on my most favourite surface. Plus I realized I am going to do catch up a lot in order to qualify for the Year End Championship. I just don't want to lose out the opportunity, so I would have to play much better if possible. Anyhow, I hope I can get enough rest for Eastbourne - an event I usually don't do well at all. Hopefully I can break the curse and win my first title there."
