I remember watching her [Martic] against Wozniacki at the USO. Back then I just couldn't help wondering how in hell she even made it to a grand slam main draw cos her play was truly atrocious. Perhaps now I've got the answer: she desperately needs pace generated by her opponents cos the odd groundstoke technique doesn't allow her to hit hard by herself.

Of course today Martic was nowhere near as horrible as she was against Wozniacki but the problem was pretty much the same, IMO. Her tennis is way too "reactive".
It's such a shame Petra can't create pace on her shots cos she's really nice to watch.

good to see szavay rather getting it together again. hopefully she can build on this.

Szavay did a very nice job in the 2nd set after losing her 3-1 lead in set 3. Martic had a good lead in one of the later games in set 3, but choked. That cost Martic.

Just my luck - yesterday Martić played a match for which she was proclaimed a new GOAT, but I didn't see it. Today, I saw her match and she played like Ana at the Fed Cup. :help:
But at least Agi was solid and managed not to choke. :yeah: I miss the 2007 Agi. :awww: (although one thing hasn't changed - she's still beating JJ :sobbing:)

Why do my nonVenus faves - Lucie, Agi - play so well at Paris Indoors? I want them to have these kinds of results more often. I guess something about the indoor courts suits them.
