Hey Jelena!

All she said about practicing is this:

Of course, before I go to Madrid I have important tournaments in Stuttgart and Rome. I am feeling positive about my training on clay. It’s my favourite surface and I am hoping I can continue the improvements I made in Miami, where I played some of my best tennis for a while against Radwanska.

The Stuttgart event is just two weeks away and I am working hard on my fitness and tennis with Damian and Heinz.

This probably means she has had 2 days of practice at most.. :spit:

guys ana has to find some positives and keep a positive mentality, that's why sometimes she sounds delusional. But, i agree saying "some of my best tennis" is too much, she could have said "i've seen some improvements", but definitively not some of her best tennis:tape:

Just recently saw a charming vid on the WTA page with Ana's proposed doubles partner;you can already tell from her features that young Jada:angel: is "Kim Junior".I kinda hope that Elena doesn't see the video or she might retire before RG:unsure:

Anyhow,Ana isn't the only one who has said that friendship is difficult in the WTA,but I think that Kim could be an exception to that rule....Can we dare to dream here??She's not gonna be jealous of Ana at all, she's more mature(pardon the HUGE understatement),and she seems to be the kind of person whose competitiveness doesn't get in the way of how she treats people off court. As a special bonus,I'd love it if Ana hung around with Kim and Brian for a bit:She'd get a first-hand view of the difference between a parasitic,shallow,one-sided relationship...and a mutual, legit, loving one...it might even open HER closed eyes:cool:

I think she is just being utterly defensive and that's not good. She is saying stupid stuff like that when she didn't need to say them at all.. and this attitude prevents her from actually improving.

In last 12 months probably only her Wimbledon wins against Stosur is her better display against some decent (TOP20 level) opponent.

Anyhow,Ana isn't the only one who has said that friendship is difficult in the WTA,but I think that Kim could be an exception to that rule....Ana is player which most often talking about this friendship problem maybe because she is unhappy more than others because that. Also I'm pretty sure that currently Ana already has great relationship not only with Kim Clijsters (of course that two nicest WTA girls easy make friendship), but also with some of not so famous "adidas girls" which she worked in near past as part of APDP (Lisicki, Molik, Cirstea, Arvidsson) which all 4 seems to me like very nice ladies.

Explain to me how getting broken a total of 7 TIMES!, serving 7 double faults and having a 1st serve percentage of just 59% is playing "some of her best tennis"? Lets be honest, she was awful in that match. The stats don't lie. Radwanska played like crap and still managed to beat Ana in straight sets.

Actually.. this is true Cp6uja.. I'm noticing Ana has been making friends or getting closer to other players in the last few months. Not only Kim, who obviously likes Ana and is nice to everyone, or ultimate Ana-KAD Arvidsson, but also others..

Actually, in the ABC interview couple of days ago in Madrid, Ana said that she now has quite a few friends on tour, that things are changing and that the new girls are a lot more open to friendship.

Spot on Curtis. Stats don't lie.. apart from that we had a few videos, and Ana looked sluggish and erratic. That just can't be her best tennis, even if we consider the "for a while"... she didn't even had to mention that match.. those kinds of deluded statements only make Ana sound stupid.

What I actually find funny is that Ana has absolutely no belief in herself.. it shows in her matches and in her decisions.. like bailing out of Fed Cup. But then comes up with those deluded statements. I truly think all this is her being extremely defensive, and it doesn't help her at all.. it actually just prevents her from making any progress.

I was just thinking about Fed Cup earlier today and how Ana said she isn't play due to her "poor form". Then he writes in her diary she thought she played well in Miami. If she actually thought she played well and sees improvements in her game, then pulling out of Fed Cup due to "poor form" doesn't add up. She is contradicting herself now. Sigh.

Hey Jelena!

I saw Mats as well.. he was in Thiemo de Bakker's box during his match against Nadal. Thiemo was one of the players invited to the Las Vegas tennis camp before IW this year, so he is a part of APDP. Mats, as we know, is also a part of hte APDP, he works as Sven's assistent and as hitting partners to the players.

About Ana.. I think she has decided to hit with other players during tournaments.. and during practice weeks, like now, she probably does have a hitting partner... someone from where she is practicing. It can't be Mats as he only hits with APDP players and Ana has opted out to work with Heinz.

