This match wasn't difficult to predict. Ana is terrible these days.

Ana retire. You should go try out for lacrosse with your ball-catching skills after your wayward toss

Ana was spraying errors like crazy...she is hopeless! She had 50 unforced errors and 4 double faults in 1 and 4 match!

Ana was up 4-2, 30-15 in second.

Sveta :D :worship:

Feb 6th, 2010, 03:24 PM
Ana hit only two winners less, but you can't expect to win a match with 50 unforced errors :o Bad line calls against Ana were a bit deciding in the 2nd set, but overall Sveta was the better player - congrats :yeah:

That was a good start for Sveta. Larisa, her coach, always loved Fed Cup.
That's where she is getting this from. Now Sveta wants to play FC

Sveta :worship:. Russian Fed Cup stalwart you are. She played pretty well out there, and I'm happy with that.

As for Ivanovic, well that was horrible. I desperately want to see the 2007 version back. That Ivanovic was kickass.

Really did anyone think Ana would win? she just gets worse and worse. Serbia would have been better off playing Ana Jovanovic.

If this match had take place back in 2007, then the answer would be yes. But today's Ana is just a shadow of what she was back then. Sad story.

It's not even funny to laugh at Ivanovic anymore :fiery:
But I still could laugh at her stats : she's now 10-28 vs slam winners with 5 of 10 wins coming against Kuznetsova and 25 of 28 losses coming in straight sets

P.S.
This match only highlights Sveta ana Ana are by far the worst returners among GS champions of 2000s. Seriosuly, some of those returns dumped into the bottom of the net were just embarrassing.

Ana is still young. But the mental part is the toughest.
Nicole has that problem, and Sharapova too.

Ana apparently did. She said in an interview this week that Serbia is not practicing doubles because it will win the tie in singles.

And Sveta - - good win

After every Ivanovic match I keep wondering what happened to her game and when and why her fall began :o

Why does Serbia have the other 2 players in the team if they never get to play any matches?

They should let them play doubles.

There is just too much pressure for Ana and Jelena. Why do they have to play all 5 matches?

This is beyond stupid.:cuckoo:

Ana, you can't even beat people who you have good records against now. Good luck tomorrow, try not to hit so many errors...good thing Jelena was here to save Serbia's ass.

Nicole has that problem, and Sharapova too.

Care to explain? Not saying I disagree with you, but I mean obviously people usually talk about the mental game as being Sharapova's greatest strength.

This match was just horrible, they both made so many errors, especially Ana who played like a player ranked around 125. sveta wasn't much better too, but she didn't really have to do much against Ana who really played just plain terrible...

Feb 6th, 2010, 07:41 PM

But I shouldn't be disappointed. In Ana's current state, a Top 5 win is waaay too much to ask.

Why do people have such high expectations for Ivanovic? You don't come out of an 18-month slump and suddenly beat the world #4. If she was putting pressure on herself to win this match then she was setting herself up for a fall.

Kuznet sova has been beaten by Ula radwanska for god's sake. I don't think it's too much to ask

Unfortunately, we've been watching the same thing we saw in the past year and a half. Ana wanted to win so bad, but she just couldn't. The nerves completely destroyed her game yesterday. Hopefully, she'll do better today.
