She couldn't hold serve. Serena was in 'devour mode.' Stupid thread. However, I like to think about Vika in a semifinal. So...

...Had Vika and Na Li met in the semis... I find it hard to believe that Vika would not have won. She was playing incredible tennis.

Despite losing to Na in 3 sets last year... Vika would have beaten Vera (whom she never had) and Serena before she played Na. No way should she lose that match.

Vika vs. Justine would have been a great final. Edge to Justine.

Hmm in 2009 probably Safina and Dementieva, maybe Sveta would have won it, who knows...

Mindlessly voting for Vika in polls like these doesn't come as naturally as mindlessly voting for Lena, but I'm working on it.

Vika obviously, she was playing the best tennis out of all the 3 other semifinalists imo (if she would have beaten Serena in the QFs).

Then, if Wickmayer had converted the set point in the 1st set and played the same in 2nd, she could of been in the final instead of Justine.

So Vika vs Yanina in the final, youth winning:hearts:

Justine Henin of course. Azarenka performance against bad-hour Serena is less impressive to me than Petrova against bad-hour Clijsters, and that bad-hour of Kim is enough for Nadia to destroy her and for Azarenka "just" for 6-4 4-0 lead - which is obviously not enough when GOATrena regroup herself. And Henin is who beat Nadia giant-killer (Petrova beat 2 of last 3 GS winners Kim and Sveta before faced Justine) so Vika will be just her 2nd giant-killer victim in road to AO title... btw Henin beat only player which REALLY beat Serena Williams this january in Austraslia (Elena Dementieva).

"Slower" hardcourts (including former rebound ace) obviously perfect suits to Serena game (see her records at AO and Miami) and her wins and loses in Melbourne is always "all about Serena". Serena won AO 5 times and only one player out of six which ever beat Serena here and reach final (that season) is Martina Hingis in 2001 and nobody else! Even Martina not won title that season so why Azarenka 2010 will be any exception?

BTW we have way more arguments to say that Vera Zvonareva choke against Azarenka in R16 after 6-1 4-2 lead, than Serena against Vika just two days later. This discussion remind me about Ana Ivanovic AO-comeback in 2008 after Hantuchova lead 6-0 2-0 where we also have "better player regroup herself and win" situation but people insist on "Hantuchova biggest choke" theory.

People insist on that "theory" because it was exactly what happened.

Henin, of course. She would have beaten anyone but Serena.
