Allthough I am a Belgian, I believe it is better she calls it quits:

- Kim did the same allthough she has a very light schedule
- Justine is not interested
- Belgium, in particular Flanders, treated her like crap with the VDT
- Her schedule is very heavy she needs a rest, not some tough matches on gravel
- Fedcup is not really important and without Kim or Justine Belgium has no chance
to win

Really I do not understand why she is going for it.

What a pointless thread. Let her do what she thinks it's the best for her.

Domachowska will play. :o Belgium is the favourite even without Kim & Justine.

Yes, but BECAUSE she hasn't been treated well, it makes her look great as she is playing. I think it's a really wonderful decision.

It's good for her to play Fed Cup and I'm sure she can carry the team to the latter stages of the competition even without Kim and Justine who may decide to come on board during the latter half of the competition. There's a great atmosphere and she can improve her public image and maybe inspire some future belgians with her fighting spirit. I can't see any negatives by playing fed cup. She's already ranked very high and will only go up so this is probably a nice change of pace for her.

Why should Wickmayer play Fed Cup? PR plain and simple. This is a girl greatly in need of public support, particularly locally. Additionally with the court case still upcoming the more public support she can get the better. Can public support sway decisions like these? I don't know but it certainly can't hurt.

Dont think so every sports fan here is convinced that at most
she made an administrative error.

She has a very good relationship with Appelmans though, the Belgian
Fedcup sponsor, they are both sponsored by the same lingerie brand.

That is where the explanation lies probably.

I'm certainly convinced that at most she made an administrative error. And I do think that goes for the majority of posters too. But all? Absolutely not. Wickmayer definately is right to do anything she can to gain public support and good for her doing it.

It's a stupid decision to play fed cup after the way they treated her, but I'm not surprised that you would support such a decision

I don't see why she should skip Fed Cup. She had/has issues with the doping officials, not the ITF or the Belgian Tennis Federation. She's been a main fixture in the team for the last few years, and I really can't see her abandon her teammates because of her problems with some grey men in suits.

Good opportunity for her to get her first top 10 win.
