Feb 5th, 2011, 01:14 PM
Lost to Martinez 2-6 0-6

Not too bad ;)

Feb 5th, 2011, 03:11 PM
Seems to have potential. :) Will be interested to see how she goes the rest of the year.

Feb 6th, 2011, 01:35 PM
She's playing against to Carla now. I have to say, that she isn't as bad. For real, she's good (how for 15yo girl). There are a lot of stupids errors, of course, but she has really strong hits. Obvious she don't know how she have to play during match against to top50 player. I think that she'll be might good player in future ;)

Feb 6th, 2011, 02:01 PM
Well, she had not played against anyone remotely as good before. Only once against (recovering from a elbow injury) Kanepi in December, when she couldn't hit a backhand.

Feb 6th, 2011, 02:01 PM
Four games against Carla.

Feb 6th, 2011, 02:11 PM
Well, she put up a good fight, and had some good points:hug: But of course top 100 players are a completely different level.

Feb 6th, 2011, 02:14 PM
Anyone knows where she is playing next?

Feb 6th, 2011, 04:21 PM
Grade 2 tournament in Lithuania (2 weeks time), I guess.

After Wimbledon she will probably play couple of pro tournaments in Scandinavia or somewhere else

Jun 2nd, 2011, 03:24 PM

Thank god. 2nd set was a break fest, Anett had at least one MP on Katsitadze's serve at 5-5. 3rd set she was leading 5*-1, 5*-3. Reminds me of another infamous choke last year. But thankfully she was able to break:)

Anett has entered $10,000 Tampere for 25-31 of July

She should beat Kiick as she is mainly a clay court player
Anett has had better results on hard courts then she'll beat Vickery
I think she'll have problems with Garcia

Sep 4th, 2011, 01:29 PM
It's a very tough section she landed in that USO draw:o

Sep 4th, 2011, 06:57 PM
Anett Kontaveit(EST)[13] def. Alexandra Kiick(USA) 6-1 1-6 6-2

Sep 4th, 2011, 06:58 PM
very WTA-esque scoreline:lol:
well done:yeah:

next up Vickey or Mekovec

Sep 4th, 2011, 09:50 PM
Anett is also playing doubles,
Victoria Duval USA (4)
Anett Kontaveit EST (4)
Gabrielle Andrews USA
Taylor Townsend USA

Sep 6th, 2011, 01:32 PM
There have been so many upsets so far, she might be able to beat Garcia.
Hopefully she teams up well with Vicky as they have really tough opponents. Old girls.
They should have trouble with Townsend.
If she gets past Garcia, Keys is the only main roadblock between her and the championship.
By the way, does anyone know where you can watch streams of the juniors cause I can only find senior's streams.

Sep 6th, 2011, 02:34 PM
One match at the time;) She has to beat Vickery first before we can look further. And the Americans seem to be in good form for their home Slam, so it'll be tough.

I think the chances they stream those matches are rather slim (as discussed in the USO Junior's thread (http://www.tennisforum.com/showthread.php?t=441405&page=5) as well):shrug:

Sep 8th, 2011, 06:28 PM
Lost to Vickery 2-6 1-6.

Sep 8th, 2011, 06:28 PM
Such a beatdown:sad::hug:

Sep 13th, 2011, 10:35 AM
The Americans make the young girls play seniors then give them wildcards when they are all top 400
They are also all very old like Nicole Gibbs

Sep 23rd, 2011, 11:32 AM
Anett entered Osaka GA but then pulled out? Must have had enough of the travelling.

Oct 4th, 2011, 03:56 PM
So is she playing Helsinki or US swing (Eddie Herr, Orange Bowl and Yucatan) cause I think they overlap.

Oct 4th, 2011, 04:11 PM
Good question. I assume she'll play Helsinki though, otherwise there was no point getting the WC for Anett:shrug:

Oct 5th, 2011, 07:40 AM
Yeah, unless they want to give it to Margit?
Or they may want to give it to Eva or Tatjana but I don't kniw why cause Tatjana has only won one match and that was at 10K in Tallinn and Eva has never won.
She'll probably give up on juniors. Play the two stockholms and then play helsinki and probably play Traralgon and Aussie open.

