Now you might kill me, but to me there still isn't any game that feels close to Super Tennis on the SNES. The graphics were pretty good for 1991 and you had a big variety of shot selections. The way points were played there felt the most realistic to me out of any tennis games 'cuz you could hit errors and still have a good amount of winners. Also, your opponents played quite differently, some rushing the net and others staying behind.

Modern times: Top Spin 2. I re-sold Virtua Tennis 3 after like 2 days.

Best tennis manager game: Tennis Elbow Manager 2009. Superb game and I'm addicted to it, playing it regularly like all 4 weeks or so.

I wouldn't buy any of the Virtua Tennis series, not for full price anyway. The background music & sound effects are like something from a 1980s arcade game.

That said, gameplay itself isn't so bad and I still got great satisfaction from being Andy Murray in a sponsorship match on the career mode

i find that all those games get SOO easy after a while playing it and then its just no fun. That's why my favourite tennis game it Tennis Elbow! The graphics are not the feature (every player looks the same just with different hair colour etc!), but there are difficulty level from "impossible to not win" to "practically impossible TO win!". Plus, on most games, it is very hard to hit the ball out (not so much with the accuracy), but with Tennis Elbow, it is all about you and your timing when aiming. Also, you can create your own tour and it has EVERY player from the last 20 years (also a tip: delete your favourite player from the Program Files folder and you can play AS them!!) Plus, as Crazillo said ^^, get Tennis Elbow Manager tooo as it is so addictive and actually really fun to play!!

To me it would be:

Super Tennis - Super Nintendo (amazing sound effects as well)

Smash Court Pro Tournament 2 - Playsation 2 (but you coudn't hit that many UE)

Top Spin 3 - 360 & PS3 (still learning to be good with the triggers!)

An online mode for THAT game would be cracking!

Human vs. CPU: Top Spin 3 (360 & PS3), or Grand Slam Tennis (Wii)
Human vs. Human: Smash Court Tennis 2 (PS2)

Stay away from any Virtua Tennis games because they are extremely arcadey which quite frankly should not appeal to anybody who finds themselves frequently on a tennis message board. It isn't realistic whatsoever, whereas the three games mentioned above strive for realism. EA should be bringing its GRand Slam Tennis game to the 360/PS3 once their motion controllers make their debut sometime at the end of this year, so if I were you I would purchase Top Spin 3 to tie yourself over. Career mode is pretty deep, the game offers ample challenge and the CPU on hard/very hard can actually give you a run for your money, especially if you play against the likes of Seles, Federer, Nadal and other big names with high stats. Plus they have real sponsors for clothing, rackets and such. Virtua Tennis is all manufactured fake crap.

But don't you just love the amazingly cheap & nasty Sega Pro Tour t-shirts :hearts:
