WTA Forums Abbreviations thread

I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread dedicated to all the "in jokes' and abbreviations that are used on this forum. Sort of like a dictionary.

I remembered when I first joined I didn't know if Lena D was Dementieva or Daniilidou, I had no idea who Momo or Juju were and I did not understand any jokes about Brie.

It may help new members to understand and it also could be a bit of fun, its like we have our own language here.

Just add whichever ones you use most, or any that you have seen but can't figures out and someone else could explain it.

I'll start us off with a small, pretty obvious one.

Masha = Maria Sharapova
Makiri = Maria Kirilenko

Masha's not an abbreviation. Masha is the Russian diminutive of Maria. But Makiri IS a contraction of Maria Kirilenko.

We do that just to confuse people.

A few Lena fans and I call Masha TOB for "That Other Blonde" even though most of us actually like Masha, too.

There are so man I use unconciously I can't even think of them.

klina = karolina sprem :)

Sveta is the diminutive of Svetlana as well. So as Kolya(Nikolay)

Golden Flowers = Chinese players :hearts: :lol:

Nope; it was more or less a dictionary of jokes related to the forum, certain members, and players...more than just nicknames of players.