Also why is GA in Osaka so bad. Top seed is Ellen Allgurin 27 in the world and the last direct acceptance is 400 in the world or something.

15 on qualifying list for Stockholm 1
She will probably play Stockholm 2 and then Helsinki :)
Geez, she really likes the futures

Oct 7th, 2011, 07:06 PM
I saw she had Stockholm as 2nd priority. Her 1st priority's 75k Barnstaple:eek: But she's well out of the Q (ALT #125).

Oct 8th, 2011, 01:49 AM
Oh... Thanks for realising :)
She is still 15 on qualies and Margit is still 8 out from qualies. They'll probably play doubles together :)
They played together in Tallinn 1 and I think they made semis.
She might make Barnstaple qualies cause I once saw a player ranked between 600 and 700 make qualies at 100,000+H Cagnes sur Mer. Her name was Albina Khabibulina from Uzbekistan
She is also still 125 on barnstaple list
Why would she want to play Barnstaple though
She isn't playing any juniors in England, its further away (i know that you can get cheap flights) and there are no other Estonians. I think maybe she should try a 50 or 50+H but if she wants to try a 75+H she should try it in a less competitive tournament like Jounieh in Lebanon

Oct 10th, 2011, 03:01 PM
She will play Glasgow 25k qualifying next week.

Oct 11th, 2011, 10:05 AM
Yeah...She must intend on doing British swing so she can get full 10 tournaments instead of 9 (Stockholm X2 + Helsinki compared to Glasgow, Barnstaple and Sunderland 10K)
Unlucky that there is such a strong field :(

Oct 14th, 2011, 02:17 PM
Qualies draw should come out tomorrow
Tough Draw, especially main draw
Compare this entry list to entry list to 10k in algeria this week

Oct 16th, 2011, 09:45 PM
$25.000 Glasgow (GBR)
(1)Isabella Shinikova (BUL) v (wc)Alice Keddie (GBR)
(13)Anett Kontaveit (EST) v Francesca Lewis (GBR)

1st seed in her section :( But hopefully she still qualifies :cheer:

Oct 17th, 2011, 09:34 AM
Why isn't she playing Stockholm 2?
I know she can only play 10 tournaments but even if she played she would still have room for helsinki.
Either she wants to play a different tournament in the states with her junior tournaments or she weirdly only wants to play 9 tournaments.

Oct 17th, 2011, 09:43 PM
Anett won 6-2 6-0 :yeah:
Next up (1)Isabella Shinikova (BUL)

Oct 17th, 2011, 09:50 PM
That's a very good convincing win. One more win, and she'll be in her second challenger :)
I think she can make quarterfinals with a good draw

Oct 18th, 2011, 03:56 PM
(13)Anett Kontaveit (EST) d. (1)Isabella Shinikova (BUL) 6-3 6-4 :yeah:
Hopefully she gets a good draw and some wins in MD :)

Oct 18th, 2011, 05:35 PM
(13)Anett Kontaveit (EST) d. (1)Isabella Shinikova (BUL) 6-3 6-4 (kontaveit was the better player throughout. prone to some stupid errors which cost her a few games, but for someone so young, she looked quite good. her return of serve was a big weapon and shinikova was 2nd best throughout)

Singles Main Draw

(8)Stephanie Vogt (LIE) v (Q)Anett Kontaveit (EST)
Justyna Jegiolka (POL) v (wc)Emma Devine (GBR)
Tetyana Arefyeva (UKR) v Julie Coin (FRA)
(4)Claire Feuerstein (FRA) v Johanna Konta (AUS)

Tough draw, against a seed. Vogt is ranked 211. But everything can happen:)

Oct 18th, 2011, 09:43 PM
Tough draw, Vogt has been in good form lately :(
But I believe that Anett might win this if she plays well :D

Oct 19th, 2011, 02:13 AM
Shinikova is biggest win of career in seniors. With the report that WhoAmI? quoted, it proves that Anett is playing much higher than her ranking on a consistent basis. I think if she cuts out the errors she can beat Vogt. Vogt is in the best form of her life but Anett has the advantage of already playing 2 matches and having some recent indoor experience. Vogt has lost her last two tournaments either first round or in qualifying. I watched a video of her playing at the Makarska Ladies Open (50K) in 2008 against Anastasia Pivovarova and she seems to be quite an agressive player. She likes clay, runs around her forehand a lot but doesn't have a great backhand (just slices it a lot). Her movements is worse than anett's from what i saw in Fed Cup against Spain and in Fed Cup against Belarus. If she wins, she will be full of confidence going into Stockholm.

