Both Venus & Serena have said that they want to play in the next Olympic games which means that they will be playing for a few more years. This must just be wishful thinking on the part of people who are afraid that they will beat their favorite player.

In the ceremony, I remember hearing Henin said she will be back next year, but Serena didn't... Or maybe I missed it...

But I think they just want to play doubles at London, well thats what was suggested at last year's wimby coverage on the BBC.

I know they've said it about Venus because of her "dysmal" performance......

That's ridiculous. Didn't Serena and Andy just announce this year they would compete in mixed doubles for olympics 2012?:lol:

They've been saying that about Venus for years now.
Despite her high ranking and her bankability at Wimbledon.

Plain and simple, their are many that want Venus & Serena gone.
And many of them will be moaning as well when they are gone
and interest in the WTA takes a tremendous hit w/o them.

Because some people believe if they say something often enough it'll happen.

Wishful thinking.
They are not retiring! Especially Venus. Venus loves the Olympics and no way in HELL is she missing out on the chance to win another singles gold at WIMBLEDON, on you know the "only" surface she can win on. Plus, Venus is in the works with Bob Bryan to be partners and Serena and Roddick have already agreed.

No she didn't indeed. But she never says that.

When Venus and Serena retire Women's Tennis will lose a lot of fans and popularity. Venus and Serena transcend race they made tennis popular outside of the snobbish white country club crowd.