I have no idea about where she is, but I guess either Mallorca or Switzerland. From her diary we could imply she only spent one day in Madrid.. a day trip as the title says.

No.. my problem was never with Ana sucking.. my problem was and still is with her attitude towards the game of tennis. I think it sucks big time. I first became a fan because I saw in her a real love for the game.. now I see that it was false.. she looks like she hates it now and doesn't even want to be playing. She looks miserable every single time she steps on a court to play a match. But at the same time she says bullshit like "I'm doing everything to get my form back", while she goes WAGing around. Takes the first opportunity to play an easy cash exho, but runs from real tournaments like a mouse from a cat. Goes on doing photoshoots in bikini, while losing any respect people have towards her as a tennis player. I've said it before and I'll say it a 1000 times.. I'm a die hard tennis fan since I was 8. Long before I even knew Ana exhisted I was already fooling my parents so I could stay up all night to watch the Australian Open. So her attitude is the problem to me, it looks like a disrespect towards tennis and it's what made me take a break from the forum. Things just added up... one after the other, until it boiled and I just got really really really pissed off. I've since calmed down a bit.. taken more patience into myself. But I still find her attitude awful, and I still think until she sees how wrong she is and changes, fixes her head, she won't get any result. She might practice 24-7, it will be to no effect if her focus and determination, if a top players attitude isn't there. And right now it isn't there.

But I'm not all that focused on results.. I want a see her with a new attitude. I'm sure the results will follow.. The thing is.. when will she realize she is wrong? I'm not sure if she will ever.. she is really sttuborn.

As for me and the forum.. not planning on taking any break.. but then again who knows? It's not related to Ana's results so I can't make any predictions.. it's her attitude.. so I never know if she can do something that will piss me off that much again.

Considering JJ, Clijsters, Henin.. will all be involved with Fed Cup and won't play until tuesday, I'd say Ana's chances of playing monday is quite high, so there won't be coverage. :sobbing: So unless Ana wins, we most probably won't be able to watch.. bummer.. This. Also curious about her footwork and if clay will give her fh some confidence since she'll know everything won't be lost (points-construction wise) even if her serve is at usual levels of appalling.

Folks,I've been looking for a LEGIT reason for optimism for a long time,so I don't think I'm grasping at straws here.Let me re-state it in a simpler way:

When Ana hired Kardon in 2009,I'm pretty damned sure she knew that she could fire him whenever she wanted...with only mild criticism resulting,at worst. She knew,I'll bet, that people would question Kardon's credentials and suitability w/o blaming Ana that much. However,Heinz is a completely different deal, and I think that even Ana realized it...to at least some extent.Though Ana might not have read THIS part,Heinz came out and criticized Dokic, publicly questioning her commitment....I don't know if that was before or after their professional relationship, but the bottom line is that Heinz is no spineless coward...PLUS,due to his history with Graf,he has a ton more credibility than Kardon did.

I agree. I think Heinz will be good for Ana. Hopefully he'll crack his whip everytime he feels Ana isn't doing the work. But it seems like she's enjoying working with him. I really hope that Ana starts playing well soon and by well I mean winning back to back matches without much drama. Its so mentally draining watching her struggle.

This. Also curious about her footwork and if clay will give her fh some confidence since she'll know everything won't be lost (points-construction wise) even if her serve is at usual levels of appalling.

"Clay is a sucky server's best friend" indeed.

(I'm not going to lie, I'm sort of giving up on her. )

I relate to you.. I can tell you that..

It's hard to keep believing when Ana's slump has been longer than her time at the top 10. :sobbing:

Hypothetically speaking,if Heinz felt that it were crucial to work on something...and Ana felt like watching golf...then he'd basically tell her,"You better decide if you wanna be a REAL tennis player or just a tennis/model who dillies around with all of this WAGging bulls--t!"....Though that might piss Ana off for a sec, she'd have to see what a complete joke she'd become if she fired Heinz for THAT.It wouldn't matter what she said in her presser, and Versi could sit there for hours thinking up excuses.NO ONE with an ounce of credibility would respect Ana's decision or take her seriously anymore...she wouldn't even believe her own excuses once she saw that 99.9% of the tennis media was laughing at her.Essentially,I only envision two realistic options for Ana:(1)Retire or (2)Get with the program that Heinz is pitching to her....Even firing Heinz and running back to Sven at ADPD wouldn't work since everyone would see right through that fraud. If Ana has ANY fire for tennis left at all, then I believe that Heinz can help her re-claim it:cool:

I think it's not that simple Bruce.

