I think it's almost impossible to predict the winners. I'd like to see Vika win Marbella or Charleston. And hopefully Jankovic has a shot at Stuttgart or Rome, although the one I would want Jeja to win would be Madrid. Caro will most likely take out PV Beach, and Juju RG.

Ponte Verde Beach- Cibulkova
Charleston- Sharapova

I think this will be a good clay court season, especially if Dinara returns healthy.
With Justine and Kim back, Caro and Jelena in the IW final. I expect the Williams are going to try to compete and not let Justine roll unopposed. Plus Vera is healthy this year, Sveta and Lena.

This is a strong group. If the Dinara is healthy one of the strongest clay groups ever

Lena not playing stuttgart

Jankovic and Henin are the favourites for the big ones

maybe petrova will win one of the green clay events

I think this is where Justine will make a clean sweep of most clay court titles.

Obviously not playing competitively on the surface since 2008, she must miss it.

And as a non-fan of course I don't want her to win Roland Garros, but wouldn't feel bad if she did.

I hope Sveta gets her shit together for clay.

Justine is pretty much the favourite to win most of the clay court tournaments, considering her dominance in clay tournaments of the past.

I'd pick Miss Samantha Frame-sur as a dark horse to win one, considering her run last year at RG, the fact she is a Top 10 player, and that her game suits a clay court; the only problem is her consistency, which seems to be improving...

...But I am Australian, so of course I would talk up one of my own! ;)

Main contender? :o

Anyway.. Stuttgart seems to be the most interesting as always. Hopefully one title for Jelena and Sveta before RG.

But you put Sharapova as a contender for all of the ones she's playing? Sorry but I don't think she's a contender for any clay title this year. She might go deep in some, but do you honestly see her winning them? Main contender.

Sharapova does well on clay these days, especially on fast har-tru clay of Charleston...ironically her best recent slam result is also at the French Open

She has changed her game not to better her chances on clay. Maybe muscle memory will click back in, but I don't think it will be a clean sweep. She's going to have to grit it out like the rest of the tour.

It's ironic to think that Sharapova's not much of a clay courter and that she has not succeeded on clay even though she has always made the 4th round or better at RG since 2004. She can't even say that about the other three GSs which she's won.

"Her game is so different now"

That has to be one of the more retarded things I've heard. You know you can change your gamestyle according to surface, right??
Or is that something we havent seen in so long on the women's side that we forgot it can happen. Like Nadal suddenly shifts when he hits the dirt, so does Justine.

And Caro is not bad at all. I hate her way to play tennis but it WORKS. Damn, why should she change her game if it actually WORKS ?

And Justine never played her.
And Serena had to save mps against her once.

Justine is doing very well on hardcourts if we forget that Dulko loss. I don't see why she should be awful on clay, especially that almost nobody can touch her on clay because they don't have a clue how to play on dirt :tape:

I'll say it again, shut up goldenlox. :haha: You clearly didn't get the message the first time.

Anyway, back to adult conversation...

It will be interesting to see if Justine does indeed change her game on the clay because her strategy here just seems to be so ill-advised. It's one thing being aggressive but vs Caroline she is just standing at the back of the court and hitting the ball as hard as possible. Even on clay she came to the net more and it just doesn't look like Justine Henin on court. It just looks like the Justine we saw in 08 when she retired, but worse.

You're making excuses for Justine and they need to stop. I'm not attacking her for playing badly, everybody has bad days and over the last 24 months we have all seen practically every top player in some kind of a slump. But she came on tour claiming to be focus on preparing her game Wimbledon yet all i'm seeing is her standing plump on the baseline and going for everything. No slicing, no volleying, no all-court game. She's playing the type of game that is just not right for her. I just don't get it.