She should win her second round because the stats say that Anett has never lost to a player ranked lower than her in pro tennis and Jegiolka is just higher than her and in Anett's recent GOAT range :)

Oct 19th, 2011, 02:47 PM
R1: (8)Stephanie Vogt (LIE) def (Q)Anett Kontaveit (EST) 64 75
But a good fight

Oct 19th, 2011, 08:27 PM
Comments on the match:

(8)Stephanie Vogt (LIE) v (Q)Anett Kontaveit (EST)

imo kontaveit is going to be a player. she has all the tools and is only 15. her return of serve was a real weapon again, firing several winners off it, and she produced great comebacks in each set when down 1-5 and then 1-4. she actually served for the 2nd set but then went to pieces. vogt played a good game overall and did well not to crumble following the comebacks. she was especially impressive at the start of the match.

But she'll be in MD of 10k Stockholm next week. :)

Oct 19th, 2011, 09:04 PM
I think she has a very good chance to win her 3rd title there :D

Oct 19th, 2011, 09:51 PM
Hopefully this has been a good learning experience for her. She has improved so quickly. Just over a year ago she was nowhere to be seen in juniors and she had just qualified for her first 10k event in Savitaipale where she lost 6-2 7-5 to Syna Kayser.
Now she is nearly ranked higher than Kayser and is beating top 400 players on quite a consistent basis.
Watch out for her.
I think if she keeps on improving she will be a top 10 star by the time she's 19 :)

Oct 21st, 2011, 12:17 PM
Vogt has comfortably made quarters, which a statement as to how good kontaveit is

Oct 26th, 2011, 10:54 AM

Anett won 6-4 7-6(5) :)
But it was way closer than I expected..

Oct 26th, 2011, 02:11 PM
Very tight match, 2h 29min:eek: and 2 sets.

Stats for it are here: http://www.tennis-ticker.com/cms/iwebs/default.aspx?mmid=9267&smid=32291&tournid=350

Anett beat Kimmelmann 7-5 6-1 :bounce:
Anett was leading 5-2* in the first set and had some SPs :o

Oct 28th, 2011, 11:28 AM
Kontaveit lost first 6-3 but just won second 6-4 against Marion Gaud :)

Oct 28th, 2011, 12:13 PM
Anett won 3-6 6-4 6-3 :yeah: :cheer:

Oct 29th, 2011, 12:07 PM
Anett defeated de Bernardi 6-1 6-4 in semifinal between juniors.

Oct 29th, 2011, 12:46 PM
Complete Domination :rocker2:
Now its time to beat Syna, win her 3rd title and get revenge for savitaipale last year :yeah:
Also, Anett has been improving rapidly so if she keeps it up she might be top 200-300 next year if she plays her tournaments right
She will win a Grandslam Juniors next year, i'm sure :)

Should be 25k in Helsinki in the end of November. I'm not sure about the rest.

Oct 30th, 2011, 08:44 PM
She will play in Helsinki and then she will go to US. I presume to play Eddie Herr/Orange Bowl.

Oct 30th, 2011, 09:30 PM
She isn't playing Yucatan, she is playing Orange Bowl, I think she'll play Eddie Herr and I assume she'll play GA in Mexico
But what about her 10th tournament?
She would have to play all 10
It's such a disadvantage to only be allowed to play 10 tournaments she has to play them all
She should be allowed 16 and then she would be top 300

Oct 31st, 2011, 04:15 PM

Nov 1st, 2011, 10:57 AM
Next year she'll be allowed to play 12 professional events. I think Top 250-300 is a realistic goal for 2012.