If Ana has no results whatsoever during clay season I very much doubt she will keep Heinz. And she can go out and say they simply didn't match. That would be a legitimate reason, even though she could and should probably try out for more time. A coach can be awesome, but not necesarily will match up well and produce results with every single player. A coach can be ok, and produce great results with a player, simply because they fit.

Besides that, I think when they signed the contract Ana's management definitely wrote there that Heinz had to commit to not bad mouth Ana or even really talk much about her during the contract and after it. I'm pretty sure they have these kind of lines in the contracts they sign with personal for the team. They are so secretive with so many things, that I think they control what goes out with all the possible weapons. So I don't think Heinz would even be allowed to go out to the press and say all Ana wants to do is WAG, like he did with Dokic.

About taking Ana seriously.. unfortunately, I don't think anyone in the tennis world really takes Ana seriously anymore. This slump has taken so long... with her always saying the same stuff ("I've learned from this.. I won't let it get so bad anymore.. I'm ready to get back o the top 10... Results are just around the corner.. blablabla")... and things only getting worse and worse.. that I just don't think people have all that much faith in her anymore. I've read around that the popular consensus among tennis writers is that Ana has one slam wonder written all over her and that she will join history as the most puzzling and disappointing and one of a kind fall from grace there ever was from tennis. Very few think she can turn it around. And truth is, her changing coaches all the time is also badly seen around the tennis world. But I doubt she will stick with a coach that doesn't get her any results, simply because that's probably the thing she uses to convince herself she is trying.. like working with different people could mean she is searching for solutions. At the end of the day, people just don't take her seriously anymore.

All that saddens me.. but it's jut what I think. I think she is just waiting for things to happen.. waiting to suddenly, like magic, snap out of the slump and start winning. That's why she refuses to grind... deep down she things she doesn't need to, because once the magic happens, she can go far in all the big tournaments. That's retarted thinking.. And it's costing her too much.. it's costing her career. Then when things insist in not going her way, she just changes the elements around when she should realize she has to change herself, her attitude towards tennis. But well..

I really hope she suddenly starts to play great during clay season and wins a lot of matches. Mostly because she would probably keep Heinz if that were to happen. And because it would maybe mean she has her head back. With her head back and such a great coach, she might just improve her shots and tennis ability, which would be amazing to see.

And yeah.. it feels like so long because the last time we could actually get a stream was Fed Cup.. and on TV the AO. Ana has only played 11 matches in 4 months.. only 9 on the tour.. only 7 in WTA tournaments, 4 of those in MM Brisbane. Sad.. :tape:

Ana would definately be one of the strangest one slam wonders ever if she never regains her form, like you said Izzy. I'm not even going to try to predict how she'll do on the dirt this year. Firing Hienz would be a huge mistake, even if she went winless during the clay court season. She needs to accept the blame and not put it on her coaches. She's the one who is deciding to take weeks/months off instead of playing. I still believe firing Craig Kardon was a mistake. Even bigger a mistake was waiting to mid February to hire Heinz when she should of had hired him immediately after the US Open last year so that they had the entire off-season to work with each other and begin the new season with a plan.

I don't think Nando deserved 0 and 1. He did put up resistance, but it wasn't enough. I think you keep simplifying things..

First of all.. if it's on the contract, then I doubt Heinz would violate it. You don't really need to make a splash to the press saying you will sue someone for what he said, to make him fulfill a signed contract. It can be as simple as getting the contract to specify fines in case the contract is not followed. I'm pretty sure anyone who works with Ana has to sign stuff like that. They keep the info very much in control, and that is hard having worked with so many different people over the years. So even Heinz came to the press to bad mouth Ana somehow, he would simply be made to pay a large sum without anyone even knowing about it. The implications you imply wouldn't happen. Besides that, they already look like idiots often.. that's not something knew to them. The ultra defensive interviews given by Holzman and Gavin are already a huge example of looking like idiots.

