I just noticed that they changed Ana's name on her facebook profile from AI to Ana Ivanovic and now her followers jumped all the way up to past 26,000!

i asked for that! i wrote in her wall that she should change the name from AI to Ana Ivanovic because it was not possible to find her:lol:

Thanks for the vid. :) I love both her Wimbledon and USO outfits but I don't like the tights. I think she has two versions for USO, the 1st one in the vid is better IMO.

The first outfit in the video is the adilibria 2 piece. I guess it's the one everyone from the adilibria line will be wearing.

The WTA website has a fluff piece on Henin which only refers to a 'controversy' in the 2003 semis;you can't expect them to show any backbone and tell it like it is:Justine LIED and CHEATED like a slimy worm and should be considerd as such until the day arrives when she finally shows some integrity and fesses up.That's why, despite Justine's excellence on clay,I didn't make any apologies when :hearts:Ana:hearts: won the RG title in her absence....I laughed my ass off:lol: when I saw the stunned look on Henin's face following the 2007 Wimby sf loss to my erratic French gf Bartoli

4. Which under-the-radar player has the best chance to steal a title?

Ford: Does Ana Ivanovic count as under the radar? You can never discount a previous winner, no matter what her recent history is. Ivanovic showed signs of awakening from her long competitive slumber this spring.

I fear this may be right. If Kleybanova gets to see a replay of this she will laugh her head off and get a very, very good night's sleep dreaming of Ana's DFs. The quality of the match was appalling. Neither player could serve at all. Ana was doublefaulting every single service game- at least one per service game, consistently- and KCC couldn't hit a return in to save her life. So many errors from both of them. The way Ana was playing she could not have beaten almost anyone else. KCC played probably the worst match she has played in a year, and still was not totally out of the match.

Ana matches her DFs record.. only this time she did it in less games. Everything was awful... luckily for her (and us), Chang was worse. I don't think the toss has ever been worse.. it matches her worse days.

Ironically, Ana serve is actually her biggest weapon today! Chang has more winners, same number of UE's and less DF's, but still easy lose. Its mostly because Ana's serve-winners which official statistics not follow (its not ace, or winner or opponent UE)! I think that this match prove my theory about Ivanovic REAL serve problem in near past. It's not that pathetic ball-toss, or DF's... but simple luck of power! Today toss was awful, number of DF's is scandalous - but her serve have power, and that's works! At last two slams Ana not hit any faster 175+ serve, but today she start again to hit 190+ serves again.

But against seeded players she simple needs her forehand or even Kleybanova can beat her :help:

What kills me is that after she serves, she doesn't move! She just stands there and gets out of balance when the ball comes flying back. Getting outhit by Chang is not good, especially when you have to play against Kleybanova next. But she won and that gives her a chance to play another match. Watching Ana serve is like russian roulette: you never know.

I wonder if she can be that deluded. Possibly not, but she'll find something positive to say, something like "it's good for my character", or "the first round is always a tough one at a slam, it's good to get through it".

I actually feel pretty bad for Kai Chen. I mean, when Ana beats someone, I'd like them to feel like, well, that was too good, but we played some pretty good tennis, no shame in losing to her. Instead, Kai Chen must be thinking, how the heck did I lose to this girl. My god, I'm worse than someone who can't hit two serves in in a row. We didn't even have any decent rallies. So ashamed. Please kill me.

Yes, but a lot of those missed returns would have been returned by someone like Kleybanova. A lot of them. There were a huge number of missed returns off second serves and other very returnable serves. I like that she served some hard first serves, but she didn't really earn most of the missed returns.

Look at the stats - I suppose the reason that she's DFing so often might just be that she's hitting her second serve VERY hard. Average speed 145 kmh. I don't think it's a good enough excuse for Ana though. She was just serving without thinking, she was too busy reacting to her toss. She can't hit a proper topspin serve unless the toss is right, and half the time it's just in an awkward place. Serena's 138 kmph second serve, high over the net with kick is a totally different animal.

