I'm not all that sure. I know Li does :) and some of the ball bashers like Azarenka and Sharapova. And I think Jankovic does too. And oh...Rezai hit her bh so hard against Serena in Sydney, I lost track of the ball

Serena - :worship: needs no introduction.
Justine - The best one hander of her generation, she can hit outright winners and go for angles off it, or mask a dropshot.
Safina and Sharapova - hit a very steady deep shot off their backhand to set up winners.
Jelena - can do just about anything with it, and her DTL is superb.

Honestly, Venus' BH is no longer what it was. Neither is Jelena's as she barely attacks with it anymore.

it was only one match point. Go watch venus-Lucid Safarova RG 09 to watch Venus save a match point with a backhand winner if that's what gets you off.

I wonder what Venus does well? She sounds like a terrible player. Wonder how she wins matches

It is clear to everyone that Vee's backhand is not the GOAT shot it once was.

it may have only been 1 backhand down championship, but the match itself whenever VEnus looked down and out the backhand was clutch. When davenport served for it in the second set Venus hit 3 backhand winners.... the backhand she hit to get to match point...Anyways point is Venus doesnt play like this anymore. Shes not aggressive enough.... shes content to work the point to try to get to net...which i think is great and all, but its affected her aggressive style on the baseline. Both she and Serena became passive... Serena isnt passive anymore...and what do you know shes won 4 of the last 6 slams after winning 2 of 6 being passive...

Serena, Venus and Maria have the best two-handers. Justine has the best one-hander, although Suarez-Navarro's backhand is a pretty one. Here's the funny thing to me. Everyone talks about how great Venus's backhand is, but remember when ESPN did the "Signature Shot" series in 2008? Serena's backhand was the one they profiled, not Venus's. So which Williams sister has the better backhand?

well, ESPN doesnt know much though do they... I remember the announcers discussed that and how they thought it was ridiculous because CLEARLY Serena's signiture shot is her Serve.... Serena's ground game isnt the best... her return of serve is great though, but long ralleys shes not gonna be at the top of the list... quick points goes to serena.... but is that because she has the "Best shot" or because she has the most power?

Serena certainly in the discussion..her last couple of wins at the majors the last times, have been all keyed by her backhand ( apart from the serve).

Get over it. Venus WAS a terrific player. The best. But she is not now. Her biggest assets now IMO, are her movement and her skills at the net. And yes, by her standards, she is currently a terrible player. Her strokes are no longer the reliable weapons they once were.

Venus isnt a "terrible" player...shes Mentally fragile, which is so unfortunate.... She had gotten her stuff together until Serena took her Wimbledon title form her... at that point she was holding 5 titles.... just won the YEC...things were looking up.... :sobbing:

Even though I can't stand her, I've gotta say Jelena has got a great backhand. Venus' backhand used to be great but its erratic nowadays. Serena's and Sharapova's backhands are both extremely deadly when on. Juju's one has so much variety and punch in it. Safina, Zvonareva, Azarenka have good backhands too but not as great as those I mentioned earlier. Dementieva's is consistent, not great.

Serena and Jankovic BH so overrated. Remember Serena´s 'great' BH back in 2007, what a shot!

Sharapova has a great BH, Safina, Rezai solid.

Henin´s can be easily overpowered and her BH return is practically not a shot.

And Kim beat Venus too ( and Serena does most of the time these days), no? So where does that leave Venus?

I think no one mentioned Wozniacki!..I love it how she uses her left hand when she hits the BH, puts forward and lifts elbow high, she puts a lot of topspin on her BH, she hits like no errors from that side.

Sharapova and Wozniacki for me.

And Kim and Venus bring the worst tennis out of each other...thats no secret.... the less they play the better for the tour....as Venus said after she lost in 2005 "I dont know I was playing so well, and then she just brought me down to her level...I dont know what happened" Venus did it to Kim in 2009 when she said "Yeah it was a strange match"

I actually don't know who to choose. Conventional wisdom says Henin, but at the moment her backhand really isn't as consistent as it used to be. She hits great winners but also some horrible errors off that side. Maria's bh isn't bad but again, it's not as reliable as it once was. In '07 and '08 JJ's bh was accurate and her dtl was a real weapon but I'm not sure what's going on with it now. Venus ditto. Once she had the best bh on the WTA, bar none - but that was a while ago... Still, she was hitting it really well around this time last year, but then it started to unravel. Wimbledon will tell all. Serena's backhand is solid and of the top players is one of the most consistent at present.

Sharapova and Wozniacki for me.

:spit: It's not a bad backhand, but 'making no errors' can simply be attributed to her *cough* gameplan or lack thereof.

is your last name slutati?

I mean who asked you for your wisdom? And when did i ever claim Venus is the best player? I was merely pointing out how people IRRATIONALLY act like Venus is some b-list journey woman like Pennetta or something.

So child, please, learn to read or just STFU. Irrational? You would be talking about YOURSELF here. So STFU and take your own advice by learning how to read, because almost everyone has been crediting Venus for what she has done and merely stating that she's not as deadly as she once was. Grow up.

As for the wisdom bit, this is a forum. I don't see anybody asking for your wisdom either.

Dire? where in my post did I say her ground game was horrible? I said its not the best...and it isnt.... Bringing up those tournaments mean nothing... AO Serena's ground game was horrible....she netted so many easy shots..... If she didnt have the serve she has she would not have won them....however she could and has shown she can win without the ground game..... When i say shes not the best it doesnt mean i think shes outside the top 10...........

Why is it when someone says a particular shot of Serena's isnt "the best" the reetards assume the person is saying Serena is the worst in that department...... Dont be so sensitive...