If she does well in juniors and gets some junior exempts, I think that she may be able to win a 25. I think she may be able to get 200 ranking points if she plays her tournaments well and if that happenned she would currently be ranked 272 in the world. An achievable goal. If only she could play more tournaments. Maybe she could slip in a wta qualifying somewhere. I think a junior grand slam is on the way if she can produce the results she has had in the seniors. Also, how do you get a merited increase?

Nov 6th, 2011, 07:44 AM
It's so stupid that she can only play 12 tournaments

Maria Sharapova's coach Thomas Högstedt went to Tallinn for a few days, and met also with Anett to advice her a bit:eek:

Nov 22nd, 2011, 01:10 PM
Tough luck:( She'll get her next time.

She's entered to Eddie Herr (next week), and Orange Bowl (in 2 weeks). So there's some time to travel and adapt.

Nov 23rd, 2011, 06:03 AM
Her last 2 25ks she's played against inform players (Sadikovic just won a 50k after coming through qualies and Vogt was very close to her career high) and has held her own, having chances to win. She is clearly a very mature player and has a great chance of making top 10 or going even higher :)

Great, Anett!!! Looks like the opponent totally gave up after the tough first set
Interesting to see how she does against Indy now. They haven't yet played with each other I think.

Guaranteed to go up to 12 in the rankings :) If she makes final she will go up to 11 :yeah:. If she wins the tournament she will go up to 9 :cheer:. These could change depending on Yulia Putintseva's results.
Anett is finally starting to show the form in juniors that she showed on the itf pro circuit :D
I think the tournament being on clay helps her cause :)

Dec 10th, 2011, 08:21 AM
Well done Anett . Good luck against Bouchard, should be interesting.

Dec 10th, 2011, 12:59 PM

Really climbing towards top 10 now. The last two weeks have been very good for her. Defeating Bouchard however will be a tough task. Good luck!

They had a 3 setter last week, Anett definitely has chances. Hopefully she won't be too nervous.

Dec 10th, 2011, 11:52 PM
I don't see why she can't win. She definately has the game to do so and clay is her favoured surface. It would be a great confidence boost before the Australian Open as it is the best Grade A event in terms of talent that is not a Grand Slam :)

Dec 11th, 2011, 08:41 PM
(5)Anett Kontaveit (EST) d. (2)Yulia Putintseva (RUS) 62 62

Dec 11th, 2011, 08:47 PM
What a sweet-sweet revenge!
Anett beat seeds 1 (through ret., but still), 2 and 3. Such a great way to finish the year:yeah:

About Bouchard's match:
After a very topsy-turvy match, Kontaveit advanced on Saturday when top seed Eugenie Bouchard of Canada retired due to a stomach injury in the third set with Kontaveit leading 0-6, 6-4, 4-2. Bouchard tried valiantly to end the match in the second set, despite losing the first five games. She won four straight to work her way back into the set, but Kontaveit was able to convert on her first set point and force a third.

"I couldn’t find my game at all in the first set, but really started playing better in the second set," Kontaveit said. "I couldn’t tell she was hurt and was really shocked when she retired at the end there."

Asked about her ensuing rematch with Putintseva, Kontaveit replied, "I lost a tough match to her last week, so I’m really excited about getting the chance for revenge."

Dec 11th, 2011, 09:12 PM
Winner takes all the oranges:

Dec 11th, 2011, 09:14 PM
:bigclap: Cant wait for the next season :bounce:

Dec 11th, 2011, 09:43 PM
Wow Anett, that is amazing! Nice revenge indeed. And the scoreline  I was expecting a long 3 set match.
Shoots into top10 now in the ranking.

Dec 12th, 2011, 12:24 AM

After reaching the final on Saturday, the fifth-seeded Kontaveit spoke openly about wanting to garner some revenge on No. 2 seed Yulia Putintseva, to whom Kontaveit lost 6-2, 1-6, 6-4, in the quarterfinals of last week’s Eddie Herr, a tournament which Putintseva ultimately won. She did exactly that on Sunday, coming out firing on all cylinders and banging out numerous winners from her forehand side, which clearly frustrated the fiery and vocal Putintseva.

But the rains came at 1-all in the second set, leading to a 90-minute delay, which gave Putintseva time for rest and rejuvenation while stunting Kontaveit’s momentum. Upon returning to the court, Kontaveit double faulted twice and got broken to go down 1-2. From there, however, Kontaveit regained her form, immediately broke back, and then ripped off four straight games to take the match and the title 6-2, 6-2. With the win, Kontaveit becomes the first Estonian to win an Orange Bowl title.

"I was much more aggressive and played really well today," she said. "I really did attack every ball, and I think that’s what brought me success today. It’s so exciting to win this title, both for myself and for Estonia!"

Dec 12th, 2011, 12:29 AM

Kontaveit, seeded fifth, had lost to No. 2 seed Putintseva 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 just ten days ago, but her big hitting was too much for the feisty Russian on Sunday.

"I was more aggressive, playing really well also, and I really did attack every ball," said Kontaveit, who turns 16 on Christmas Eve.

Putintseva got off a to a very slow start, trailing 5-1 in the first set, but often the 16-year-old Russian is more comfortable playing from behind, and can raise her game when she needs to.

Kontaveit was hitting with more power however, and Putintseva, unusually subdued throughout the first set, couldn't find a pattern to disrupt Kontaveit's rhythm. Kontaveit was closing the net when she sensed Putintseva was in a defensive position, and her volleys were confident and effective, although Putintseva did earn one opening early in the second set.

After a long bathroom break, Putintseva broke Kontaveit in the first game, but after a long game was broken back, just as the skies opened again, this time with little warning and drenching rain. It was two hours and 15 minutes before play could resume, and it looked as if that delay was going to be the momentum change Putintseva needed when Kontaveit hit two double faults and played lethargically to fall behind 2-1. Putintseva had two game points to take a 3-1 lead, but Kontaveit's two winners and a costly double fault marked the beginning of the end for the Russian.

Kontaveit held at love to take a 3-2 lead and then began hitting winner after winner, breaking Putintseva and holding for a 5-2 lead. With Putintseva serving to stay in the match, Kontaveit refused to ease up, and with a punishing forehand winner on her first match point, Kontaveit had her first Grade A title.

Putintseva beat her racquet on the Har-Tru several times, crumbling the frame with the violent impact. She shook hands with Kontaveit, then went to her bag, where she continued to bludgeon the smashed racquet.

Kontaveit was well aware of Putintseva's inclination to dramatize every point, but she was not about to get involved in a battle of wills and words.

"I just try to think about my own game and not focus too much on what she is doing," said Kontaveit, who still attends a regular school in Estonia, and takes her books with her when she is on the road.

Kontaveit could also look to several Estonian supporters in the crowd during her rare lapses, as a tennis coach she knows from Estonia brought along several friends with big neon pink poster-sized signs, each containing a letter of her first name.

"They are some Estonian coaches who came here to vacation," Kontaveit explained. "And of course, support helps."

Putintseva didn't think the advice she received from her coach worked for her in the rematch.

"My coach said I have to play more aggressive, but this way doesn't work with her," said Putintseva, whose ITF junior winning streak was snapped at 11. "Last time I was trying to move her more, but this time I was doing what my coach said, playing more aggressive, and that's why I lost today. And she was playing good today."

Kontaveit returns to Estonia on Monday, but unlike Thiem, she will not be leaving junior competition behind after capturing the Orange Bowl title.

"I will play both juniors and Futures," said Kontaveit, who has already won three events on the ITF women's circuit this year.

But for now, she will savor this unexpected victory.

"I didn't see that win coming," she said in her excellent English. "I was hoping to get some good matches, I really did not have big expectations. I'm just really happy."

Thanks to Colette Lewis of zootennis :)

Amazing win for Anett
So great :)
Winning the Orange Bowl at 15 is such an amazing achievement :yeah:
hope this sets the tone for 2012 :)

Putintseva is just an immature b****. She smashes her racquet on the ground every point she loses and screams every point she wins. She also blamed her coach for losing.

CVbyn3vhvc4 She C'mons after every point here and she is losing 5-1 :tape:)
Blaming her coach=Loser=Can't take blame=Immature

Dec 12th, 2011, 05:23 AM
What a great win for Anett! I never expected it to be so comfortable. To win the Orange Bowl as a 15 year old is a great result. I'm definitely excited for Anett in 2012. :yeah:

Putintseva really needs to grow up. She's almost 17.

