She said that she will focus on pro events and will only play junior slams and couple other big junior tournaments.

Career high No. 6 for Anett! :)
She will be No. 5 next week and will therefore be either 4 or 5 seeding depending on wether they seed Putintseva higher.

Anett is seed no 2 in Traralgon. The draw doesn't look too good however - Townsend, Hardebeck, Mestach, Vickery, Putintseva all in her half. Meeting Townsend in R3.

Townsend/Hardeback her confidence will grow. She should beat Putintseva if she plays agressive aain and if she gets to the final she should win. But anett isnt great on the outdoor hardcourts and she's never played on plexicushion before (the blue australian hardcourts) so we may be expecting too much from her. :scared:

A sigh of relief there. Was down 63 20 0-40 before her serve started working.
Thank god she won. Played a very inspired opponent.
Next Olga Doroshina.
Here are the results and draws from Tennis Australia, better updated then the ITF.

I also watched a bit of Bouchard! Nearly got knocked out by Aussie hope Abbie Myers. Seems really slow around the court. Was down many break points in the 3rd but some good serves and groundstrokes along with some missed opportunities from Abbie meant that Eugenie slipped through. Anett's not the only one struggling!

Phew indeed. So she won 6 games in a row in the second set as soon as her serve started to work. Let's hope the serve works better in the next match then

Were you there are Traralgon today, chingching?

A bit of a struggle for Anett today but glad she got through. :yeah:

Yeah. Am going to the open so I thought i'd see anett just for today. she is very good to see live as she is really agressive. had never seen her live before. happy i made the trip. danilina is quite good though. she played amazingly against anett. sh played better than her nearly all the match and anett wasnt playing that badly. had tonnes of opportunities to break but anett played really good points on the big points. much more mature. danilina fell apart at 33 in the second. started playing really negative and ended up crying. anett played a very professional match. danilina very agressive on return but shyed away at the big points. moved much quicker than anett and was getting in anetts head. actually quite unlucky to lose. but happy she did :)
Doroshina will be tonnes easier. ive seen izzy wallace and shes really bad. anett would have won 61 61 or something like that. hopefully straight sets tomorrow. Anett first on court 8.

I really hope Anett doesnt play Tallinn Singles. It would be a waste of 2 tournaments as she can only play 12. It might be could to play doubles though and get her ranking up. She should use her 25k wildcards early in the year so she can get her ranking up. It would be useless to use them at the end of the year as her ranking would already be high enough to get into most 25ks. I know it might be disappointing for the Estonians who wanted to see her play but still, I think it would be best for her career. If she wants to be around 200-300 at the end of year, then she has to focus on challengers.

Not completely surprised given the scores with the other opponents. Taylor probably just played agressively and anett either was too slow or couldnt get a ball in the court until the second where her serve and return started working but too late.

If she gets through townsend though, she has quite an easy trip to the semis. Sharipova is dangerous on the pro tour (made a few 25k finals and wta 2nd round) but kulichkova is crap. Anett should get through to the semis though. Then hopefully khromacheva can be defeated. I hate how easy the other half of the draw is. Anyone could make the final. Hardebeck, Townsend, Zheng, Kontaveit, Shmiedlanova and Khromacheva are all on one half. Anett could have breezed through to the final.

I am sorry to point this out to you, but anett won 3 10 K Finals and is ranked higher than this Bea person. I am sorry but even with anett in bad form, she will still beat Bea. Bea has won 1 professional title and played no 25ks. Also she played in some of the easier tournaments, not glasgow 25k and helsinki 25k like anett. And Anett won the orange bowl! This girl will make her WTA debut at the OLYMPICS!!!!!!!! Also, how can you lose early at the south american junior tournaments at the beginning of the year!!!!!If you are ranked top 150, you are seeded. Rather than in Loy Yang Traralgon, which is G1, not Ga, you have to be ranked in the top 30!!!!!
Anett will smash this Bea person.

I wonder how Bia's biggest fan felt.
By the way, a completely dominant performance from anett. Great agressive play, but not many errors soooooooooooo much better than in traralgon. Her opponent hit a lot of unforced errors though. To answer rushers question, they will always put the final on Rod Laver for both boys and girls and apparently if ash barty made semis they would put her match on rod laver. It would have been first time juniors were on a centre court when not a final. In fact, AO is only grand slam where the juniors play centre court. I think they will put the singles semis on MCA and the doubles final is definately on MCA. I hope that anett makes the final. That would be sooo cool. :)
Good luck for Anett tomorrow in doubles. They are on court 6 so if they havent removed cameras you guys might be able to watch. I am not going tomorrow sadly.