Kleybanova occasionally has very bad days. Not as often as Ana, but sometimes. I remember when she played absolutely hopelessly and lost easily to Makarova in a semi in Fes last year. Ana needs Kleybanova to have a very bad day, the worst day of her year. Then she will have maybe a 50-50 chance. If Kleybanova has an okay day... then Ana will need a miracle.

One way this might happen is if the crowd is so behind Ana that it gets into Kleybanova's head. However if Alisa stays calm, then this shouldn't faze her. I fear that now the outcome of this match depends on Alisa more than Ana. If Alisa plays okay, she will win. Ana will most likely be too passive to control the outcome.

But finally, I think that since I work every day with Heinz, I see improvements. We have worked hard my serve and my ground strokes that I feel more free, I can let go of my shots. I feel more at comfortable on court and I do, increasingly, I am more consistent. I have always tried to be consistent and now everything falls into place. I am very interested because I sometimes feel like results immediately. It has long I play games but I have not played for a long time now. There are a lot of emotion, it's true. Now it's my mind because I still counts doubts. I feel good now about the way I play. I tried so many things in my service is a joke, I have not done it for six months. "

Jelena,I'm not complaining, but I'm slightly curious as to why you've been using the ":hearts:" emoticon in unusual places. As with your post above....I can see where you'd have affection for Ana despite her emotional idiocy...yet I can't envision why you'd use ":hearts:" to refer to Ana's struggling to return serve.........Perhaps this is some new Masonic code for Ana fans:lol:
I`m using ":hearts:" bc i`m just loving Ana`s game,movement,serve...

"my service is a joke" is absolutely true, but it's probably just a peculiarity of google translation. No way Ana is that self-aware. "Very clean 6/3 6/3"? What planet were they watching from? DAVAJ MKirilenko, I'm not sure what gif you were trying to post... I assume the hilarious falling about 2 m to the left framed serve?

It wasn't her best match, but on the other side, it wasn't the worst !
Regarding her serve...it's a joke . She could serve so well on a point, and on the next one it was so bad... She has to improve her serve to go further !

Quotes from Ana's web:

“First of all, I'm very happy to be back,” said Ana when asked for her thoughts on the match. “To win here the first match was lots of nerves and it was a little bit difficult also to play someone I have never seen play before.

“So it was a lot of nervousness involved, but I’m very happy to get through that. Actually, even though I didn't think the match was really that good, I felt on my groundstrokes I was striking the ball well. That's good, and I got the win. So I can move on and get better.”

Positive 2: I didn't lose a set.
Positive 3: I'm still in the tournament.
Positive 4: I get to play another singles match.
Positive 5: I probably can't play worse in the next round (fingers crossed)
Positive 6: I wasn't on centre court or anything so a lot of people might not have seen how I played. And the score gives the illusion I played well.
Positive 7: The crowds here still seem to like me even if I doublefault a lot.
Positive 8: Everyone forgives me for tossing multiple times when I serve. I've finally gotten everyone used to it.

Did he really say that? :help: If Mats is saying that he's confused. Just shows that great players tend to speak from their own experience and may not readily understand the difficulties other players face. Federer does not have a bad toss. Purposely varying the serve is totally different from not even knowing where your toss is going to end up. Mats has probably never had a bad toss so he doesn't understand the stress it causes, he's thinking of it as if it's extra variation, but he forgets that it's unintentional and out of Ana's control, which means it cannot be exploited at will by her. And Ana already attempts to play a lot of different tosses :tape:. She chases the ball non stop. Some of her contact points are entirely new ones for the tennis world.

He said that in stead of trying to toss the ball in the same place all the time, she should learn how to hit the bad tosses as a way of varying the serve. Mats says alot of things that don't make sense . She needs to control the toss first before actually varying it.

Even at her best, Kleybanova is not that good at clay, so Ana is still (big?) favorite against Kleybanova, and I'm sure that Ana can't repeat this sh*ty performance again, but even with improvement, if she not switch her game strategy from defensive and passive to very aggressive - already next opponent (Safina/Zvonareva) will be the last one here.

