Maria Kirilenko has made her arrival in Auckland tonight, and is ready to up the ante on the ATC tour in Season 5.

"For sure last season was a very disappointing one for me. I had a great year up until the French Open Final, which is the second time I've choked away let a slam title get away from me. I never really recovered from that loss last year and let the rest of the season go"

Kirilenko credits a gutsy win over Alicia Molik at the Year End Championships with re-invigorating her desire to play on.

"I was questioning myself and where I was going. I've been doing this since the beginning. I found a spark in Madrid and beat Alicia, who ended up winning the title. I've come to Auckland with a new gameplan, new motivation and desire to win that Grand Slam. I'm ready to go. I'm looking forward to the third annual Molik-Kirilenko Auckland showdown for the title".

Kirilenko was also asked about Nicole Vaidisova, who has repeatedly taken shots at the Russian in her little-read blog.

"I'll pray for her", said Kirilenko. "It's sad yet predictable at this time that during the off-season Nicole would spend her time using my name to gain fans and fame on a little known or read blog instead of training. Her tennis at the Hopman Cup left a lot to be desired, didn't it. Is this the part where we cue some generic copy and paste job from Nicole about how I'm horrible and she's not dating Radek and how she's awesome? :rolls: "
