I'm down for the group prayer

It can start like this: "In the name of the forehand, and of the serve, and of the holy clay courts, Anamen!"

Awesome!

"May the Gods of tennis give Ana a lucky break, a great Roland Garros draw e many many wins!"

Yes, that's a nice start :) Everybody should add a line and then we can get somebody who's good at photoshop to make an image of the prayer on a scroll or something  I'm sure Reetard would do it - he likes Ana :)

I feel exactly the same. And I do think the fistpumps and ajdes help her keep the intensity up and keep focused, which obviously enhance her performance. It's for her, not for her opponent.. and they should just deal with it. I wish Ana would just fistpump all the way, and stop worrying about others. :o
i kinda hope it was just a one-off attempt to be nice towards her fed cup team mate

I hope Ana NEVER sees this, she would probably cry for three hours :( :o Who the hell is he anyway? He then goes on to say that players should celebrate like Nadal does :help:
that guy is obviously a fuckwit, but i don't think ana would cry if she saw that ;) but there is a very real threat that she would try to fistpump less and that it will affect her negatively :o

Yes..spot on. I get pissed off when I remember how idiot and stupid Ana was in that match and how she wasted a huge chance at being seeded. Now not only we have to stress out about her draw.. about the fact that she can face anyone at any moment.. but also about Rome being nothing more than a fluke and that no real improvement has actually been acomplished. :sobbing:

I hope I never get to see Ana playing that stupid ever.. because that was a record. I mean.. I know there will be matches she will suck badly... there always are a few of those, even to the players that are doing great. But she can never allow herself to be that stupid.

When was the last time she wasn't seeded at a slam? I honestly think that a decent run in RG is at the very least necessary for Ana right now. She needs it...

And yes.. if she comes out flat, it's the worst case scenario.. and honestly, I could never understand it. It's a freaking slam.. she has to be 100% into it, fighting for each point. I already couldn't underztand how she went into last year's USO talking about holidays.. but she was clealy burned out. Now she has really no excuses whatsoever, she has to at least give her all, heart, sweat and blood.

She will also need some luck though..

No she didnt accept it, she didn't believe it...she made an excuse for it instead. She was trying to blame everything else, when he was right. At RG he isn't gonna be able to go on and tell her that though...not that it matters if she doesn't believe him :p

Yes.. I hope he works on it before RG.. makes her see it and work on a plan to avoid it. The good thing of not having on court coaching at RG is that Ana won't be able to whine about each and everything, like she did in every single coaching time out they had. That is awful for her, I actually think it takes her atention away from the match and she focuses only on what is bothering her.

I thought their coaching time outs were all completely negative, so it's better that she won't have him there to vent. Maybe then she can actually think about what's going right, instead of what's going wrong.. and fight.

i will post this then try to change topic...

i was reading their forum and one poster said we are always praising ana even when she sucks while they can recognize when JJ sucks and be critical, and are critical of JJ and ana in the same way:spit: how hypocritical! we are always criticizing ana on court (and they do the same with JJ), it's normal to criticize your fave when she doesn't win and sucks, that's the first thing fans do... but we are also the first ones to criticize her behavior off court (i.e. the WAGing, even questioning her family) while they always defend JJ actions, for example they went on to say that if JJ took sophia's name off the massage board after a match "it was bitchy but if she did it she did it for a reason and sophia deserved it".
they really can't see how biased they are.
Now they are calling ana fake because she's always nice and kind but on court she fistpumps... fistpumping and ajdeing is just a competitive thing, it has nothing to do with being kind and nice:o
they are so blinded by their delusion they can't even recognize it, sad.

and about the dementieva fans being haters, i came to realize most of them are not, just a few who are clearly mentally damaged judging from their posts. i put them on ignore so i don't have to read their bs, it makes for a much more pleasant experience.

Tiresome... who cares about JJ and her fans.. a big whatever.. :spit:

Let's think Ana and RG.

So.. the french version of the RG web already has news for today:

The master is in place
Roger Federer at Roland Garros! Defending champion and world No. 1 has provided an initial training day busy with a session on Court Philippe-Chatrier followed by another on the court No. 2, behind closed doors. "Rodgeur" was exercised in the right mood with Croat Ivan Ljubicic, who is fully recovered (see video on Facebook). The queen of the 2008 edition, Ana Ivanovic, has also tapped his first shot, like his compatriot Novak Djokovic. The Williams sisters, they are always diligent. But early this morning, Venus has interrupted his working session to a massage in the lower back. Small or big booboo? Given the mood of Dad Richard, he better not ask ...

English version of the news is up now:

Hail to the chief
Roger Federer is back in Paris! The reigning French Open champion and world No.1 had a full day's practice on Wednesday, having a hit-out on Philippe Chatrier court followed by another one away from prying eyes on No.2 court. The Swiss maestro enjoyed a few rallies with Croat Ivan Ljubicic, who is back to full fitness (see the video on Facebook). 2008 women's winner Ana Ivanovic was also practising in the stadium on Wednesday, as was fellow Serb Novak Djokovic. The Williams sisters were also out on the courts, but Venus had to cut short her early-morning session to have the base of her back massaged. Father Richard was in attendance and had that trademark wry smile of his, which would seem to suggest that there was nothing to concern the elder of his two tennis-playing daughters in terms of fitness.

Tiresome... who cares about JJ and her fans.. a big whatever.. :spit:

Let's think Ana and RG.

So.. the french version of the RG web already has news for today:

http://www.rolandgarros.com/fr_FR/news/articles/2010-05-19/201005191274283911342.html

Ana hit her first balls at RG this year today. :) Hopefully she is focused and has a good preparation.

The draw will be done on friday at 11:30, local time. Nervous!

"his" shots:tape::lol:

she looks happy practicing, it looks like it's really changing, but let's see the outcome of RG before drawing conclusions...

This is from some mug/fuckwhit by name of Bruce Jenkins:

I hope Ana NEVER sees this, she would probably cry for three hours :( :o Who the hell is he anyway? He then goes on to say that players should celebrate like Nadal does :help:

This guy is a "professional" journalist? It's sad how bad journalism has gotten lately. No wonder fewer and fewer people pay attention to these fools.

Come on guys... just try it out.. the prayer should be a colective effort.. I'm sure everyone can add something! Doesn't have to be witty, just heartfelt!

 I do this all the time even though I don't think it will have any effect. :p All I am asking for is 4th round and a ouple of solid matches from Ana. But I would really love to see Ana make the quarters.

yes the quarters would be great... i would be happy with a 4th round, so she can defend her points. But it won't be easy, she will have a to beat at least 2 seeds i think to get there

Regarding the haters: I agree we should just take the high road and ignore the crap.

As for RG, I hope Ana can get to the QF, but I feel that's being pretty optimistic, especially since she's unseeded. I hope she can avoid a real threat in the early rounds. If she drew JJ/Serena/Henin in the first round, I would die.

No offense to Venus but I'm not sure a player beating her once is a sign of greatness. Besides Pironkova's been slumping hardcore, she's only #100 in the world and Elena shouldn't have lost to her under any circumstances.

Oh well...this tanking issue will die down soon enough. Lena has surprisingly few haters on GM. I doubt this thing will change many people's minds about her anyway. ;)

Oh well...this tanking issue will die down soon enough. Lena has surprisingly few haters on GM. I doubt this thing will change many people's minds about her anyway. ;)If you look again,I called Pronka 'half-decent';I never said she was 'great'.Her win over Venus merely proves that she can beat a top player IF certain things swing her way.Not everyone might agree, but I'd say there were two levels of tanking. The first one is where someone just doesn't feel as motivated as usual and gives a subpar effort....The second level is where someone basically quits and doesn't even go for shots that are easily returnable.I don't think that Elena was guilty of the second version, but you can tell me if you saw the highlights.

Back on topic,I'll be extremely interested to see how Izzy's concern--actually,our collective concern--plays out....That is,how will Ana respond w/o on-court coaching now??

From my point of view perfect scenario for Ana is to be in Caroline Wozniacki part of Draw (including 1st round clash scenario)... so unseeded Ana will "stole" draw from TOP4 seeded player.

Worst case scenario is to be close to Justine Henin (close means: R1, R2, R3, R4 or QF opponent).

It's brutally top heavy.. Stosur, JJ, Henin, Serena.. all in the top half. I have absolutely no idea who can emerge from the bottom half. It's all the struggling players plus Venus, Aravane and MJMS. It could very well be a surprise finalist. Pity Ana didn't get the bottom half of the draw.

I think Ana's draw is alrigt being unseeded. "Should" beat Chang, like Ana against Kleybs on clay, we know Ana is capable of beating A-Rad (3rd time a charm?) and Bepa/Dinara in the 4th round is doable if Ana plays well. Possible Ana/JJ quarterfinals matchup.

All in all, not bad. I just hope she can defend her 4th round points and I am confident she can, although Radwanska may be tough.

I'm much more worried about Radwanska in the third round than about Safina or Zvonareva. Neither is doing well on red clay. In any case, I think it will be Zvonareva. If Ana manages to get that far, then I'll think about it..

Yes, it's very strange: in my opinion a first/second/third round exit looks just about as likely as a fourth/quarters/semis  If Ana catches fire, it's only JJ who stands in her way to make the last four, and from there anything is possible. So is her 1R opponent good on clay? She lost her opening match to Razzano in Strasbourg...and I haven't seen her enjoy any big clay-court success at previous tourneys...maybe she's done okay on the ITF circuit on clay

Now that Ana is seemingly on the right track,I'll repeat a wish that I first shared back in 2008:I'd like to see teenage pranksters enter the tourney grounds armed with magic markers...and then we could read the memorable headline "Vandals Draw on the Draw!"......apparently,I'm the only one who holds this dream:lol:

Yeah Luca. The draw could be worse.. she could be in the first quarter.. but it also could be better.. I mean.. anywhere in the bottom half.. but it is what it is. If Ana gets her head straight and her serve working she can win those matches. If she doesn't, she can lose to anyone in her draw. It will come down to which Ana decides to show up. It will definitely not be easy... but hey, Ana earned the hard draws by spending more than 6 months completely neglecting her tennis, and playing like complete crap. Truth is.. she earned it. And if she wants to get back up, she will have to earn it too, in a positive way.. managing to beat the good players.

Kleybanova sole red clay win this year came against clay GOAT Agkul Amanmuradova. Lost to Vinci and Peer in Rome and Madrid. Zvonareva's sole red clay win this year was against clay GOAT Melanie Oudin. Lost to Kvitova and Venus in Rome and Madrid. A-Rad is really tough... but it's time Ana stops losing to her.. But you know what I'd rather see her losing to A-Rad or Bepa than to JJ.. so if she reaches the QF, she better be extra motivated and win. Otherwise she can lose earlier.

Ana has a new diary up!

Arriving back in the city where you have won a tournament is always a special feeling. I think Paris is the most special city for me, considering some of the experiences I have had here.

Even before I won the French Open, my first Grand Slam title, I had always achieved things first here: my first Grand Slam quarter-final, my first Grand Slam final, for example. And my match with Mauresmo when I was 17 – I will never forget it.

It’s amazing to think that that was five years ago. Wow, doesn’t time fly? We have to make the most of it.

Today it’s the birthday of my friend Novak Djokovic, so I would like to wish him a very Happy Birthday, and good luck in the tournament.

Unfortunately I’ve been a little ill lately so haven’t been able to prepare for this tournament the way I was hoping, but I’m sure I’ll be 100 per cent for my first match, which looks like it will be on Tuesday.

I’ve had some good practice sessions since I arrived, and I especially enjoyed getting back onto Chatrier Court, which is one of my favourite courts in the world.

It’s been a while since I wrote, and I’ve received many lovely messages of support in the last month or so, and I’d like to thank everyone who wrote to me.

Love Ana

Ana is ill.. :sobbing::sobbing::sobbing:

Ana said `little ill` ,don`t exaggerate people
Ana is probably talking about that stomach flu she had in Madrid

I hope she is ok now,she didn`t look sick on those last photos and she said she had good practice sessions

Ana and Novak don`t have immune system :tape:

Yes.. Ana was probably talking about the stomach virus she had in Madrid. Apart from disrupting practices, as I guess she took time off to get better.. I worry about how she approaches it. Ana can't deal with sickness or injury.. even minor ones get her head spinning.. she overreacts big time, and she just can't play when she has something bothering her.

I just hope this illness doesn't affect Ana that much.. I mean.. she doesn't take it too much as a limitation, as a possible excuse to losing. Not that she is making excuses.. but in her head it can work as such.. like.. "I can't do it.. I didn't have the preparation I wanted.. I'm not 100%".