Anyhow, one thing I haven't heard from ANYone yet:Overconfidence......Now before you say that Ana had NO reason to be overconfident, let's not forget that she's only human.KCC's clay-court history would lead lots of players to believe that she posed no threat...and today's resuly bore that out.....TWELVE DFs for Ana...overall crappy play...and she STILL didn't even come close to losing...as you'd expect when your opponent is a clay-court crash-test dummy. Before we declare Rome a complete fluke, let's see how Ana does vs. Big Mama.I'm not ready to say 100% fluke yet b/c Ana did some things in Rome, from a mental strength standpoint, that she hadn't done in 2 years...and I'm not gonna write them off as flukes......YET;)

The stats look bad you see, but the match was even worse.I know it sound silly, but I will repeat once again - Ana won today's match mostly thanks to serve!? Yes she has 12DF's in 6-3 6-3 match (which is equal to 20DF's in 6-3 5-7 6-3 match :tape:), her ball toss todays looks much worse than You expect to see from anybody even from juniors girls draw here, but on other hand she obviously finally back some power into her 1st serve and risky angles into 2nd. For first time since Wimbledon 2008 she has 190+ serve speed an in cases when her 2nd serve is IN - she won 14 out of 19 points, so after utter-pathetic 1-3* start Ana never been broken again in this match. So worst thing in this match is not Ana serve, but passive forehand and just 9 winners in whole match against such hopeless opponent. So she just need to back power in her forehand like she do that with serve, and even if that will looks ugly, with many UE's, it will still be much effective, especially against good defenders. In history of womens tennis there will never be some good 185+ tall defender or pusher, so how many hard she try to became that - results will always be mediocre! Even only tall exception with potentially elite defense Venus Williams, always insist on very aggressive game style (with reason of course). Ana should to try to be once again pure represent of WTA power-tennis, and let's hope against Kleybanova she will start with that strategy (just couple months ago she try to overdefense Kleybanova in FED CUP and won just 5 games in whole match!).

If Ana met anyone else she would be sent home with bagel and breadstick :oMy point is that her serve even with so many DF's and ball toss problem is still effective when she put some power into that, unlike her forehand which is without extra power simple useful. Ana attacking in Rome and Madrid so good Dementieva, Azarenka, Petrova and Jankovic serve, but today against GOAT Chang if we not count DF's Ivanovic won just 3 points on opponent serve in whole 2nd set (luckily 2+2DF is from that crucial break)!!! So against very passive Ana this Chang obviously looks not that bad today, and she won all that points after rallies, but when Ana serve, she obviously can't handle with Ana attacking opening shot. So I insist that Ana worst today's shot is forehand and not because she has many mistakes from that side, but simple because she not trying to do almost anything with her biggest weapon from past. On other hand her serve with all that DF's and ugly ball-toss still was effective - because she back power into her serve, which I strongly recommend to her to do with her forehand.

Ana's serve was not effective at all.. what happened is that Chang had allergy to returning.. a huge tendency to mishit. Any other player would have returned all those serves.. they were really not that good... but Chang would send a ball to the crowd time and again. It was because she sucked so badly that Ana could win, there was nothing in Ana's game that looked remotely decent today.

I do agree that she needs to attack with the forehand.. but she simply has no power in her game. None. So when she does try to attack, it's unnatural, and she misses.. usually to the net.

Any other player would have returned all those serves.. they were really not that good... You are wrong if You really thinking that in WTA so many girls will easy handle with 175+, 180+, 185+, 190+ fast serves, even at clay. For example where disappear yesterday all that fantastic in-form MJMS "attacking opponent serve" skills when she finally meat opponent (Akgul) able to serve 170+ in average! Against MJMS in Rome Ana don't have too many ball toss or DF's problems like today, but also there was no extra-power in Ana serve that day, so MJMS several times with success even drop-shoted Ana's serve! Actually I think that main reason why young Chang have no idea what to do with Ana fast balls is because she not face that situation so often during her short pro-career (she come from ITF circuit to WTA tour in late 2009).

