Just curious to see some experiences here of people dealing with MPs! Im realy good with them, I've never lost a match having them, polar opposieto my friend, I've beaten him like 5 times after he had MPs. Once I was 7-6 5-4 up against him and had 3 MPs, los the set on a tiebreak, then went 5-1 up in the third and he brought i back to *5-5 40-A and I still won. Once I saved 10 MPs in a tournament against a pusher, which made it sweeter. He had 3 at 6-5 and then in the tiebeak he led 6-3, 7-6, 8-7, 9-8, 10-9, and I won it 12-10.

I've won a few matches saving match points, but can't recall a match where I had match points and lost. Maybe in some pro 8 practice set or whatever.

I always hits mps in the net or over the baseline
that's why I can't win a match

Lost my club championship final two years ago 6-7 7-5 7-6, after being 5-3 up in the decider and having a MP at 6-5 in the tiebreak. Ended up losing it 8-6. Shame it wasn't a long set instead :(

Last year got my revenge on him in the semis beating him 4-6 6-2 6-1 and played my coach in the final. Once again led 5-3 in the 3rd and lost 4 games in a row, but no MPs this time. Final score 5-7 6-2 7-5 to him :(

Hopefully 3rd year lucky haha!

Yeah, I never lose a match once I get one.
It can take some time but I will close the match.

If I have a MP against me, depending on the score, it's either all-in or shameless pushing if it's close.

The most i've ever saved was 8 match points and won!! Down 6-3 5-1 40-15, I won 3-6 7-6(2) 6-1.

Many other other times i've saved match points and won too, but not as many as that

During a school tournament, I was playing mixed doubles. 8 game pro-set, no ad. It was terrible.

First we were up 5-2, I was hitting so many backhand down the line winners off my opponents serve. Then chokefest. Me and my partner start spraying balls everywhere. Now we're down 5-6, still on serve. We break, and are up 7-6. My serve. Doublefault fest. 7-7. 7 point tiebreak. We fall back 4-1, then we somehow fight back and it's 6-6. Somehow, my partner (who isn't very gifted with a tennis racket, unfortunately) comes up with an amazing rally to get us match point. Then she tightens up and misses a return of serve. Amazing point again, all from my partner. Then, she misses another easy ball. Two more errors, we're done. It was terrible. We lost 8-7(7). Worst match of my life.

I remember saving 7 mps in a two tie breaks before, winning 4-6 7-6 7-6, man those were the days of junior pushy tennis

the ones where I had mp and lost was at a tournament. I won the first 6-4, then lost the second set 6-0, it was a 10 pt third set and I was down like like 8-4 and went up 9-8 before losing 4-6,6-0,[11-9]. Earlier in the day I lost 7-6(11),6-4 ( I had 7 sp in first set and was up 4-1 in each set against my brother :o)

I have played a ton of matches where I saved mp's though

I was down 3-6, 3-5 0-40, then 5-6 30-40 and 40-AD, and 6-6 2-6 and saved those match points, and then saved some at 4-5 15-40 in the third to win 3-6, 7-6(6), 7-5 against someone who never should have had the advantage. He was just a track star who could literally only hit slice anything....and it drove me, an Ivanovic type player, INSANE!!!!!

Once i came back from *0-5 30-40 in the decider :D

Being a pusher, i generally play alot tighter on important points, i save match points very commonly when i play matches. I very very rarely lead against any player. It's either i come back or i don't

I've saved plenty of match points, but that doesn't necessarily mean I win the match. I've saved tons, but still end up losing the match a couple of games after. I've saved a couple of set points and came back to win the set though.

I don't think I've wasted match points before. If I get to match point then I usually win. I've only wasted set points.

i've never been able to come back from match points down (only set points), but i have never let a match go when holding match point

When I had a MP I always won. When I was facing a MP I always lost a match. Where is that option ? :(

I always waste tons of MPs, I need like 5 to close out a match..!
At the same time, I'm one of the best match point savers... My opponents need at least 5 MPs on their own as well

I always think to myself there is no pressure anywhere in the match until match point. Once you have one, you know you have played well enough to get there and can win the match :)

I dont think i've ever lost a match after having matchpoints....neither have i won one after saving them! I do tend to waste a lot of matchpoints though, and need about 30 of them. :spit:

6-2 5-3 40/0, to 2-6 7-6 6-3 I had three match points and hit three double faults, and two backhand errors over the baseline to lose the game and then I mentally just fell apart. I was crying and all sorts.

