I really don't know who to pick here  On 1 hand, it's not a slam, so advantage Dementieva. Also, she must be dying to get another win off of Henin. It would not surprise me if she came out and played some of her best tennis, like how she does against Serena in non-slams

On the other hand, Henin can't be happy about losing so early in IW last week to Dulko. She'll want to have a much better result here, so it wouldn't surprise me if she came out and played as well as she did at the AO

For the hell of it, I'll say Dementieva will win in 3 sets :p

I just hope there's a livestream for this.

Everything works better on the ATP

They have Ljuba Truba as the seeded number 11 in Miami instead of 23-24

Said this , Henin should have been the seeded number 30

I'm actually pretty sure justine will win this one rather easy. Not at all impressed with elena since paris, and she's not the type of player that just shows up in great shape at the start of a tournie already.

Whoever wins, win the title please.

This will probably come down to how many matches Henin wants to play here (my guess is that she'll be satisfied with a couple), and since the thought of putting anything less than full effort into any match she plays or tournament she enters probably has never even crossed Dementieva's let's say straightforward mind, this will be half-assed Henin vs Dementieva without Slam jitters.

So Dementieva wins this one. She always wins the matches that don't really matter.

Not a Lena fan - but I'm kind of a fan of you so...

I wish this had gone better for Elena even if she still had a loss.
Can only go by the stats (thanks to the lack of coverage ) but it seems as if Justine served really well tonight - much better than she has in a while, but that Lena's serve by contrast regressed in this match. Lena's second serve was also punished by Justine's return game. Lena is capable of bringing it against certain top players, but seems to falter and struggle against Justine.

Well you seem puzzled that she would struggle against Justine . Justine has a lot more variety in her game than Lena. I expected it to be closer but Lena doesn't have the same options or talent as Justine. Her accomplishments and many, many weeks @#1 in the rankings prove that. Justine was not exactly at her best in Australia in that match and still beat her. Dementieva is always a tough threat for everyone but I think her pattern of play is easy for Justine to read for the most part.

Well you seem puzzled that she would struggle against Justine

 Ugh.

Puzzled? Please. My wishing that Lena had put up a better fight (even if she was in all probability going to lose to Justine yet again) and my expressing a little fellow-feeling for one of her biggest fans is not a sign of any confusion on my part as to *why* Elena lost the match. In case you didn't get it - I'm a MiffedMax fan - not an Elena fan - or are you the one is is puzzled and confused here?

I'm wondering if your post is a joke, considering how I (like many other posters) suspected that she was going to lose going into the match but hoped nevertheless that she'd *at least* put up a good fight even if she lost. That's all I hoped for. MiffedMax also expected her to lose. So what's with the patronising attitude?

I'm aware that Elena has a losing H2H to Justine for one thing (having beaten her only twice before I think?) and that Elena's game is rather rigid, defensive and repetitive along with being poor at the net. As a result she struggles against the Justines and even the Radwanskas - and interestingly enough my own personal favourite, Venus. Yet, she's relatively successful against Serena. And that's the key thing - it's interesting how certain players don't match-up well against other players, but play well against others. My being interested in how this process plays out, doesn't mean that I'm 'puzzled' or mystified by it.

Justine serving poorly can still beat Elena, but Justine serving well will wipe her off the court. So please don't presume to know where other posters stand in relation to a player or condescend to them when you are NOT in a position to. (Justine has more variety than Lena D? *gasp* You jest! But thank goodness *you're* here to explain the obvious to the 'puzzled' masses, who'd never work that one out. Seriously - who doesn't know this by now? Even her hardcore fans are painfully aware of that, but thanks for the enlightenment.)
