i didnt know players had to attend player meeting. are they manditory?how often do they happen? it seems to me players like Serena and Venus Williams & Maria Sharapova wouldnt attend and skip the meetings. also do you know the players who are on the players council?

Yes, some are mandatory. I don't think these big meetings happen often..only a couple of times a year, I know they have a big meeting around USOpen time when they tell the players about changes for the following season/schedule etc..
