Amazing match...

too bad a wrong call (9:45) decided the whole outcome,

and that was Clijsters´ third straight slam final loss to Henin... luckily for her Henin didn´t come back in early August 2009! :haha:

Luckenin-Hardenne at her best.

Justine serving at her most monstrous in this match. Such physical exertion on her shots probably led to her virus in mid '04.

The match was actually pretty one-sided until 6-3 4-2, where Justine started playing inexplicably tight, and Kim finally started to find some range on her groundstrokes. When she realised that she could actually get a reprieve by looping the ball onto Henin's backhand, she was able to find better set-ups for her forehand. Of course being Clijsters in a major final, was unable to string the winners together consistently enough without leeking multiple errors. Justine's greater court-craft and the ability to hit shorter, more compact angles off her forehand ultimately gave her the edge.

I don't get this nonsense about how the call' 'changed' the match. If anything, Kim double-faulting when she had game points was the biggest detriment to her winning the game. Plus, even if she had won the game, 4-4 is NOT the match. It's merely a slight momentum shift, which is hardly decisive.

damn you Sandra De Jenken  :fiery:

Even with this major mistake (even though she was "convinced" to call that ball out), I still miss Sandra...

i remember she even cried at the cerimony after umpiring a men´s final I guess in a slam
