Your post is a bit old but if it can help for the upcoming years... I worked on Roland Garros this year as a hostess. A lot of hostess agencies offer temp. jobs on Roland Garros. To get one, you have to live in France and yes, speak French. Of course they also require you to speak at least English (a fluent one, most of the times) and if you have a third language, you might be able to work in the players' area.

Speak fluent English you say :) Not all of them do from my experience, well I do speak a fair bit French, perhaps they pick that up very soon. Once they know you understand French it's very hard to get back to the "more fluent english" (for most)

You mean being fluent in English, not in French? Because if you don't, I don't understand your post.
You are hired by a French agency so 1/you need the papers to be allowed to work in France 2/of course you have to be fluent in French.
Now if you mean being fluent in English, they are supposed to. Or at least for the VIP sections. All the people I met had at least a Master's Degree in modern languages. Now since I was working in the players' area, I haven't met everyone either and I don't know the hostesses who were simply checking tickets at the entrance.
I add that if you want to be a driver for the players, you have to apply to the FFT.

Ah yes, I meant English, my bad, Excusez moi :) Yes I was talking about the security guards mainly, and sometimes the cute girls who check the tickets at the Chatrier or Lenglen. Drivers, if you really like the Peugeots, then it could be a nice job i guess. I was there for photography during the first week, at the practice courts you can see quite a different level of cars, I think they are personal cars, mainly Czech, Russian, Bulgarian, some italian.. etc but all Mercedes, BMW, ..