The fact that Ana hired Heinz doesn't mean anything.. or maybe it only means she gave in to the pressure of the outside world to hire a coach.. I feel like Ana does this or that to kind of fool people and herself that she is trying, so she can keep with the WAGing and little playing without it looking all that bad. Maybe even fool herself. Like.. "Hey, I'm trying.. I just hired a big time coach." But in reality I don't think there has been any change whatsoever in her, in her approach to tennis.. I keep seeing the same thing over and over and over again. I don't see it giving her any more credibility at all.. few still take her seriously.

And I do think she will part ways with him if clay season is a failure. Her web made it clear for me.. They will evaluate things again after clay season and they would have worked together 4 months without any results. I highly doubt Ana would keep faith after that.. and she has to do something to say she is still trying.. that is change things around her, because she has showed no intentions of changing the root of the problem, herself.

As usual.. I hope I'm wrong.. unfortunately, I haven't been much wrong in the past. Actually, hopefully Ana can rock the clay and then keeping Heinz will be a no-brainer.

When does Stuttgart draw come out?

Probably next saturday or maybe even sunday..

Stuttgart only starts in a week. This week we have Fed Cup, so no WTA tournaments.

She won`t fire Heinz,he is Holzman`s friend, and that is the main reason why he accepted this job.If she fires him...well...as someone said recently:"I`ll take it as a signal that she`s had enough and is on her way out".

Being Holzman friend has nothing to do with it.. If she gets no results in 4 months, I doubt they will keep him.. They will probably just say even thought Heinz is an amazing coach, Ana and him simply didn't match. Ana and her management are running out of excuses, and if clay season is a flop, she will soon be out of the top 100. They brought Heinz along to at least stop the fall.. and if she spends 4 months with no result and falls out of the top 100, I doubt they would keep him as he would not be fulfulling the role they had for him. It has nothing to do with friendship.. it's business.

I agree with the last part.. I still can't believe she was so stubborn to go all off season without a fitness coach, and thinking since she had Sven it would suddenly be 2008 again. If Ana and her management were thinking remotely clear and interested in her tennis career, they would have hired her a proper team (tennis coach + fitness coach) before the off season, so she could have had a good preparation. But she was obviously more interested in her holidays and WAGing around and her managers know nothing about the game of tennis.

As a result Ana has never been so sluggish on court, nor played such club level tennis. Things have fallen way too low. I cringe everytime I see things like her pressers from late last year and early this year saying she had learned a lot from the slump and she just would never let it get so bad again. Well.. it only got worse! :tape:

As I admitted,I can't disprove your theories...and you HAVE been right on so many things, but not everything...your usually sharp instincts were wrong when you believed that Ana was just friends with the A.A.T.--and aye WISH you'd been right on THAT one.

If Heinz refuses to pay a fine,THEN they'll have to pursue litigation--even if he agreed in advance to certain stipulations...and that would only cause a bigger stink in the media than would be worthwhile for Ana's team to pursue...they'd be better off just bad-mouthing Heinz for 'betraying Ana's confidence'...even though the whole world would agree with him that Ana lacked commitment

We're debating shades of gray,basically:You think that Ana is already a complete joke(unless I'm misinterpreting your comments:angel:...which is possible)...and I don't believe she's there yet.Her attitude isn't what it ought to be,but I don't think she's Vaidisova quite yet...emphasis on 'yet'

You are just too harsh. I wouldn't be here if I thought Ana was a joke. I think she is just not taken serious anymore by the tennis world. And with reason.. Obviously I also think she is not doing what she should to recover her tennis.

And no.. If Heinz signed on a contract predicting a fine, he would be made to pay, without such buzz on the press. Contract law is pretty straight foward.. At the end of the day, he would be made to pay regarless, since he agreed with it in the first place. These fines are usually huge to avoid getting any sort of issue. Heinz will probably just not say a thing because he knows that no matter what, at the end of the day, the contract has to be fulfilled. Even if Ana's management elected to let him of the hook as you sugest, they would have to sign an agreement and there would be a lot of implications. Once you let someone off the hook in a contract, any company that gets associated with you will find itself with the right to not follow the contract, and expect you to make a compromise. This can mean the loss of a lot of money and the lack of credibility on any sort of contract. This is pure law and business. So I think it would be easier for them to just impose the contract. But as I've said.. anyone with a brain wouldn't break a rule of a contract that imposed a big fine.. and then much less would refuse to pay it. And I'm pretty sure they have this in their contracts. Every big time athlete has it.. besides, Ana's team is so strict with info.. you barely get any leaked stuff.. and that only happens with contracts that stipulate silence.