Well i don`t know. It`s a GS tournament, she should try to win matches ,not to find excuses to lose them :o
Novak for example is still sick,he will probably lose in 4R ,hopefully not before
Ana on the other hand is healthy now and she should take advantage of that

Yeah.. she should take advantage of it.. she should be focused, and fight her heart out, give it all. It's a slam after all. But I just don't really trust Ana.. after seeing her going into the USO last year thinking about taking holidays, I just don't trust her to be completely in it anymore.. even if it's a slam. But I hope she does give her all, and fight hard for each and every point. And that she doesn't let anything affect her. She has some tough matches ahead of her if she wants to have a decent tournament, so she will need to be on and focused from the very first point. I hope she does have the extra motivation.

Who else

We should just like Ana take it match by match and don`t get too emotional or delusional .Ana can win a few matches but she can as well lose any of those matches
I also think it would be good for her not to lose in first and second round like it happened in last 2 GS

Yes.. we have to take it match by match.. but I can tell you I'll be pissed if I feel like she lost a match out of lack of fight. :o

I also think it's really important that she doesn't lose straight away.. another disappointment like this can be a blow to any little condifence she is managing to raise. It ban be a big step back. Ana needs to gets some solid results now.

Otherwise I also fear for Heinz... I want them to keep him.. :sobbing:

They were having a discussion of the FD Podcast at the blog Forty Deuce on how far Ana has to go to call the French Open a success for her. My opinion is she has to make the 4th round and defend her points from last year. To be honest, anything short of making at least the 4th round would be a disappointment to me. IMO, if you can't beat Radwanska once in 4 matches, you're a long ways off to ever being a top player. That match will tell me if Rome was a fluke or not. All I want is for Ana to defend as much of her 2009 points from RG-Wimbledon as possible and keep her ranking from falling much, because if she can play some solid tennis in these next two slams and keep her ranking close to where it is right now, she will put herself in a position to make a big move up the rankings in the 2nd half of the season with barely nothing to defend. I am looking at the big picture and the goal I am setting for Ana is get back to the top 25 or top 20 by seasons end.

Good post Curtis.

I listened to the podcast. I liked how Brodie was talking about the 3rd round and at some point he says something like.. "heck... how can 3rd round be satisfying? how mediocre.." I'm not sure if those were the words.. but it was this idea. I agree... Can't consider losing in the second or third round good at all. But then again.. as I've said before.. if she goes all the way to the QF only to lose to JJ, then I honestly prefer her to lose earlier.

3rd round is setting the bar low, but I can't blame any Ana fan who does. But it just goes to show how far she has fallen. :sobbing:

Losing to JJ would really suck, and I couldn't handle losing to her twice in a few weeks. However, I think I can stomach it just enough because she really needs a solid run. Losing early in a slam again would be too much for me. She has to eventually breakthrough again in a slam or she will never get out of this slump, I fear.

She needs to get a breakthrough at a slam, true. But it all comes down to Ana being dedicated and determined. Honestly.. she hasn't been like that at a slam in quite some time.

I can't stomach another loss to JJ, I can tell you that. So if she gets there, she better be ubber motivated to win. This is thiking too ahead though... there is a very tough road ahead.. and who knows what Ana will show up.. she is already saying she didn't prepare as she would have liked.

I just got home from a night out.. I'm debating with myself if I just stay awake to watch Kuzzy x Sorana.. or if I get a couple of hours of sleep.. :spit:

Anyway.. just saw a couple of videos of Ana posing for the Adidas SS10 fall-winter colection. I was sort of confused, as she posed with both the dresses and the two pieces for Wimbledon and USO. Pennetta also posed with the dresses. One really weird thing is that Ana had tight pants underneath them.. :spit:

The vídeo is here, if anyone wants to see it: http://www.thenewsmarket.com/Assets/AssetDetailsPage.aspx?GUID=ad7788e6-cbef-411d-8a32-3a6db0e928b2

You have to register though.. but it's free.

Also.. Ana took part of the adidas media day, yesterday at RG. There are a couple of shots of her doing interviews in this vídeo of the same web: http://www.thenewsmarket.com/Assets/AssetDetailsPage.aspx?GUID=3b061e90-b4d5-476e-a9fc-dee31ad97ad2

Adidas had a bunch of players dressed with the soccer shirts of their countries.. I guess all the players whose country is sponsored by adidas. Funny. Can I say Andrea Petkovic rocks? :spit:

Nice Curtis! It was obvious they had to change the name for Ana Ivanovic.. that way people can actually find her there. I'm not sure why they registered it as AI in the first place.. I mean.. who would search for Ana like that?

I'm sure she will get more and more and more followers. Ana is extremely popular. Maybe when they announce it over her web, she can get more than 50.000!
