is a career-redefining moment for Serena more than Justine's.

Then this should really be in Serena's forum where her fans can properly discuss it.

Posting this in GM is clearly just an attention seeking move to create drama around a topic which has already been argued to death.

I'll kick it up a notch: Justine doesn't believe in God. When she isn't worshiping Satan, she's smothering kittens and, even worse, drinking the last of the milk and orange juice and putting the empty cartons back in the fridge. She's a horrible horrible person and does not deserve to win this Australian Open.

Well Serena was born a man. Her being a her is a lie starded my Richard since he knew she would never make it as a male player. I totally agree that any slams that were won in Justine's absence should be delegitimized. (sarcasm alert!!). But why stop at Serena's slams, why not include Venus' victories at Wimbledon and the other ladies who won without having to face the wrath of Justine.
Graf and Navratilova are soooo lucky that they played in the pre-Justine era.

The only reason either of them win slams is that Lena is such a kind, sweet, generous and personally fulfilled person that she LETS them win, knowing that tennis is the only thing that Justine and Serena have to justify their mean-spirited, pathetic, otherwise useless existence.

What I find interesting is how much better Elena has gotten at pretending to "lose" matches at slams. Remember how back in the old days, she'd go out there and do such a bad job of "losing" she didn't even look like she knew how to play tennis? Now, she manages to be much more subtle about hiding her vastly superior talent and skills and makes the matches look very competitive.

AO 2010 will determine if Serena can indeed win a slam with Henin in the draw. This is Serena's match to win more than Justine's.

With this kind of Logic,Steffi Graf would have not won any of those slams if Seles was there. Not only that, the MOTIVE for Seles being STABBED was to KEEP her from beating Steffi Graf.
None of this happened to Henin, she quit for her own reasons.

One more point, if Serena had not being messing around with the acting and other things, and stuck to tennis, all I can say would be BRING ON HENIN and all like her. IMO,at this point Henin is the better player because she stuck only to tennis. As far as abiltiy goes, Serena has just as much ability as anybody, and these make up comparisons don't hold water!!

You are right, Graf might not have won all those slams had Seles not been stabbed. But why bring them in this discussion?

The thread title states fact not a hypothesis like the one mentioned above.

AO 2010 will determine if Serena can indeed win a slam with Henin in the draw.Or it proves that Serena can SUSTAIN excellence, on a level tht Henin can only reac every now and again.

So far, Serena started winning slams four YEARS before Henin, and was still holdng slam titles whie Henin couldn't even compete.

Lotta story left to be written. And it would take a lotta story for Serena NOT to wind up better.

How come one is "fact" and the other is an "hypothesis"???

Just because you favor one OPINION??

My opinion is Serena would beat Henin if she had not went into that show business thing.

Just like you stated that Henin would have beat Serena if she had not retired. All of this makes their point around "if".

I love how in that thread the other day about Serena passing Graf in total Slam titles, when everyone was saying it was irrelevant, the Serena fans were going "the OP is just pointing out a fact, no need to get so defensive". But isn't that also true of this thread?

Anyway, although the fact the thread is based around is interesting, I agree it won't have any relevance once the two of them step on the court. If both of them are at their best, on the 'neutral' battleground of hard courts (clay being slightly in Henin's favour, grass in Serena's), there will be nothing between them. I'm just thoroughly looking forward to a great match.

I do agree that this thread is just "stating a fact", but Serena shouldn't be blamed for Henin's blood condition (2005), her marriage (2007) or her "retirement" from the sport (2008-2009).

Serena still managed to beat other good players, just like Justine managed to do during the 2003 US Open, 2004 Aussie Open, 2005 French Open and 2006 French Open when Serena was not in attendance.

Where was Henin?

Maybe she was perfecting the hand signals to a science with Carlos.
There is difference 4 slams between the 2. Serena has hers won on all surfaces.
She also has 11 GS Women doubles, and 1 mix GS double.

Serena's fans are going to have to get used to one thing. Even if Serena wins tonight her domination is over. Justine is playing only the second tournament of her comeback and a slam final is a fantastic result but she's going to get better the more she plays and with more tournaments under her belt and come French open Justine will be primed and ready for another slam. I hope the domination ends tonight but Justine has played a lot a tough matches so if she recovered she's an even money chance to win. :)

What does Justine making a slam final without playing Serena, the woman who YOU claim has dominated the game (i dont believe she has....people have beaten her..Dementieva practically owned her except when it mattered most) have to do with Serena "dominating"

I don't understand why Serena fans think this thread was created to bash her or spread hatred. It was just a stated FACT which is normal to be highlighted a day before their match.
