Three croatians losing tight matches right now. This was the first. Put that Croatian fan on suicide watch, I forget his name atm. :(

What can I say? I am mighty relieved that Slava somehow managed to come out of that a winner first of all. I'm really not sure how she did it either. And to all those who suggested that she was lucky, well all I can say in reply is.....they are right. Anytime you let your opponent get in a situation where they are serving with match points against you, you are unquestionably lucky to survive, regardless of the circumstances. I'm sure Slava fought hard but then again I'm sure Ajla fought hard too.

In fairness Slava should never have let it get so messy. Yes, Tomljanovic looks like she has an excellent future but at this stage of her career, Slava shouldn't have lost control of this match and had Slava lost this I could hardly feel sorry for her. All that said, even when Slava isn't playing well one can always count on Slava to fight and not give up. That's important.

As for Alja, well....I hope she doesn't feel too disappointed. Rather than looking at the fact that she let a great opportunity for a big win get away from her she should really be delighted with how well she has mixed it with quality players here as well as her two matches against fellow Croats in Indian Wells and Memphis. If this girl stays fit, keeps a level head and keeps working hard she almost certainly has a very nice future and this match should only be regarded as a positive for her.
