View Full Version : Stosur reminds me of Federer..

...both are really good framers :o

Do atp/wta players remind you of some wta/atp players?

Actually the thread title should have been- Federer reminds me of Stosur (watching Federer vs. Serra and after quite a lot of frames I immediately thought of Stosur)

Murray reminds me of A.Radwanska with the crafty/tricky game.

Any other?

Push Push Simon = Push Push Caro

Simon is very good at changing the pace of fast incoming balls. He can take the ball early, flatten out balls mid-rally unexpectedly and his first serve is deceptively quick. He's beaten several #1's in Federer, Nadal, Hewitt and Moya, while other notable scalps include Djokovic, Murray and Del Potro.

Wozniacki only has two shot selections: slow, or moonball. Added to that, she's never beaten any current or former number one, if I'm correct.

Exactly. You summed him up perfectly. I hate it when people call Gilles a pusher just because he's quick and skinny. He is more than happy to be aggressive and uses his opponents' power so well and isn't afraid to come forward/serve and volley and use different shots to unsettle opponents. I love his signature play of baiting hs opponent into the net and then passing them. Sooo smart and probably the biggest reason why he is 2-0 vs Fed.

The OP is an idiot for not recognising the greatness of Federer and basically for not showing any respect. Framed forehands? If someone can win 16 grand slams with that, I think every player should quickly acquire the skill.

I love Sam but not sure how she's comparable to Fed except both have serving-dominated games. Sam is definitely nowhere near as good a returner.

When Federer shanks the ball it is because of his incredible racquet head speed, generated by his unorthodox wrist-release (esp in his forehand stroke). It is amazing he doesn't shank the ball a lot more often than he does. It's because of how still he keeps his head as he tries to watch the ball all the way to contact.

And they both play with the same racquet, the Babolat AeroProDrive; well almost since Nadal's is still the old model without coretex damper in the shaft, but with a fake yellow cortex stripe painted on it to make it look like the new model with cortex, so Babolat can sell more new racquets.

Yeah Simon does hit a much flatter ball than Woz. To me he's a defense player, but not a pusher. His strokes are quite nice-looking as well. I like it when he jumps to hit his backhand with a bit more pace. :D He's in an epic slump though, he's one of the ones I hope will get it together. :)
