View Full Version : Serena withdraws from Paris.

Injuredrena doesn't want to take any risks. Dementieva becomes the top seed now.
Paris' field looks ridiculously cheap. Thankfully Amélie will have some farewell celebration on Wednesday which could draw spectators there. Otherwise this year's edition doesn't seem very exciting.

Just to make it clearer :http://www.lequipe.fr/Tennis/breves2010/20100206_105125_s-williams-forfait.html

So much for her hitting partners being in Paris. :tape:

Serena n'habite pas à Paris cette année. :awww:

Nope, since it's not a mandatory tournament. She'll only lose last year's points.:)

you do get 0 pts for withdrawing from Premier events (700k and above), P5
top 10 players get hit more

Well the Superbowl won't finish until about 5.30am CET Monday. She was never going to play.

Are there byes for the top 2 seeds?

I expected as much, no point risking injury like she did last year, compromising her clay court season.

More a flippant comment than an argument. But okay, by the time Serena finishes hob-nobbing it'll be Monday morning. Getting herself sorted and flying means she wouldn't land in Paris until very late Monday night/Tuesday morning. Doing all the to play in mere Premier tournament was never going to happen:)

Really? Didn't know that...
Anyway, I don't think Serena will be bothered too much by that!

Serena is already carrying a zero for not playing
Charleston in 2009

Paris is the same level so I guess she will have to carry a THIRD (also Indian Wells) zero in her Ranking

Sounds great to me and even better to her. :wavey:

Fuck Indian Wells!!

only thing that complicates issues is
top 10 players get a Zero point for withdrawing from Premier Commitment tourns.
Commitment and entering the tourn are 2 diff things

Definitely the correct decision on Serena's part.
She needs to be 100% going into the FO.

I'm glad she's not playing. Let her enjoy and savor her win at the AO and party at the Super Bowl in Miami!

Bombshell! :haha:
It was never in doubt she wouldn't be playing.
But if she'd rather party at the Super Bowl (:hearts:), she's right. Paris OGDF sucks.

So what are you saying? That if she had no injury at all, she'd be in Paris?

more than likely since she herself said she enjoys paris and playing there (has an apartment there and all) clearly she was struggling with her leg since sydney, and she knows what happened last year with her ridiculous sydney, ao, paris, dubai, miami, stint...

but hey...you'll never believe her so what difference does it make

I don't think she ever intended on playing. This must have been one of those tour commitments the players are forced to make, it was never even on her own schedule.

Of course I would, but every man and his dog knows why she's not playing. Same reason she's not playing Fed Cup.

Yes it was. There was a typo mistake and it is posted in the PAST EVENTS on her website. cause she wrote it finished in January instead of February :p

well it looks like we're gonna see a Dementieva-Wickmayer final now, unless one of the other players really steps up next week

It was on her schedule...do your research more thoroughly in the future.

It's a shame she can't play, I always enjoy this tournament and her form at Paris GDF last year was

it had to have been recently added. because last i checked paris was not on her schedule. FYI. im basing it off of when i looked at the schedule and what i saw. no need for me to research. true enough it is on there now. but at the end of the day my point is valid and i stick by it based off what i saw. i wouldn't just pull shit from my ass if i didnt know what the hell i was talking about...fyi? thats what majority of these posters on here do.

Nothing personal here, but you're just not right on this one.

It was on her site all her long...due to a date typo it was listed as a past event since before the end of the AO. You just didn't look hard enough and had to have someone post you a direct link to it. You can't then go around calling poster out for BS on that basis.

Totally unnecessary tournament for her. She should pace herself this year. Now only if she could fix that clay season schedule.

Since she skips IW she must forced to play Marbella.

what about people that bought tickets just to see Serena?

RVD
Feb 7th, 2010, 02:16 AM
what about people that bought tickets just to see Serena? They need to start checking Serena's own web site where she herself lists which events she will play. They also need to check for updates thereafter.

I make these suggestions because the actual tournament executives will often mislead fans by placing her on the schedule or in the draw of events that she either never had
scheduled, or pulled out of months or days prior. :)

I think she had Paris on her website.

Nevertheless, people should know by now not to buy tickets just to see Serena, unless it's for a slam.
