I saw the entire match. After Venus breezed in the ist set, Venus took a 4-2 lead in the 2nd set, but Vinci took away the momentum tieing the match at 4-4. It appeared Vinci had a forehand winner at 30-30 in game 9 down the right side line, but Veuns raced with her daddy long leg strides, not only retrieving the ball, but turning it into a 2 hand backhand crosscourt for a winner. Right after that play Venus would carry the momentum the rest of the way.

Their were times during the match when Vinci managed to keep the ball low with her one hand backhand slice. After awhile, it was just not enough. Vinci showed a fairly weak forehand throughout the match.

Hate to put down Roberta Vinci, but she's just not athlete enough to compete with Venus. She doesn't run fast enough, and she doesn't generate enough pace. Some of those points in the first set were just impossible. And I don't mean impressive, so much as the execution of the point was well within safe margins, and still Venus won them easily.

Vinci hit shot that lands a meter short of the service line, Venus power to Vinci's backhand, Venus two strides to net, volley winner.
