I hope you can be the good luck thread opener Laura, and Lucie can finally have a big breakthrough win over a top player. I know she can do it!

LET'S GO LUCIE!!!!! She plays Tuesday.

I may be mistaken but I don't think that's the expression, Laura. :p I've always heard "Time to kick some ass." It doesn't matter. This thread will bring Lucie luck hopefully!

Doubles draw is out, and Lucie will be playing with Wozniak. First round against Baltacha/Dekmeijere is winnable, 2nd round against A.Radwanska/Kirilenko or Cirstea/Pavlyuchenkova is tougher, but not a bad draw to maybe make 3rd round.

So, Lucie vs Venus will be 4th on Hisense Arena...first is Verdasco, then Jankovic, then Tsonga, so it could take a loooong time :o at least we know she will play anyway, since it has a roof. Bring it now, Venus :armed: Lucie is waiting.

Yah, will be a long time. I'm thinking sometime around 2 am over here on the east coast.

I hope Lucie can pull it off. The one thing going for her is the lack of a preperation tourney for Venus. We all saw what happened to Sharapova yesterday. Hopefully, Safarova goes for broke but please dont turn into an error machine. :/

I won't get to see. :( Oh well. LET'S GO LUCIE!!!!!!!!! If her shoulder is alright she can definitely win this. She has the game.

Lucie is not playing well currently and Venus is. Lucie has missed a lot of shots where she could have got herself in a good position in the game. Instead, she is down 6-2 :ras: :o

She basically has to break here, or the momentum will be heavily in Venus' favour. (Long Venus service game to start the second set)

Davodus
Jan 19th, 2010, 07:36 AM
Well she broke, she played better in that game.

Horrible game of errors to back it up.

Lucie is wearing a very nice outfit but she plays bad :(
Boring match for the moment

Lucie is making so many errors, and her 1st serve is a very low % so far

Davodus

Venus is playing so well today. So many winners and huge hitting. We needed her to have an off day, but no such luck.

Yep she plays well today but i was hoping to see a lucie more aggressive, i mean she is playing against Venus on a huge court, she has nothing to lose so. I think that lucie watchs to much venus playing, after okay venus puts a lot of pressure but i don't know there is something in which i'm not happy in lucie's game today!

Davodus

She has made too many errors ealy in rallies anyway. Lucie is only gonna win 4 games :sobbing:

horrible :o

Yeah, this is a shame.

Venus just seemed dialed in and Lucie, her attitude out there was kind of off. Just slump-shouldered and kinda careless.

Oh well.

I had no hope and it just confirms what I felt unfortunately : she isn't ready at all for the fight against someone like Venus Williams. Simply a shit draw.

I've got in general always something nice to say when lucie lost, but today was an horrible match :( Hope she will play better for the doubles

Yeah, this is a shame.

Venus just seemed dialed in and Lucie, her attitude out there was kind of off. Just slump-shouldered and kinda careless.

Oh well.

Yep you right, i'm wondering where was lucie's fighting spirit today?? Not on court at any rate

I found an explanation, lucie forgot her game in Brisbane, so please David can you send it to her before her double match :p
A bit of humour never hurt :D

Yeah I'll take it down in a carry on bag when I fly to Melbourne on Thursday

No more thread-making for you Laura. :p

That's a shame about the scoreline. But Venus seemed to have played well. It was basically just a bad draw. Oh well. She did lose to a seven-time grand slam champion. Not the best way to begin the year. If she can be more consistent in the WTA events and has one good run at a slam she can get seeded and not worry about having to face someone like Venus in the first round.

I saw Lucie's doubles first round. She was about 10 times better than Wozniak who can be blamed mostly for the loss, she could not hit a volley in to save her life. Lucie is really nice too, a ball kid got smashed in his side by Dekmeijere who hit a forehand that got him, and Lucie walked up to check him, asked if he was okay and put her arm around him. Really nice of her :yeah: Photos when I upload them