There are some in northern Africa as well, which are also not that far away actually in terms of travelling.

19 Mar / 25 Mar 12 $25,000 LA MARSA, TUN

Got it done in the end. :help: Wasn't she up 6-1 *4-1? I know she served for the match at *5-3 in the third, then Lee served for it at *6-5. Glad she got through. Lee is a tough player who reached the semifinals in Traralgon last week. :)

Townsend is up next, in a rematch of last week. I think she'll fall short again but I hope I'm proven wrong.

Lee puddled at the end and anett got nervous
I hope indy can still play doubles. They really could have gone far in this tournament

What a scoreline. Glad that I decided to sleep, so a lot of nerve cells were saved  I was hoping Anett takes this round in straight sets (well, as I read your reports, she almost did, but then it all went wrong suddenly). Townsend up next and I am not so optimistic about it :scared:
Sad to hear Indy had to withdraw.

Anett and Indy walkovered.
Such a shame. I hope they play together in the future
Anett shocked me today. She started crying just a little, her eyes went red but then she suddenyl got her act together and played 3 great games to win. I thought that she would lose when she started crying but she ended up playing better. That almost never happens. The fact that shes not playing doubles may help her singles.

There are different types of crying. It's sometimes you're so frustrated and angry with yourself, it makes you cry (or rather tears of anger), but then you're able to pull yourself together, and keep going.

Shame about the doubles. It was an exciting team (on paper). What happened to Indy?

I am so disappointed. If only she was seeded 4, then she would make the final. I hate it how she is better but gets a ridiculously hard draw but if she lost to putintseva at orange bowl then she would definately have made the final.
I guess it's the nature of tennis I hope she can get up to no. 4 in the rankings but when her asia points drop off, we must hope that grace mins drop off first :)

10 DFs from Anett, that is really disappointing, considering the scoreline was so close. And yes, this ridiculous draw is indeed frustrating. Oh well, let's hope it'll be better next time.
So the next junior event she is playing will be in May, for RG warmup? Unfortunately she is going to lose some good points from Asia soon and then drop in the rankings.

Tahts okay. I actually enjoyed doing them and I know how frustrating it is to just look at a live score. The double faults were frustrating and they came at key times. Although, Anett really does go after her second serve and won a lot of points from the second serve (a few unreturnables and even an ace). I dont think she really got control of the lefty serve from townsend and some really really really stupid unforced errors. Besides that though, she didnt play too badly and it didnt seem like she served 10 because they were quite evenly spread. Still, to average one double a game is way too much

Anett should go and play these tournaments in america to get some experience:
$50,000 Osprey, FL Clay USA 26 Mar - 01 Apr 2012
$25,000 Jackson, MS Clay USA 02 Apr - 08 Apr 2012
$25,000 Pelham, AL Clay USA 09 Apr - 15 Apr 2012
$50,000 Dothan, AL Clay USA 16 Apr - 22 Apr 2012
$50,000 Charlottesville, VA Clay USA 23 Apr - 29 Apr 2012
$50,000 Indian Harbour Beach, FL Clay USA 30 Apr - 06 May 2012

They are all on clay which she likes (orange bowl is on the same green clay) and the us 50ks are easier than the european ones. Also there are no tournaments in europe this year. They other great thing is none of the lower ranked players playing indian wells and miami will play these cause these are on clay and it would be a waste of time adapting. Although teh tournament in osprey may get people preparing for charleston. Still, she doesnt have to play all of them and it would be a good way to get around 100-150 points

By the way, are any of the estonians going to make a visit to either tere or rocca al mare because it would be nice to give descriptions of player styles as I have only seen vorobjova play ilves in final of estonian championships and there were only 2 or 3 points and I have never seen eva paalma play. I have seen a bit of erika hendsel through her vimeo channel but all of those matches are 2 years old. I have seen a bit of kadi 2 years ago but none of anyone else including mia nicole. There is no australian team so I thought that I would represent estonia as my second favourite country and my favourite tennis country. Anyone who wants to play just has to commit in at the thread in the sub forum fed cup. We will be playing china and given that I am a big li na and pen shuai fan, I know that the team they are fielding are not the greatest tippers ;)

Well, according to this article http://sport.postimees.ee/677360/anett-kontaveit-oli-vaga-hea-aasta/ Anett "thinks she should concentrate on women's tour more, but will play the slams and their warmups".
IMO it would be good for her ranking if she played some other G1 tournaments as well, otherwise she drops out of top10 with those Asian points off in March and then won't get a good seeding for RG.

Anett once again had opportunities at 15-30, but her inexperience held her back
She really could have gotten close in this match. Many opportunities. Anyway, lets hope she does better in her next match
It goes to show though, that if kaia played, and anett played kostova, she might have won a set given that her match was a lot closer today then it seemed

Anyone know whose playing doubles?

This should hopefully set the tone for her season. She should try and get a wildcard into either copenhagen or bastad as she has the capability to go far. And against a wimbledon quarterfinalist, in straight sets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An interesting article. So, basically her coach has pointed out to her that grunting helps her to stay focused and produce better results and kind-of insists on doing it

Another very good win for Anett :hearts: Looks like she really is playing at least on the level of top 200 right now?
But here's a fun fact: Last year Anett played 13 tiebreaks and won 11(!) of them. This year she has played 4 and won 2.

But the ones shes won have actually been career changing important matches whereas the ones against townsend and lee wouldnt have been career changing. The thing I love was that she outdid Bibi mentally. This is a ood sin of what is to come!

You know, I've been always thinking that big countries' juniors have it maybe a bit easier, because they will be offered WCs to various events, so they can gain some valuable experience against much higher ranked players. But Fed Cup has now actually worked out even better for Anett. She got a chance to play 3 matches, at a regular tournament it would have been just the first loss, and then bye bye.

A very legitimate point. Im hoping ether copenhagen or bastad give her a wildcard due to her form. shed almost make copenhagen qualies with her ranking!!!

Its probably a good idea that she stays at home, get some rest and go to school. Her wins at Fed Cup were great, and im sure that she will have a larger fan base in estonia now. Hopefully some people will watch her play at Rocca al Mare!

These are the tournaments that will be in EUROPE until early June. Perhaps Moscow/Bath on 19 march and then she could do the G1 Citta di Croce and Trofeo Bonfiglio followed by Grado then a week off and then Paris for Roland Garros. She could play 100k Cagnes Sur Mer but she would need to play probably 2 25ks and win them both to get into qualies.

Anett's schedule should look like this:

10k Tallinn 2 in February
25k Bath, GBR in March
25k Tunis, TUN in April
25k Chiasso, SUI in April

In juniors she's planning to play just GS, and one tournament in Italy (I assume it's the Italian Open), and maybe some more in the end of the year in USA.

She will use her junior exempts in these three tournaments. Hopes to have a good enough ranking after, so she can get into 25k-s directly.

Goal is to reach top 300 this year.

If she wins Tallinn 2 she shouldnt need the wildcards for Chiasso and hopefully not morocco. She should be top 300 by the end of the year if she continues the form she had at fed cup. She would almost be top 200. To be ranked 300, she needs to have 173 points. If she plays 12 tournaments, thats an average of 14 points a tournament. Should she win at least 2 tournaments this year and hopefully 2 25ks, she should makes this comfortably :)
She has to improve her doubles ranking though. I know she needs to go to school and everything but she should have just played dubs here with indy as a bit of fun, creating a good partnership and earning some money and ranking points. She has the potential to be a good dubs player but being down at 900 is useless. They surely would have given her and indy a wildcard over mahoni and ilves!!!

If she wins Tallinn 2 she shouldnt need the wildcards for Chiasso and hopefully not morocco.

Even, if she wins next week, she would be barely inside top 600. Last year, Chiasso was one of the strongest 25k tournaments, with a MD cut of #206. No reason to think it would be much lower this year.

And the junior exempt is not exactly the same as wildcard.

Really!!!! I just assumed it would be weak as many of the swiss tournaments in the past havent been strong and i watched a video of the tournametn and there was noone i had seen before. Bath will be strong, all of the british ones are. This weeks rabat is decently strong so anett would be 2 seed in qualies. Tunisia will e weaker though. I hope she doesnt get killed in Tunis :scared:

Any player who beats a top 50 player will smash a player ranked 500 no matter how they are playing. and Van Riet is a puddler so anett will just walk all over her. I dont see her losing this tournament. I understand why she played it but she really shouldnt have played this tournament. If she wins this tournament she will have lost 2 professional matches in estonia and 1 at RAM. She will be undefeated at RAM indoor
