This is very early, but you guys need to keep the faith!!

She has masses of point to gain in Miami and Indian wells which can easily make up for points lost in Monterrey.

Draw:

1st round bye
2nd round: Olaru or Hercog
3rd round: Lisicki
4th round: Radwanska or Henin

LET'S GO MARION!!! :cheer::hearts::cheer:

oh Mar...PLEASE do not repeat the travesty against Peer of last year...
that was incredibly depressing!
i know you can do it, but you need to make sure you FIGHT for everything!!! no 3rd set bagels if you have to lose!!
just remember your amazing comeback against arch-rival/nemesis/bitch VeraZ in Beijing last year.

Marion was the 1st player to arrive in Indian Wells. No doubt she really wants go far in the draw. No doubt about it.

Of course, she was. Other girls were busy playing tournaments! :o

BTW every tennis player wants to go deep in a draw. Some of them manage to, some other don't.
Doesn't make me feel any more confident to hear that she's motivated.

It's now or never for Marion to finally start 2010. Im very concerned at her ability to win a match in 3 sets. I hope to see an improvement on her fighting spirit otherwise I think I'll quit following her.

Allez!

Allez!Do you have any theories as to WHY she has looked so uninspired in those 3rd sets?I'd like to hear the opinions of a long-time fan...go ahead and speculate if you're not sure because Marion's 3rd-set bagels are puzzling to me;it's not as if one of the WS was serving her off the court with flawless play in those matches

She got Olaru, Hercog in R2, Lisicki in R3. Radwanska or Henin in R4. We can say goodbye to getting a big number of points here anyway.

Yep :wavey: She got what she deserved! Good luck still, we can hope for a miracle!
As regards Marion's mysterious record in 3 sets this year, I told you, I dont know if it's due to an absolute lack of fighting spirit or a poor physical condition... Since she has only played 2 tournaments so far, it's hard to make an opinion about it ^^'

Watched Hercog play a competitive final vs. Venus Williams in Acapulco,so this WAS a nice win for Marion despite losing 2 service games;however,I'll be SERIOUSLY pissed if she blows this next match vs. Craybas. She's 5-1 vs. Jill for a reason...b/c she's a better player...let's do this,Marion

Well done Marion, this is a good win. :)
Her draw has miraculously opened up very nicely too. Craybas will be her next opponent, it should really be a piece of cake.
I still hope for the best for this tournament, I can't help it! Allez Marion for God's sake!

Any Marionettes are welcome to enlighten/remind me:These 2-week tourneys are just like the Slams in that they don't update the rankings on the middle Monday, right?

Btw,I'm STILL looking for that match with Zvonareva from last year:(....Maybe someone has a clue where to find it???It was a much more riveting match than the one with Craybas will be,I suppose:p

She hasn't won a set in their last 3 meetings, with their last match being really frustrating to follow.

Radwanska was putting in second serves under 70mph today. Marion needs to serve well, because Radwanska is far from unbreakable.

Bravo Baba. Expected but glad she didn't waste time and energy on that.
Now Aga . She has all the shots possible to beat Aga. Hope she finally executes her game plan of being aggressive on returns and taking the balls early. The last time she made so many errors, it was pathetic. :x

It's high time to secure some decent win again. Allez!

It's high time to secure some decent win again. Allez!Agreed:(.Marion isn't some borderline Top 50 player,so she should stop acting like one.Aga is a good opponent but NOT so overwhelming that Marion should lose by non-competitive scores. It's time to kick some derriere....FIRMLY!!!

3rd set available. i dl it.It's like I told my Scottish gf Alice over at the blog:It's just not the same without the 1st set which makes Marion's comeback that much more meaningful. It's as if Beethoven were raised from the dead for one special, command performance...and you only managed to arrive halfway through...it's not the same

The scoreline is cruel

Positive from this match:
.She showed some fighting spirit
.Second serve return was pretty good
. She showed, at times, some decent finesse

Negatives
. Fitness is still an issue
. She wasn't placing her first serve anywhere, hence the lack of free points.
. Too many crucial mistakes. The game at 3-4 in the first set and the missed return on breakpoint at 2-1 in the second were both very frustrating
.Really questionable shot selection, such as hitting the ball straight back to Radwanska when she had the open court to hit into- 3-4 bp to Radwanska as an example.
. Lack of fighting spirit in the last few games.
. Some of the line calls screwed her but that's not her fault.

Overall she's gained a decent amount of points. She was 0-5 against Peer and Douchevina before she got her first win over them, so here's hoping she can get that first win eventually, but she's probably going to need a lights out serving day.

On to Miami where she has points to gain but also an appaling record there. Good luck.
