What about Els and Laurence?

This is something that worried me a long time now. Juju and Kim are obviously doing great, but what about Els and Laurence? Will they make the top 100 again? Or should they concentrate on doubles?

Els has had a good singles career, I think, with her IMO a bit limited potential. She is a great doubles player nowadays, and I think she should fully concentrate on that, find herself a regular, good partner and try to get to the top of doubles.

Laurence is another story. She has the potential to be a regular top 50 player (at least) in singles. But she's in a major slump... She has to get out of this soon, cause otherwise, her (singles) career will be over. <IMG SRC="smilies/frown.gif" border="0">

Well Els isn't the youngest anymore so I don't see her getting back in the top 100. She should concentrate on doubles and try to win a few slams cause she's certainly capable of doing so with a good partner (like chanda <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">)!

Laurence, well Laurence *sigh*...After her knee injury in 1996 she never got back to her old form. She was ranked somewhere near 35 when it happened and it totally destroyed her career. I don't see her getting back in the top 100 either to tell you the truth. She's a beautiful 'touch' player but she lacks power and when she plays a power babe she's just blown off court. It's sad though cause if she wouldn't have been injured she might have reached the top 20. The potential was certainly there.
I think she should concentrate on playing doubles and the challengers.

it's scary that we don't have any alternatives for Kim and Justine, and actually i don't see one coming that will reach the top 100.

I think Laurence's problem is she doesn't believe in herself anymore. If she can restore that, she might enter the top 100 again.
