Yeah, because she's really in Lindsay's league.

Lindsay has 3 slams, 1 YEC, 1 Olympics Gold Medal, 11 Tier 1 titles, 55 overall career titles, and 98 weeks at #1.

Oh, fair enough. I meant overall champion. :)

if she is, then it's her own fault. lindsay wasn't the most charismatic player to hit the court, and her negative attitude cost her a much more auspicious career and probably the respect of the general tennis community.

She wasn't not charasmatic. She just wan't an attention seeker like a lot of other players.

Arantxa Sanchez Vicario.

Some people think of her as this opportunistic weaponless pusher who just ran around retreiving and caught Steffi on off days.

Nope I don't believe so.

I think Serena is really unappreciated. Her outstanding results are being overshadowed because people can only think of some events ;)

Margaret Court probably. Lindsay, ASV and Mandlikova were "overshadowed" by players with even better results. Court seems to be less appreciated then Billy Jean King despite having way more slams. But of course Billy Jean Kings influence on women's tennis was very big and went far beyond her already great results.

Hana

Ditto. This girl won FOUR slams and people are still shocked to here that she won one! Maybe here it is a different deal because she never won wimbledon, but she did make the final twice, so I cannot understand why most people i talk to have never even heard of her!

Well, she was certainly amongst the cattiest champions tennis has ever seen. She took particular pleasure in taking shots at the Williams Sisters and Steffi Graf.

I loved how outspoken she was about Tour issues and how she always called the Tour management on their bullshit. She may be slightly underrated, but deservedly so, considering she was always the weakest player, accomplishments-wise, in the Hingis-Davenport-Williams-Williams nexus which ruled during the WTA heyday.

The thing is Lindsay just doesn't have the slam numbers  In every other category she's right up there, but slams is the main criterion by which players are judged and 3 is not enough, so, sadly, she is forgotten.

She probably is and she probably doesn't care. I dunno, I have such respect for Lindsay, because she seemed so articulate and unprepared to get involved in silly bullshit like advertising endorsements and so on. If she felt shit on court, you knew it, and I kinda liked that. Plus, her ball-striking is/was BEAUTIFUL.

can explain me why maria is so over-rated?
Everybody throws this but no one said that she would be the goat...

And honestly, "haters" are so boring. No creativity. It's always the same things: overrated/ugly/quitter/cheat:help:. At least there is here an ana hater but that person is really funny.

Sveta, unfortunately, is just too inconsistant. Sure she has won two Slams, but was a bit lucky there too. Unlike Davenport, she was never ranked number one for either a week never mind a year. Lindsay is a three time Slam winner, has over 90 weeks at number one and 4 years ending as the top ranked player, and won over 50 tournaments. She was an Olympic Gold Medal winner, a YEC winner and a good doubles player. Lindsay also has a far superior record than Maria- the, so called, 70 million dollar player-LOL!! No doubt, Hana is underrated too, though also not in the same calss as Lindsay.

I guess you could say that Maria used to be over-rated, 'cause after Wimbledon 2004 "everyone" said that this was the changing of the guard, that Masha would dominate women's tennis from now on, etc... That probably rubbed some people the wrong way and since the Sharapova-Domination didn't happen, they say that she's still overrated. Sour grapes.

You joined in 2007, so you don't know the rich history of Maria Sharapove and TF. In 2004, Maria was the darling of the tennis world. She slayed the giant at Wimbledon and the tennis establishment was so ready to crown what they considered a "proper champion". When Maria won Wimbledon there were all those people proclaiming her to be the second coming of Steffi Graf. They said the Williams' were done and that Maria would go on to dominate tennis for a long time. Maria fans were very obnoxious and were proclaiming that Maria as a teen had a better career than Serena etc....All these thing did not materialize and she has taken a few step backward and yet the tennis establishment still wants to include her as one of the best players in the world, which she is currently not.

IMO it's either Majoli or Myskina, both of them great players, but people used to forget their GS champions.
The fact that great part of the board is under 23 (and let's not start discussing about menthal age) or so it's important I guess :p

I just dont rate her, I find her game predictable and dont think she has the consistency to be rated among the best.
I would love to see how much attention she would get if she looked like kuznetsova.
Dont get me started on ana what a joke she is, proud to be a hater of that b*tch!