Can we guys just be happy she's through at the moment...without saying Kleybanova is going to crush her or sth like that ;)
Yes it was a bad play but like she said those groudstrokes form Cheng were pretty strong and Ana was clearly struggling with her toss again.
But let's just hope she'll step it up in the next round and see what happens.I think if she manages to improve on her serve she can win since her BH and FH were ok today, not as effective as they should've been but she clearly struggled to find her rhythm with Cheng playing so agressive.

Yes.. that was actually refreshing to see.. a more realistic overview is always better.. keeps you grounded and focused on the things you need to improve.

I think this is reflexion of Heinz being brutally honest with her. I think it's great. Hopefully Ana uses this wisely and to her benefit.. she needs to play a lot better next match.

Ana Ivanovic TennisForum subforum are actually only place on net where Alisa Kleybanova is noted like favorite by majority in upcoming RG R2 match
W.Hill betting odds on Ana is 1.57 (on Kleybanova 2.25) and odds from all others bookmakers are similar; clay is Ivanovic favorite surface and worst for Kleybanova, Ana is former RG champion and finalist, and Kleybanova just tied her career best RG result with this 2nd round, Ana best claycourt result this season is Rome semifinal and for Alisa is 2nd round of Madrid... so of course that Ana is favorite... Favorite not means always "sure winner" of course - but ANA IS CLEAN FAVORITE in this case, no doubt.

Ana served and played so badly against Chang, that it wouldn't have been enough against basically anyone else in the draw. She was lucky her opponent sucked more. Besides.. Kleybanova's game bothers Ana a lot, which was obvious every time they played. If she doesn't get the serve to work, Kleybs will most probably win. The only time Ana managed to beat her was when Ana had 13 aces in 2 sets, her record.

I'm watching Sharapova and it's already pouring a bit..

Ana used to do really well in damp conditions because she had enough power to hit through it.. but now she is playing like a pusher.. and really doesn't have all that power anymore. She would have trouble finishing off points.

But.. damp conditions shouldn't help Kleybanova either..

I think a slower court would be more beneficial for Ana than Kleybanova. That will make it harder for Kleybanova to outhit Ana and that is very easy nowadays. She really needs to play more agressively not just stand there and push the ball back and hope for an UE from the opponent. Ana CANT turn into a pusher!

The most difficult task in the 2nd The first round will have the former lady of Paris tennis, Ana Ivanovic, who is also the show and najbleđe release at the start. Waiting is unpleasant Russian Alisa Klejbanova (WTA 28).
- I was against it, a lot of tough matches, but never played on clay, which I prefer. It's a good player and in any case, will certainly be a difficult match. There are several things that I want to because, but, I feel quite well. I'm happy in Rome had a chance to play so many matches against top players and get them, which gives me a lot of confidence to meet with Kleybanova. I expect a very tough match, but I think I have a chance - said the announcement was Anna.

I don't know what's the issue with all the DFs... really.. it seems she is gunning for her personal record every time now. But that's really bad.. she shouldn't have been nervous against either. JJ was the favorite.. and the one who was supposed to win. And Chang has no wins on clay in WTA main draws. I can understand that matches against JJ mean a lot, and that yesterday was a Grand Slam first round, which also means much considering Ana's recent grand slam record.. but still.. she should never be making all those DFs and chasing ridiculous ball tosses.

My only hope is that Heinz reaches out to her.. but still.. She should man up and be more focused. It's all on her.

Maybe one good thiung though is that she seems to be starting to acknowledge it. I mean... she said it herself in her presser... it's not about the match anymore at times.. but about her emotions and her mindset.. also because she hasn't played many matches in ages. I think Ana will be a bit more relaxed against Kleybanova, or at least I hope so. She was really nervous against Chang probably because it was the first round of a Grand Slam. But there is NO excuse for that many DF. She has a good chance of winning, she just has to control her nerves and not be so passive all the time. I have never seen Kleybs on clay before. It doesn't matter if she doesn't play well on clay or not because she will eat Ana alive if Ana gives her short balls with no pace on them.
