Apparently it does; the poll is 50-50 so far! Despite Caro being 4-0 and winning 0 & 3 last week. It just goes to show how many people are hoping against hope for Caro to lose.

Well, I voted for Maria but not because I want Caroline to lose, I just think Maria will beat her at some point and she is much fresher than Caroline going into this match.

Kiri has beaten Venus and Maria before, they both are way better players than Caro (hence their perfect H2H against Caro).
So Kiri is definitely able to beat Caro. :p

That's the way. :yeah:

Caro had to cancel her doubles match today because she's sick with flu-like symptons. Knowing Caro she'll probably try to play tomorrow (she did against Petrova and Wozniak under similar circumstances) but she won't be 100% fit. MK's chances of making it to 4R suddenly look a lot better.

The 19 posters saying Maria will win really ought to get a bet on it and make themselves some money if they are right especially if Caro is under the weather with flu-like symptoms. The bookies are so confident that Caro will win that you can get odds of 4-1 on Maria winning this match.

Just checked *******. 4.6-4.8 for Kiri. Considering Caroline is in her hotel bed with flu/viral infection (?) those odds seem rather generous.

 Oh please, save that compassionate crap. I felt sorry for her after the back injury at the FO after everyone was saying that it was career threatening and that she would never be the same player again, then she came back two weeks later and won Eastbourne. And then with that whole retiring debacle at one of the indoor tournaments last year among numerous other events; in my eyes she is the girl who cried wolf injury. She may be telling the truth but it's more likely that she just didn't want to play with AMG as she wa sprobably making Caroline push even more than normal. I wouldn't blame her one bit.

"She is ill at home at the hotel with fever, sore throat and flu-like symptoms. It is a lot of different things, that do, that she can't play, and she's not so good," says Piotr Wozniacki to ekstrabladet.dk.

Other sources may come later, so there is still hope.

I've seen chunks of at least a couple of the previous Sunshine d. Kirilenko matches, and I remember thinking "This is what watching Nadal d. Robredo must feel like".

As for the now usual deathbed reports, not surprised. Henin is looming, and Sunshine will continue to dodge the top players by whatever means necessary.

Wozniacki should embark on a 'Farewell Tour' on the account of her obviously dwindling health.

Her dad makes Yuri Sharapov look like Boris Johnson.

Bookie odds for MaKiri shortens further. Now down to 3.0.

I still remember how Caroline forced herself onto the court in Tokyo last year; only to have to retire at 0-5 to Wozniak. Took Caroline a good 2-3 weeks to fully recover from the viral infection she caught back then. Not thereby saying it is something similar this time, as naturally I am not privy to any more info than anyone else.

As for the 'deathbed' and other WUM comments like 'too scared to meet Henin' blah blah blah nonsense, one can only hope illness strikes you or someone in your family too. What goes around comes around.

Reporting flu-like symptons equals a deathbed report??
And even though Caro has never played against Henin (who was defeated by the 'mighty' Dulko two weeks ago) before Caro is so afraid of her she'll fake an illness to dodge the match!??! RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT! Far more likely than catching a flu bug on the plane or something similarly simple.

I hope this is just a case of bad humor. If you truly believe so it's a very sad planet you live on.

I can only imagine it's that sleazy, base principle of having two 'hotties' on tour.

No tournament organiser is immune from using this trump card. No matter how ineffectual the actual result in terms if crowd appeal.