I think I never wasted a MP in Singles, only in Doubles once in a 3rd set TB! I am very hesitant to do anything on my MP though, even when being up 6-0 5-0
I have saved a MP in the most "important" match I ever played, was nothing big though! :p

Once, i led 6-4, 5-1 40-00 (i had 2 more MPs later in my next Servise game) and i won the match 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 :o.

Another time, i was 3-6, 5-6 30-40 and i won 3-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4. That was really good! :)

I was playing amazing tennis and it was just a one set match.
I was up 5-1 40-0 with 3 match points
then all of a sudden all my shots were just not going in :o
and he came back and it went to a tie-break and he had match points
then i finally regrouped and won.
like 10-8 in the tiebreak.

So terrible. I had like 10 match points.

I tend to save match points and win the match. I don't know why. This happened yesterday funnily enough. I was down 4-5 and saved four match points and won. It included a comeback from 0-40 on my crappy serve. I don't really lose match points as set points are generally where I slip up.

Well, once I fought back from 0-5 facing 3 match points(at 3-5) and once from 0-4. But once I lost 4-0 and 40-15 in third set. In most cases I use match points and few times I saved few to win match after that. But more ofen I lose set after wasting set points or opportunitis like 3-1 and 40-15.

I shouldn't have posted in this thread saying I have never wasted (or saved) match points. Totally jinxed myself. Today during my secondary school competition I wasted two match points. Just awesome.

Yes, yes, yes. I have been up and even taken the first set and then lost. It's as if the tought of winning cause me to choke and lose. I just don't understand it.

For me, I get very tight when facing these match point. I usually play very safe and just try to keep everything into the court and I end up saving sometimes the point but losing couple later, very frustrating. What should I do to resolve this? I very much dislike being passive and tense.

I've only wasted MP once in my life. :crying2: Because of the bad weathers, we played a 3rd set TB instead of a set. I lost 8-10 :crying2: Saved like 4 MP and finally had one of my own but he came up with a huge winner :hysteric: :sobbing: Haven't won from MP (because most of the tourneys here are 3rd set TBs instead of full sets) but I have won like 4-5 times from 1-5 SP down.

I've had a couple pretty nice meltdowns.

Playing a challenge match for the top spot on my college team, I was the pretty big underdog. The other guy has a bigger game, and is someone you can't let get on top of a point or he'll just clobber you. I was doing a great job of putting pressure on his second serve and got a lot of my own first serves in. He was lucky I didn't bagel him, as up 4-0, and with another break point, he got a netcord that just tipped over. I had break points in the first game of the second, but couldn't convert. Suddenly my first serve lost its aim, and I started missing returns. He took the set pretty easily.

I broke early in the third set, and was really serving with authority. Up 5-3, I had 15-40 after hitting two terrific backhand passing shots. First one, he hit an ace. Nothing you can do about that. Second one, big serve, big forehand. Again, not much you can do. He ended up holding.

Here's where it got good. I hit two solid serves to get up 30-0. I worked a smart point at 30-0, got the sitter forehand in the middle of the court with him push way wide, and I go for a little too close to the line and miss. I hit a quick forehand error into the net to lose the next point. The next point had a fairly extended rarely, and ends with me hitting a wonderful (albeit very lucky)dropshot. On my third match point here, I shank a forehand so badly it not only goes over the fence, but over the street as well. I get another one, and miss my bread and butter backhand down the line by about 15 feet. At this point, panic sets in. Two quick forehand errors and I've lost the game.

He starts off the tiebreaker hitting a SLOW second serve. I promptly respond by sending a timid return into the very bottom of the net. I then double-fault, and miss a fairly routine backhand passing shot. He hits two nice serves, and I double-fault once more to make it 0-6. I come into net, stupidly on match point and push a volley wide. Rex loses 6-2 2-6 6-7(0) after holding four match points and a 5-3 lead.

Not that I remember it or anything.

ugh i'm a total choker.
i tend to (when its a third set TB to 10) go up quickly like 9-4 with some great play and then collapse. its just GREAT.