I have been right about Ana's tennis.. which is what matters at the end of the day. I wish I had been wrong in so many ocasions.. :sobbing:

The bolded part actually made me crack up.. I mean.. we have been postponing that deadline for so long, I'm sure by the end of the year we will say that for some moment next year, and so on..Izzy,you can speak for YOURSELF or other fans, because I haven't set ANY deadlines up until now...though I understand what you mean when you refer to postponed deadlines. This is the first time that I've done this b/c Ana has sunk far enough in the rankings that she shouldn't lack any motivation to improve now....PLUS she has a championship-level coach who can give her blunt advice as opposed to a lot of the crap that Sven was feeding her.My thinking is:If she doesn't get fired up fairly soon, then it means that she has quit inside...even if she doesn't do so officially due to those obligations you mentioned. You might counter that Ana should have been fired up a long time ago...and I wouldn't dispute that...but I'm cutting Ana some slack since she doesn't possess the killer instinct that other champions have had...and she didn't learn jack s--t from her parents on how to handle adversity in life...so that partially accounts for why it takes her longer than other players to adjust to difficult obstacles.

You're wrong on ONE point:Ana's loyal fans haven't deserted her yet,but even THEY will eventually turn their focus elsewhere--despite their affection for Ana--if she indisputably demonstrates that she has quit trying....I hope that I literally put a smile on your face with my comments that 'cracked you up' b/c you're a moody Brasilera:p and I suspect that you sometimes go w/o smiling for too long of a stretch:hug:

Q. At first I want to say, that i am a big fan of you=). I just want to ask, what are your plans for the next 10 years? Any goals ? I mean, besides the sport carrier and success in tennis, maybe founding family an so on. What are your plans?

Ana:
My goals haven't really changed: I want to win all the Grand Slams. I am comfortable on all surfaces, so I believe I can do it. There's plenty of time to start a family when I have finished playing tennis, but that won't be for a long time. For sure having my own family is very important to me. I love kids.

:haha: That's not happening. Just focus on getting back to the top 50 and win a few matches in a row before thinking about winning the career slam.

Those deluded goals are a problem.. she should get some realistic ones and really focus on that. Every goal she reaches she can move on to a bigger one. But seeing only the biggest goal of all will only make it harder to make the little humble steps needed to get in position to have such dreams. Thinking only about winning slams makes it so much harder to get on court and find ways to beat someone outside of the top 100, because you question why you're having so much trouble, when in reality you should be winning slams.. and then the natural thing is that you just lose that match, and get further and further tennis wise and confidence wise to fulfill any goal at all.

Ana Ivanovic (F): She's in Majorca preparing Plan C - or is it Plan H or Z? - in her quest to be what she once was: a contender. In all likelihood, that's over, and that has to be hard to take. Come the summer, her slump will "celebrate" its two-year anniversary.

The Serb is down to No. 57 in the rankings, is 5-6 on the season and is skipping Serbia's Fed Cup playoff tie vs. Slovania this weekend.

About upcoming Ana's Stuttgart draw I just want to notice one interesting detail: if Ana will not draws some of qualifiers in 1st round of this event, she will face for the first time since may of 2005 better ranked opponent than she is already at her opening match (Kuznetsova from 2007 and 2010 is not counting because YEC's round robin and FED CUP Day1 matches are not classics "opening rounds")!

I'm all alone.. :sobbing:..

So.. I'll leave you guys a quote for thought.. I found it very interesting... It's from the book City of Thieves, by David Banioff.

Talent must be a fanatical mistress: she is beautiful. When you are with her, people watch you, they notice. But she bangs on your door at odd hours, and she disappears for long stretches and she has no patience for the rest of your existence: your wife, your children, your friends. She is the most thrilling evening of your week, but some day she will leave you for good. One night, after she's been gone for years, you will see her on the arm of a younger man and she will pretend not to recognize you.

^Wow Izzy, scary quote.

Hey Aaron!

Yeah.. scary.. but interesting.. I mean.. talent does have that sort of behaviour sometimes.. in a metaphorical way obviously.

Take a tennis player.. when he/she is showcasing his/her talent, everybody is at awe. But it's not always that this talent shows up.. ad it demands such huge dedication and sacrifices, you come to wonder how it really has no patience to put up with you having much off court life. The reward of showcasing the talent and conquering dreams with it is the highlight of your time, so you just endure. It does come a time, though, that it simply goes away.. a pro tennis life on court is not that long, especially for girls. And then talent goes to someone younger, fresher, who is coming up.

Drama queen  jk
Great quote ,i like it :)

I watched polish movie Katyn tonight
Very good one,but definitely not a movie for Friday night  :tape:
Serbian and polish language have many similar words :p

I will definitely try to watch more foreign movies that are not from Hollywood
Can you recommend any good Brazilian movie ? :p

I guess so. When Steffi Graf plays she's still talented though. So I guess it depends.

Hey Jelena!

Just last week I went to the cinema to watch a pretty good brazilian movie called "As Melhores coisas do mundo" (The best things in the world). I especially liked it because it's not about favelas.. which is like the most common theme in movies. There are a couple of classic great brazilian movies like Central Station and City of God. The last one is pretty violent, but a great movie nonetheless.

Yeah.. I'm pretty tired of hearing we should be patient.. Ana has sucked for more time than she actually played well.. And no, she doesn't have all the time in the world. :o

I wonder what will she say if she is out of the top 100 next january... that she is just "now" on the right track? :o

Actually, the best scenario would be to draw a rusty Henin who will make 50 UEs in a 6-2 6-0 loss to Ana.

It would've been better if Juju did that in the 07 French Final. Then Ana would have two slams. :p

I'm watching Verdasco x Ferrer.

You know.. what Verdasco has showcased this whole week is what Ana is missing in her matches. He hasn't played his best tennis at all.. was close to lose in at least a couple of matches, including today... but when it mattered, he suddenly woke up and got some great points together. He was able to just stay strong, calm, composed while playing like crap.. manage to find ways to just keep going, keep close in the match.. and at clutch time, he stepped up and made the win. I have to say I'm impressed. Also.. he looks like he really wants to play some tennis.. even when down a set and a break.. you see he still wants to play and play.

Ana has been losing so many matches she should have won.. so so many.. and mostly because everytime there was an important point, every clutch time, every deciding moment, she would just chicken out, fall apart, and play even worse.. some very WTF? tennis. Looking back at when Ana was actually good, she was able to win most of her close matches.. she could keep strong. She lost that.. and the lack of it is what prevents her from winning any match at all. And obviously, as a result, her tennis is deteriorating.

I'm already impressed.. The SF is over.. He won't choke a 5-0 lead against a lost Ferrer.

About the final.. if he faces Soderling, it will be tough. But maybe he gets De Bakker..

Anyone is free to comment on--or ignore;)--this one:Would it affect Ana's mindset & motivation if she spent a lot of time with someone else who had a Loser Mentality??Hypothetically speaking, let's say that Ana had a rich, spoiled, close friend from childhood who never even looked for a job and still lived at home with her parents. If Ana hung around with her,do you think that other gal's indifferent, blase attitude towards Ana's slump would rub off on her at all, even in subtle ways...or would Ana disregard that since it didn't come from a tennis insider??

Maybe it wouldn't help her.. but nothing more than that IMHO.Maybe you're right, but there are LOTS of cases in the NFL and NBA where players don't really mature emotionally and become dependable performers until they've broken ties with some of their lowlife hangers-on that have carried over from childhood.Once the athlete severs his connection with the deadbeats who wanna go clubbing all night and hit them up for money, their on-field(or -court)performances tend to get at least somewhat better.

Ana's situation isn't completely analogous cuz she's not running the streets or getting into fights in nightclubs...but she has had a Loser Mentality for a while now...and I don't think that she can mature as a person if she continues to hang around the same losers who re-inforce and encourage the mentality she has shown for most of RG 2008-Present Day.I don't think that Dan Holzmann falls into that category...but there are a few who DO
