They should get to the 3rd round without much problems. I even believe when both are playing good they can beat Bluber.

Good luck Kuznarenka. :rocker2:

I think their draw is pretty tough but if they gel as a team they can definitely beat Black/Huber. Good luck ladies :)

Vika's singles draw is tricky but it could have been a lot worse. Czink in round 2 strikes me as a difficult one (not exactly Lena D v Henin though), I would think after that I think it will be Date and if she wins that then Ivanovic. Last time she played Ivanovic Vika destroyed her :D

Vika/Kuzy came close to beating Bluber in Tokyo or China near the end of last season, i think they lost narrowly in the 3rd set STB.

Hopefully Lena V will beat the winner of Date-Shvedova and she'l play Vika in R3 :p

me too because it would be an easier match for Vika :p

It's dangerous to think any match is easy for Vika at the moment after how much hard work she made of the 3 matches in Sydney she won :scared:

Did you watch her match against Date BTW there Mike? just wondered how she played that's all, from looking in control at 4-2 second set(and having points for 5-2) to struggling over the line in 3 sets if she got too passive or if it was Date just playing really well.

Igor_Biscan
Jan 17th, 2010, 03:26 PM
No I only watched the match she lost :( I guess you saw that one as well?

I saw some of Date on tv in New Zealand, she was playing pretty well but Vika should still have beaten her pretty comfortably.

Ah right. No there were no live streams for any of Vika's matches available other than the match against Dementieva, so we had to make do with the live scorecard for those first 3 epic matches.

I'd like to think with the days rest you get at a slam Vika should beat all those players before the 4th round comfortably, but she's had tight matches with all 3 of Date, Shvedova and Lena V in the past. I think she may still have been a tad rusty too in Sydney after how little tennis she played in HK (20 minutes on court :help:)

Break My Rapture
Jan 17th, 2010, 03:47 PM
Hopefully the long time on court in Sydney helped Vika getting rid of the remaining rustyness in her game:)

Hopefully the long time on court in Sydney helped Vika getting rid of the remaining rustyness in her game:)

I think so. I think three hard matches, followed by 4 days rest/practice is pretty good preparation. She seems very happy anyway :)

It seems to me she'll surely have to play 2 days in a row if the schedule stays like that and I don't think its the best for her either.

allrounder
Jan 19th, 2010, 12:45 AM
Well her first match should be nothing other than a routine straight sets win, so playing 2 days in a row at the beginning of the tournament isn't the worst thing in the world. It'd be much worse if it was later in the tournament

saul1333
Jan 19th, 2010, 12:53 AM

Glad you like it :) do you like Nintendo?

Yes, I don't play games much any more but I used to have a SNES and then an N64. Majora's Mask is a work of genius, I nearly failed an exam because of it. Everybody talks about ocarina of time and that's great too but MM is better.

Do you have a wii?

They made her boobies too droopy..but looks just like her

Did you have ALTTP for SNES? That game was amazing..:hearts: Majora is a very good game..so many sidequests and with Kishin Link at the end.. I would have to disagree..I think OOT is the best game ever made:p it is flawless, epic, great music, awesome story line..

Yeah, I have a Wii..TP is sooo bad :sobbing: Do you have Brawl?

Don't have a Wii  The only games I play at the moment are on my DS (football and mario kart), and civilisation on my computer

Yeah LTTP is great. I also like the old gameboy one (can't remember its name)

I think I felt more involved with MM than OOT. And I loved the design of the world. What was wrong with TP?

saul1333
Jan 19th, 2010, 03:36 AM
I was addicted to MK when it came out too..I love driving noobs crazy with the snaking  a good game for PC is Spore ;). The best for GB was Links Awakening. MM was very involving with the time thing and masks, and Termina was a great land..but the temples were not as fun as OOT.

RieKG7pw6g8

Look at the trailer for TP, Epic music, EPIC gameplay..I cried for weeks after seeing it. But when the game came out they tried to make it to gimmicky with the Wiimote and the story was terrible. I know it was the beta design, but we had such high hopes:sad: I still cant stop watching it

Link's awakening, that's the one. With the wind fish egg. It's better than the DS Zelda games.

I wonder if they've run out of ideas for these. Wind Waker on the gamecube was quite good but there wasn't that much new in the gameplay. Is there another one in the pipeline for Wii?

saul1333
Jan 19th, 2010, 04:06 AM
The DS games are not that good..again they got to gimicky with the touch screen. Minish Cap is also good for GBA..

I think that is the problem..they think they have run out of ideas so they try to reinvent the series when it is perfect. But the main problem is the use of the technology..if it was still using the controller it would be fine, but they want to include the new stuff. Wind Waker was fun..I thought it wouldnt be as fun with the cell shaded but it was great. They have announced a new one coming out this year..but they will try to use the motion sensors :o

hmmm.. it could be good. It's always good to try to innovate but they need to avoid it becoming gimmicky.

Is it worth getting a Wii, and what are the best games?

saul1333
Jan 19th, 2010, 04:42 AM
Honestly a Wii is a waste of money atm..I regret waiting in line for 24 hours :sobbing: I dont see many good games coming out because they are no longer catering to the hardcore gamers but to a young nooby crowd. All the games are too easy and family orientated  But the best game is Brawl only because the multi player. But it doesnt even come close to the greatness Melee was..

