Not the best way to finish the match. But it's better than a loss :D Great to see either Pavly or Danii in QF ;) I really think Pavly could score the win.

As for Elena, she really shouldn't play Paris, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur... Last year it took her some time to get some decent results again after an impressive start to the year.

Elena seldom retires from a match, so this outcome sums up her present physical condition. She knew that she had to win this in 3 which would be her 4th coming-from-behind three-setter in a row.

You are dumb, of course you would say that.

Elena sent routine forehands out , had no timing at her serve return , not running a lot easy balls , slow reactions. That is for me a diminished Dementieva

Feb 16th, 2010, 06:31 PM
Fun to see people who think that it was a great win for Daniela. Elena played her worst match in months due to injury, and was not able to serve well and her movement was terrible. But Elena still made this match competitive and even had a break lead. If she could play normal, she would beat this Hantuchova without doubt, because with this Elena, Daniela still struggled in some games.

Someone else spotted too, almost from the first point in was obvious Elena was very very tired. She had 3 tough 3 set matches in about 3 or 4 days, a 6 hour flight or so, change from icy Paris to sweltering Dubai. It's just crazy for players who reach the latter stages in Paris to expect to do well here.
Elena's game is based around her movement and strength and she had a go, but Hantuchova played a smart set and would not roll over. There was no way Elena wanted to go three sets, and after her very good serving of the past few weeks, I am sure she did get a bit of a twinge, but her weariness was very obvious.

I think getting eliminated early is okay. Even though Daniela is her bitch, she was too tired. I'm not sure pulling out of KL would be smart though. Lena needs to be in a groove. Too much time off and she'll have to play herself into form all over again like she did in Paris--unless it's a serious shoulder injury, in which case we may have to kiss IW good-bye as well.

Hopefully a week to rest will be all she needs and she can have a nice run next week. I'm not worried about another title for now.

Besides, there are a lot of people I'd hate losing to more than Dani. Like for example that girl Big Al Glatch is going to mop up the floor in Memphis with tonight. ;)

Anyway I think when you win Paris you should withdraw from Dubai. Playing in Dubai is the opposite of an indoor tourney. Bad for your body. I know that she Russian but she should know better by now.

Well then, I guess if Mel was to lose, it would be becasue she also was exhausted after making the paris semi's and then, having to come all the way back to the states.
