I could look up the stats first, but let's see what my gut says.

If CLijsters plays the best tennis she's capable of playing, she'll win. Obviously. But let's assume Clijsters plays 'B+' tennis. Good, not great. In that case, this is a pretty good test of Azarenka's mastery of her own game.

B+ Clijsters will nullify the Azarenka's normal game. Can Azarenka take her tools and game and use them in a new way? Can she actually construct points against a player as fast, and as experienced, as Clijsters?

If they both do what they normally do, Clijsters wins. If Azarenka shows up with a game plan, and the will and ability to execute it, she'll win unless Clijsters is 'lights out'.

Vika is all agression nad kim not so. Vika would have to be so patient if she is to win.

I suppose I won't mind if either win. But I would like to see a Vee/Kim final so I guess come on Clijsters! :)

Oh and I was surprised to see that Kim has only lost 3 games for 2 matches. This should be a REALLY good match if both play to their potential, but in the end I think Kim will be too much for Azarenka. After these points come off Azarenka will be #9 and nearly out of top 10 :eek:

Normally this is Kim's match to lose, especially after her convincing win over Peer, but if she implodes without warning as she did in Australia and Indian Wells...

It really depends on which Kim shows up. In the past, Kim was consistency personified. You could always depend on her to go far, especially on hardcourts, where her game is just spectacular. However, this year, Kim has been terribly up and down. Losing 6-0 6-1 to Petrova? At the Australian Open? And then screwing up so badly at Indian Wells?

If the normal Kim shows up, she'll win. But if "Get me the fuck outta here" Kim shows up, Azarenka just has to be smart and keep the ball in play to any one of Kim's wings.

Hoping for Kim to win though!

The difference is that Azarenka does not have Maria's serve. She also does not have nearly as much firepower on the forehand side.

As I said earlier, Kim really should win this. Vika isn't fast and doesn't have a killer serve.

She does, however, have the killer instinct.

Now there's the rub. Comeback Kim is less predictable and more erratic than the original version, so who can say? I hope Kim will win. She can win, if she turns up mentally and physically on the day ...........................
