Venus is behind Serena at Wimbledon and then you put her 8th at the USO when all the years she has played the USO she has only lost to 5 players ever, apparently she isn't a threat then. Interesting. I'll do my list soon.

9) Venus Williams

This is a little crazy for Venus Williams. She is clearly top 5, if not top 3, at the USO. It just gets a little tricky because Kim, Justine and Venus all have 2 USO titles so it's difficult to weigh it out. Right now, I'd probably put Venus behind the Belgians because she hasn't reached the final since 2002. The Belgians have both beaten her in their last meetings. Having dementieva and azarenka ranked above her is just a wacko.

And there is no way Na Li, Azarenka and Safina are ranked ahead of her in Australia. Only Na Li got further than her there this year. And that's Na Li's most accomplished slam performance. It's hardly indicative of how she would fare in the future.

I think a more accurate placement of her would be

USO
Serena
Justine
Kim
Venus
Maria

AO
Serena
Justine
Maria
Kim
Venus

Guys, thats just my list, you have to post your own :p

And the reason Maria is so high on mine for FO, is because she is the only player who has consistently made the second week of FO every year since 2004.

BuTtErFrEnA
Mar 19th, 2010, 09:46 PM

2010 Roland Garros 1) Serena Williams
2) Caroline Wozniacki
3) Agneizska Radwanska
4) Justine Henin - If Henin goes back to her old style, she's #1
5) Dinara Safina - If she shows well at Madrid, she's #3
6) Svetlana Kuznetsova - If she shows anything, anywhere, she's #2
7) Venus Williams - She's a 'good' clay court player. And this just says QFs
8) Victoria Azarenka
9) Jelena Jankovic
10) Elena Dementieva
2010 Wimbledon1) Venus Williams
2) Serena Williams
3) Justine Henin - She's putting max effort to this

4) Victoria Azarenka
5) Dinara Safina
6) Kim Clijsters
7) Marion Bartoli - Do I believe that? No. Does the resume say that? Yes.

Former Champions and Finalist should ALWAYS be ahead of the other wannabes sorry.... and Maria would make any of my list because the only thing shes proved in the last few years and she (and ivanovic) cant find their games so no they cant and shouldnt be considered a threat again until they are routinely beating top players again.

But Venus/ Serena/ Henin/ Kim/ Kuznetsova should top all these list IMO they can all play on all the surfaces (maybe not kuz at Wimbledon) and can win a match. They've proved it, They should be ahead of all the others IMO on all the surfaces....

you have some horrendous omissions.

Roland Garros
Really, Maria Sharapova in RG but no Kim Clijsters?? x__x
You also have Jelena Jankovic listed 2x.
You should probably also include Venus who actually got to a final (although it was a long time ago); she also has one of the better clay court records of top players.

Wimbledon
Really, you have injured Dinara Safina who has never been to a final but u don't have Justine Henin on at all?

USO & AO
Really, what makes Azarenka an apparently better choice than 2-time GS champion Svetlana Kuznetsova to leave her off. Neither of them are playing that well right now.

And yes, let's place 2-time USO champ Venus who has been consistently performing well there the past few years and who isn't currently injured and who recently won Dubai below Maria, Elena, Jelena, and Victoria

OKAY

I agree with yourself, and all hate aside (I dont really hate Wozniaki) but shes only made it past the 3th round of a slam once...... She should not be a top contender for all of them.... but I do think her best bet will be Roland Garros, since most of the top players cant seem to play on it....

For me at the moment Sharapova, Azarenka, Radwanska, Safina are big question marks. They can always surprise of course.

Rather than write my own list - I'll go for this list exactly. And I agree with your last sentence as well. Note: Top of your lists are what happened in 2005.

3. Svetlana Kuznetsova (Champion)
4. Dinara Safina (RUP 2009)
5. Kim Clijsters (RUP 2002)
Dark Horse: Petrova

First Roland Garlos does not exist.
Second, the 2002 runner-up was the player in your avatar, Clijsters is a two times RG finalist, in 2001 and 2003.
And i'm pretty sure Safina is a two times finalist too, 2008 and 2009.

 yeah. too lazy to look up RG--tells you what I think about the red clay. :p

anyway, I love Venus, but I just don't see her taking RG and Clijsters hates the red clay and Safina seems completely unable to win more than five games in a grand slam final. I only chose five contenders per slam and they didn't make the cut. I didn't even add Ana, who is another fav, 'cause. . .well. . .:help:
