View Full Version : Justine About Match Vs Williams

In an interview for belgian tv Justine said the following, (I can't be bothered to translate the questions too):

"I played a couple of tough matches, and I am a bit tired."

"I played focused and aggressive and I am glad I won easily, it is the best possible preparation for the final."

"I didnt expect to be in the final again right away, but I did book my flight back to Europe on sunday (laughs)."

"I was curious to see how the tournament would go, I took it step by step and it's fantastic to play another final here."

"It will be tough against the best in the world. She is a real champion. She proved that this tournament when she had to fight back against Azarenko. I am very happy to find her on my road because she is the best. I look forward to the match and will try to take the title."

Good sportmanship and great respect for Serena, some of us in this forum could take an example of that. I think the Serena-JH rivalry is more between the fans than between the players.

EDIT
Monirena Wiles:
Here's what Serena had to say about Justine. You can add it to the first post if you want since it show the mutual respect they BOTH have toward each other now:

"I definitely think of her as a rival. I think we bring out the best game in each other. I think that we both just play our hearts out. I think that's what creates a good rivalry."

"What qualities don't she have? She has everything from really a serve, which you might not think, but she has a really good serve, to both great backhand and forehand."

"She's playing really well. She's doing great. Well, it's just been amazing. I mean, her and Kim, such a great story. Justine hasn't been gone that long, but it's still a good story."

"So I just always meet her in the quarterfinals. I don't know how many times we've played in the finals. I know we played once in Miami in the finals. She was doing everything and beating me really bad. I managed somehow to come back. I don't know how. I don't really think about one match in particular."

She spoke very nicely last night about Serena, and yes I do think the rivalry is more between the fanbases than the actual players.

Of course it is. That's part of the fun. I'm sure you don't actually think that ALL the Red Socks hate the Yankees or vice versa? Unfortunately, I can't say the same thing about the fans when their all in the same stadium.

I wish we could have GS final between these two with just justine and serena fans in the building. That would be awesome to watch, and i truly mean it. Being a new york ranger fan, i am obliged to hate the devils and hate their fans , it's what makes sports great, the rivalry between the teams/players and the fans. I love it.

First, no criminal or civil charges were filed against Serena Williams. Second, its a good thing we have that little thing in the Constitution here in the states that says a person is innocent until proven guilty by a jury of their peers in a court of law.

No more argument from me.

ps I wasn't actually suggesting legal charges should be brought against her. It's more a term of phrase.

pps we have that too x

I saw her post-match interview with Pam Shriver, and for those that didn't see it, trust me that Henin can hardly contain her excitement at playing Serena. I think she has been training specifically for moments like tomorrow, and I don't think she will show Serena any mercy... :scared:

Both Serena and Justine have said very decent, good things in these interviews, and -- shock of the year -- their most ardent fanatics still act like children. TRAGIC!

AND FYI PEOPLE WE ALL YES ARE ENTITLED TO OUR OPINIONS. BUT PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE SENSE AND RELATE TO THE SAME SUBJECTS AT HAND...DON'T ADD SITUATIONS/CIRCUMSTANCES TO THINGS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ORIGINAL POINT THAT WAS BEING MADE.

THE POINT IN THE THREAD WAS REGARDING SERENA AND HENINS RIVALRY. BASED UPON THAT THE USOPEN SCENARIO IS IRRELEVANT. JUST LIKE MENTIONING JUSTINES MARRIAGE (IF SOMEONE DID) WOULD BE IRRELEVANT....just an fyi people....

You guys are still at it ! Debating about whether serena's outburst is worse than justine's cheats ? This won't change the result of the match whatsoever so give up

A rivalry indeed but nice to see a healthy level of respect from each about the other. Its definitely moreso the fan bases than anything else and lets be honest...many Serena fans won't get over the infamous hand incident, but a lot of it is because she is the only legitimate threat to exceeding Serena's major singles total. I will always root for Serena over anyone, but even I've warmed up to Justine. The herpes comments and juicing stuff is just old and tired. They are both great champions.

It's so great to see two great champions to have such a great mutual respect for eachother. :hearts: Oh and people, you can't base your opinion of someone by what you see on a tennis court. :o It's just as silly to call Justine a cheating liar in real life as calling Serena a violent bully. NONE of us truly know who they really are, so who says we can judge?

The past 10 pages of this thread = :o

I agree with the starter of the thread. Justine is always pretty respectful towards Serena and Serena has a lot of respect for Justine.

It will be a great match

I follow sport for sport, I really couldn't give a shit what Justine is like off court, she plays fantastic tennis and that's all I really want to see.
Same with Serena really, in fact the only issue I have with Serena off court is that she needs to pay more attention to her Miami Dophins (thought they'd won a game when they hadn't!).

There's really no point trying to discuss the hand incident/Lineswoman incident, because both sides are never going to agree but really, using it as an excuse to hate someone is poor.
People make mistakes in life and deserve more than hatred for one controversy in an extremely pressurized situation.

Serena never threatened anyone's life, that is really a misintepretation that I don't think people even bother to correct themselves with.
And Justine's incident only concerns those that were actually on court.

I think both respect each other and know what sort of impact they've had on tennis in general.

Some of the comments in this thread are just:tape:.
I am sure both Justine and Serena could not give a shit what some losers on a web forum have to say. People take things so seriously on here. Get a life and stop spending your lives spewing hate on a forum. Tennis is just a sport, its about the love for the game, about having fun. No one has killed anyone. So, leave your computer screens and get a life because lets face it neither Justine or Serena give a flying f@@@ about any of you on here or what you have to say.

I talk a lot of shit sometimes, there are certain players I dislike but I never take it to heart. I know in the end of the day my opinion does not really matter, who cares if I dislike someone like Caro Wozniacki. I do not know her of the court and my opinion does not matter. I am sure the girl could give a Flying F...! So to the Serena and Justine fans, just chill out, get over yourself and go do something with you life, instead of spending all your days bitchin on a forum about things that don't really matter.

Good day to you all

Zero and Arnian, you are my two favorite Justine fans. Both of you are logical and fair in your posts, and I feel like I can have an adult conversation with either one of you. Too bad the rest of Justine's fans aren't as smart as you two are. :D

Anywho, we need to just let these two play. Let them play! Tennis is such a great sport in that everything is settled on the court. Plus this is the FIRST Grand Slam final in this rivalry; this is one element that their matches have been missing. They're 2-2 in finals if I'm not mistaken, but those were tour finals.

This thread will now be reopened.

Infractions and Bans are ready for anybody starting the fight again.. I believe most of the posters here have a mental age of over 10yo which should help you behave, if not, just stay out of this please.

Of course, any insult toward any of those two great champions will be punished too.

I was soo meant to be a 1st grade teacher

If you have any question about this, please PM me or someone else from the staff (I won't be around much over the weekend).

Oh and back on topic, nice words from both of them :yeah:
