View Full Version : (If you don't particularly like either finalist) Who do you want to win?

As much as I am getting tired of Serena winning this all the time, I can't forgive what Henin did to Zheng   so, c'mon Serena! I prefer Serena's attitude and personality :bounce:

If Serena wins on Saturday, she will have won the tournament 3 times out of the last 4 years - or if you want to look at it a different way - 4 times out of the last 6 years. As much as that is admirable, it gets kinda monotonous. I'm not a fan of either, as such, so I don't really care who wins. I guess it'll be a greater 'story' if Justine wins, but frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.

I dislike Justine more, but on the other hand if she wins it mean Lena lost to the eventual champion, which sucks less.

Frankly, it's just killing time until the men's final, which I also can't decide whom I want to win, but it's because I like all the possible contenders.

Yeah, same here. I cannot WAIT for Sunday. I hope Saturday's final is a good'n, but as for who wins... meh.

Great thread idea. I just assume you love one and hate the other, and respect them both. I forget there are people who feel equally about them. Either they like them the same or don't like either of them. I'm currious who they are for too?

If I had to choose, it would be Justine. But only because I think someone winning a Grand Slam as often as Serena wins the Aussie Open is a little boring. No offence to her fans or anything, though. If Serena wins, it will be because she deserves it and she's #1. But in the meantime... Go Justine??? Yay...(!)

Well I used to hate Henin for what she put my JJ through, but I still respect her for her technically amazing talent. I'm not a fan of her coach either :help:

I admire Serena, but nowhere near dislike her as much as Henin, but she beats my faves all the time too (see my sig) and it's like everytime these play eachother I root for Serena, I enjoy it when they play because I can tell inside Serena really wants to show her who's boss. But yeah, I don't like Serena because she seems arrogant sometimes and always beats my faves.

Still, instead of putting it 50/50, I think I'd prefer 75/25 in Serena's favour :p simply because I don't want someone else to come from retirement to win their 1st GS entry (although I was happy for Kim)

if it wasnt for Carlos Rodriguez, I would like Henin so much better. Il m'énerves complètement!

So anyway, I envy the ones who don't care who wins. You don't need an ambulance on call come Saturday night.

I'm not a fan of both players, but I think Serena is a great champion and a good player. And I just hate Justine, so definatly I prefer Serena to win this. And plus if Justine wins she will do almost the same Clijsters did when she comeback last year and I will hate Justine even more if she wins. :(

Well because I'm an Aussie and I'm sick of seeing Serena win (for those that don't know Australians enjoy backing the underdog and get p*ssed off when a particular player or team dominates sport) I'd probably like Justine to for something completely different.
But either winning isn't going to upset me, they both deserve to be there and both are worthy opponents.
If I had my way this would be the result in all tournaments (give or take a Venus/Kim), I would be happy to never see Sharapova or whateverskinnytalluselessbimbo in tennis again.

Justine. If only because I would rather not have 800 poll threads regarding whether Serena could win the Calendar Slam.

But I agree with some other sentiments, I would like Justine so much more were it not for Carlos. He really bothers me for some reason.

Serena has to win or she will be ruthlessly bashed by some Henin's fans for her losses to Henin in all four Grand

slams. You can see lots of pressure on Serena's shoulders.I seriously doubt if she can play her best tennis on saturday.

I think I'll be cheering on Serena. I think it'd be cool to see someone defend at the AO, and I want Kim to have done at least one thing that Justine hasn't (won a GS as a WC). :p

A topic for a whole other thread. It'll be interesting to see how JH holds up over a full season of play. Kim's certainly suddenly human again. I predict a cooling off for JH, too. (Not an implosion, necessarily, any more than making the Rnd of 16 is all that bad).

I still think the "suckfulness" of the WTA has a lot to do with the idiocy of the scheduling and a bit of wheel spinning among the younger players as anything else.

There used to be a logic to the season. Australia. Asia. Europe. America. End of the Year.

Now there's no rhyme or reason, and the jet lag alone accounts for 3/4 of the mental lapses IMHO. The other 1/4 is that yeah, too many headcases in the 20-24 range.

(Yes, I know my favorite is a role model for all the other headcases, but it's true).

exactly...all this continent hopping just has players stretched thin...coupled with the fact that they have to play where and when they don't want to...

seeing her with her leg injuries and she could still go all the way to the final along with doubles, that's admirable.

I like both finalists. Serena, for her sheer power, determination, will to win, and ability to incorporate finesse when need be. Justine, for her work ethic, traditional one-handed backhand, mental fortitude, and flexible craftmanship. I, for one, can't wait for this final. It's two of my favs going at it and the outcome is insatiable!!