Dec 12th, 2011, 11:59 AM
Anett :D Great win, been expecting something like that ;)

Dec 12th, 2011, 03:12 PM
Up to 9th in the ITF rankings.

This means, she can play three 25k tournaments next year as part of the junior exempt program.

Dec 13th, 2011, 11:27 AM
If she wins the Australian open and gets up to No. 2, then she will be able to play 1 100,000 and 2 75000. 2012 could potentially send her to no. 1 in juniors and top 200 in singles. She's following in the footsteps of one other northern european player (although Anett doesn't puddle  :worship:)

By the way, according to postimes.com, Anett is playing the Australian Open and Loy Yang Traralgon :)

What does it mean she can play 3 25k tournaments? If she didn't finish the year as top 10 junior, she couldn't play even if her WTA ranking was good enough?

Dec 13th, 2011, 03:01 PM
If she wins the Australian open and gets up to No. 2, then she will be able to play 1 100,000 and 2 75000.

Only year end ranking counts for the junior exempt program.

What does it mean she can play 3 25k tournaments? If she didn't finish the year as top 10 junior, she couldn't play even if her WTA ranking was good enough?

Juniors ranked 6-10 in the year end rankings, can enter 3 25k main draws in the following year, regardless of their WTA ranking. Junior exempts are like wild-cards in that sense. Of course, she is allowed to play more, if her ranking will be good enough.

Short interview with Anett:

Dec 14th, 2011, 09:50 AM
So do you think that she will play the Tallinn 10K tournaments, or not waste her time on 10ks. I think it's just a waste of 2 tournaments. She should use her 12 tournaments wisely, focusing on 25ks and maybe a few 50ks, maybe even a wta at bastad or copenhagen (if she gets a wildcard. Her ranking is high enough to get into baku and tashkent right now!

EDIT: Actually, with her current ranking (568) she could make qualifying into the following tournaments using their last direct acceptances from the 2011 tournament (there are no new tournaments for 2012/tournaments form 2011 being cut out):
Fes (the qualifying list hasn't been released)
Quebec City
Tashkent (they put in extra wcs for the people who didn't come)

Dec 14th, 2011, 11:46 AM
I don't think she'll try to play WTA events yet. But maybe it depends on how her Fed Cup matches will go (it should be a bit easier in the zonal groups, than playing against top 50)
I think she'll play those two Tallinn tournaments, and then probably try more on the 25k (or higher).

Dec 14th, 2011, 12:25 PM
That should be 2 tournament wins, if she uses the home crowd, has a good off season and continues to perform well on the pro-circuit. Although the tallinn tournaments always draw a good field. The challenger in 2010 had anne keothavong, who at the time was 140 in the rankings. Does anyone know if they offer hospitatility or something, because i know that some futures give hospitality even if it is not in the factsheet.

Fed Cup should be great. It's right at her current level. As the second player, there will be no one in the top 100 (except poland, netherlands, great britain and sweden [Great britain is the only one able to get in Estonia's pool]) so she may even be able to record some wins. Hopefully the juniors Aussie Open should give her some momentum.

It's such a shame that fed cup is in israel, cause it would have been great to play some tournaments in the Australian Autumn 25K swing (Launceston, Sydney, Mildura, Bundaberg etc.). Many of the juniors like to play Burnie (Saisai Zheng and Eugenie Bouchard played last years final and Irina Khromacheva made quarters). She could have gotten some great match experience.

Dec 14th, 2011, 01:48 PM
The one in 2010 was a 25k;) I doubt Keothavong would have came if it was 10k.

Dec 15th, 2011, 01:44 AM
I know. That's why I said Challenger

I think that she should try and use the 25k wildcards as quickly as possible so that her ranking doesn't end up getting high enough not to need them later in the year. That would be a waste. Also, let's say she does win both Tallinn tournaments, then she will get 24 ranking points. If she made the semi finals of one 25k, she would have the same amount of ranking points.
Given that all her tournaments count and she is only allowed to play 12, I really think she should be avoiding 10ks, unless she gets into really bad form. Maybe she could play doubles in Tallinn and not singles, given that often she doesn't play doubles when she's on the road. A 10k win in doubles would help her ranking unlike 10k in singles

Dec 15th, 2011, 05:53 AM

Ah, okay.

Playing Tallinn might have something to do with a sponsor. Tallink supported those tournaments, and is also Anett's sponsor.

Dec 15th, 2011, 08:17 AM
Does Anett get money or is it just support, because I know that Kanepi, Zopp and Ivanov get payed. (Kanepi=125k, Zopp=40k, Ivanov=12k)

I doubt Kaia will play Fed Cup this year

 Why?

Dec 15th, 2011, 12:43 PM
Why wouldn't she? She said herself she loves playing it and there is still some good competition. On the other hand, it will test ever loyal Caro Wozniacki whether she will play Eur/Afr G II. Without her, Denmark has 2 ranked players. They will get smashed and relegated to Group 3. There are some decent teams in Group 2. E.g. Georgia, Latvia and Turkey

that would really suck:(

Off-topic. I thought you were translating those articles through Google. How come you speak Estonian?

Anett was playing in Florida at the time and could´t be there ;) Tallink will definitely continue to support her financially.

I am like Mia Nicole Eklund  My father is Estonian, my mother is Dutch and I live in Australia. My parents thought they should teach me these languages. Also, Sabine Lisicki is my cousin.

My Estonian speaking isn't great because I am still learning but I can basically read anything and my writing's pretty good (except my spelling :) ). English is very different to Estonian (as you guys obviously know) whereas Dutch is kinda similar to English, so my Dutch is tonnes better. The reason why I like Estonian stuff is because of course one of my parents is Estonian but also because when I went to the Australian Open I saw Kaia Kanepi play Alicia Molik and I preffered Kaia. So I convinced my parents to sit with the mob of Estonian fans so I could cheer for Kaia without it looking weird. That's when Estonian tennis came into my life!

Dec 16th, 2011, 11:54 AM
Very interesting, thanks for sharing:) I think it's great you get involved both in Dutch and Estonian:yeah: Living in Australia you wouldn't even need all that:p

Dec 16th, 2011, 11:57 AM
I know. But Australia is multi-cultural. Even though there is no competitor to English, it is nice to be able to speak to a tourist (we have a lot of those) in their language. There are quite a few Dutch people in Australia but I only know of one Estonian and he came here when he was 2 so even though he speaks Estonian he is not really Estonian.

These are videos of Anett at Orange Bowl:
The second video is of Putintseva but you get to see the outcome of Anett's shots. She obviously plays more defensively in Juniors than in the videos of her I saw in fed cup

Have there been any news reports for Anett's schedule for 2012?
I know she's playing Aus Opem whichh will be preceded with Loy Yang Traralgon most likely but possibly Czech G1

Dec 21st, 2011, 11:50 AM
Everyone visit my poll on who will win Australian Open Juniors and vote for Anett! :)

Dec 22nd, 2011, 01:16 PM
Anett is 4 seed for Loy Yang Traralon. If she gets a good draw she may make the final or even win. I think she has a genuine shot at the Australian Open crown. I think by the end of 2012 she should be between 200 and 300, be top 5 juniors and then I think she should focus on the professional events. She could potentially be top 100 before her 18th birthday! :)

Dec 22nd, 2011, 08:27 PM
Kromacheva has pulled out of Traralgon. Anett will probably still remain seed 4 as Putintseva gets a higher seed because of her WTA ranking? We also don't know if Mestach is really playing...
Anett has 250 points to defend in March from the Asian tour. Most likely she is not playing it this year so she needs some good results from Australia to remain in top 10.

Dec 22nd, 2011, 08:54 PM

Anett received 2 awards, in U16 and U18. She said she'll try to focus more on the pro circuit, and do her best at junior grand slams.

Dec 23rd, 2011, 01:22 AM
Anett could be 2nd seed as An Sophie is going to lose tonnes of ranking points because of the south american circuit. An sophie will have 617.5 ranking points going into loy yang but anett will have 772.5. Even if Anett loses first round in singles and doubles at both loy yang and australian open, she will probably be ranked number 5 behind khromacheva, barty, bouchard and min. There is a decent chance that she will be top 3 if she performs well at the two tournaments