Igor_Biscan
Jan 19th, 2010, 05:08 AM
I didn't play brawl that much but the original SSB was great. At university we used to play goldeneye, mario kart 64 and later SSB all the time. I always used to play as donkey kong:worship:

saul1333
Jan 19th, 2010, 05:18 AM
Goldeneye was sooo fun, the multiplayer was great on that as well.. MK is always fun. Smashbros 64 was an addicting game, Captain Falcon was my man :yeah: Did you ever play Melee for gamecube? IMO it is the best multiplayer fighting game..waaaaaaay better than Marvel or Street Fighter..

Igor_Biscan
Jan 19th, 2010, 05:33 AM
FALCON PUNCH

Yeah I meant to say melee rather than brawl above. I played melee a bit but I'd moved away by then and no one I knew was really into videogames. Not enough to learn when to use the moves. What I like about the SSB games is that there's no dail-a-combo things, you have the basic moves and you have to combines them make your own strategies.

Anyway I have to go to work, talk to you later

saul1333
Jan 19th, 2010, 05:50 AM
Yeah the controls for the SSB games are simple and easy to master. Bye..always nice to talk nerd with somebody ;)

Alot of smashing balls into the back wall, kicking balls around, hands on her hips, and there was 1 good one. Long rally, and ALG makes a good volley, Vika throws racket hard on the ground, goes to the net and puts her arms and head on it for like 15 seconds.: It was masterful..

She did well to stay with Vera and in the end Vera couldn't keep up her very high standard and Vika cut down the errors and began hitting some great winners :hearts:

The forum went offline as well :o. Vika played good tennis and almost had the match in her grasp. The Aussie commentators claimed that Vika gave Serena some help and tightened up, but I disagree. Serena lifted her game to an incredible level, serving and returning amazingly. Vika did not choke, she fought bravely in the end of the 2nd set and the beginning of the 3rd, but towards the end it became clear that Serena's level was too high and that she was going to lose.

After Vika realised she could not win, her body began to show signs that she could feel the stress, dropping her racquet a couple of times and even having a little coughing fit- it was almost psychosomatic (her body showing outward signs of inward stress). But no one could blame her for that. I don't think anyone on the WTA could have matched Serena in that last hour.

The only thing is that Vika's serve does lack pop, she goes for very high percentage but without much pace. A bigger serve would have been very useful in finishing the match, but I think it is against her mindset to serve too hard, she likes to rally. Maybe she will improve the serve, who knows.

Credit to Vika for smiling at the end when she shook Serena's hand- she realised that she was beaten by some amazing play from Serena and acknowledged it. That was classy.

I'm sad with the result of the game. She played very well yesterday. But playing agains Serena you can't blink, she's the most dangerous player in WTA today.
But in some kind I'm happy. The way she played, always attacking, giving all balls the status of a "point ball". Playing agressive, that's good. But what really made happy was the fact that she was mentaly strong. She didn't freaked out against Serena and started her "show". When she freaks all the focus go away. It's good to see that this is changing. :D
IMO, if she keeps this way of play and this strong mentality, we'll be see her win a GS pretty soon. We'll still have 3 more in this year.

i hope vika isnt too disappointed:smooch: the way she played in the first set and up till 4-0 in the second was the best tennis ive ever seen from vika. just brilliant attacking play, great movement everything was working for ehr. her serve let her down after that, if she had a better serve this wouldve been a straight sets victory.lots of positive things to take from this tourney i think vikas gonna have a great year and hopefully easier draws at slams aswell:bounce:

I don't think there is anything critical we can say Will - I'm not sure Vika could have played the match any better than she did  The standard of her game in the first set and a half was just unbelievable  I've been really impressed with Vika from the matches i've seen of her this season so far though. Her movement, attitude and aggressive play all seem to have improved from last year. Now if only she could sort that dam first serve out  :banghead:

VIKA?

I think Anotinio said a while ago that Belarus is in the same group as Portugal, Denmark and Romania and the group will be played in Portugal.

Edit: i was wrong, the draw hasn't been made yet until the day before the tournament starts in early February.

This was her best loss ever. So many positive things to take from it. :yeah:

Her attitude both yesterday and the day before against Vera was great! Nothing like the second half of last year... and that is the reason she had one great win and one great loss.

If she can keep that up, she will be a bigger force throughout the year than she was last year.

Now, she has to focus on defending her big spring points. Memphis, Indian Wells, and Miami make up a huge portion of her points.

Hopefully her new coach realizes that she could have probably won this match with a better serve and finds a new approach to making it more aggressive.

This is the happiest that I have been with a Vika loss. :) She went out with style and I'm very proud of how well she played and acted yesterday. :yeah:

Keep working hard and you will have it all, Vika. :)

I'm really liking her attitude. Sam is doing a good job, IMO.

Well she's still only about 20 or something so she has lots of time to improve. she's talented and has a good future.

Austria tomorrow, probably v Bammer

And all bedlam has broken loose in the press centre. Why? Azarenka is doing a press conference, and insisted on bringing her dog. I think she’s trying to be Paris Hilton’s long lost sister.

There's a brief streaming video with Caro and Vika in Portugal here:
http://sporten.tv2.dk/video/index.php/nodeId-28261671.html

It's a very short sports report (in Danish) about the two friends lucky to not draw each other at the Fed Cup. They seem genuinely friendly, and are extremely cute - but we knew that :hearts:

Yeah, this one is prettier than the gray/pink one, if that is possible.:hearts:
And I have some problems with hoodies, that's for sure. I want all of them. Even if I can't use. :help:
