I read today in TenisKlub there was an idea that Maciejewska could change her nationality to Kazakhstan. However she's still not 18 and cannot do that. Possibly she'll do after she gets to that age. Reason: lack of sponsors in Poland

Her draw in ITF G3 in Benicarlo:

Zuzanna MACIEJEWSKA (POL) (1) Vs Marina MARGULIS (RUS)
Miriam ROSELL CANUDAS (ESP) Vs Diana STOMLEGA (ROU)
Aida MARTINEZ SANJUAN (ESP) Vs Rosalie VAN DER HOEK (NED)
Anna MONTSERRAT SANCHEZ (ESP) Vs Giorgia MARCHETTI (ITA) (8)

Kana DANIEL (JPN) (4) Vs Madara STRAUME (LAT)
Anastasiya SAITOVA (RUS) Vs Carla MOCETE TALAMANTES (ESP)
Tena LUKAS (CRO) Vs Ainhoa ZAMORA RUBIO (ESP)
Camille GIACALONE (FRA) Vs Deborah KERFS (BEL) (6)

Ksenija SHARIFOVA (RUS) (5) Vs ANNE SOPHIE FORGET (FRA)
Sophie BLOM (NED) Vs Sofia GARCIA MORALES (ESP)
Darya SHULZHANOK (BLR) Vs Lynn CHI (USA)
Marie BENOIT (BEL) Vs Paula MOCETE-TALAMANTES (ESP) (3)

Camilla ROSATELLO (ITA) (7) Vs Audrey CAPOUET (BEL)
Andjela NOVCIC (SRB) Vs Andrea RETOLAZA ANDRADE (ESP)
Patricia MARTINS (POR) Vs Sara SORRIBES TORMO (ESP)
Tatiana GUSKOVA (RUS) Vs Gabriela PANTUCKOVA (CZE) (2)

She's a top seed. :) But I think that most of the seeds could be difficult opponents. Fight to win, Zuzka! :)

And a fragment about Zuzanna in TenisKlub:

Przed podobnym dylematem stoi Zuzanna Maciejewska, jedna z najlepszych nastolatek w kraju.

Nasza najlepsza juniorka marzy o meczu z Radwańską

Twoi rówieśnicy mają teraz wakacje, a ty wciąż pracujesz.

Zuzanna Maciejewska, najlepsza polska juniorka: - Uwielbiam grać.

- Chyba zeszłoroczny ćwierćfinał Mistrzostw Europy do lat 16.

Twoimi idolami są Rafael Nadal i Maria Sharapova. O jakiej przeciwniczce marzysz? Z którą z tenisistek chciałabyś się zmierzyć?

- Zdecydowanie z Agnieszką Radwańską. Prawdopodobnie przegrałabym z kretesem, bo jeszcze mi do niej daleko.

From the ITF website:

In the girls’ singles final, 12th seeded left-hander Zuzanna Maciejewska beat local player and seventh seed Makoto Ninomiya 76 61 to become the first Polish female player to triumph here in Osaka, on the same courts which saw her fellow Pole Aleksandra Olsza finish runner-up in 1995.

World No. 84 Maciejewska fought through a tough first set but in the second her powerful and efficient shots began to penetrate with greater intensity, never letting Ninomiya back into the match.

“I played a great tournament here and I still can’t believe it,” said the Pole “Ninomiya played a really good match but my serve today was great. The first set I was so nervous but I was able to get it as well as all the tie-breaks in this tournament. The second was easier for me. I was a little bit more lucky and I tried to play aggressive. This tournament in Osaka is really perfect, I hope to come back here next year.

“Today Maciejewska’s serve was very fast, so I did not make a good match from the starting games,” said Ninomiya. “In the first set I was leading 4-3 and I could not hold my serve. It was my big regret today. I want to make my serve more aggressive in the future.”

Zuza suffers from knee injury. That's why she retired at second tournament in Japan. Hopefully she's healthy for Eddie Herr and Orange Bowl. She will probably play doubles too there (if healthy) with Paulina Lewandowska (who suffers from knee injury as well).

Hopefully she doesn't harm herself in America as the surface for Florida tournaments will be played on green clay this year which could cause an injury for players who don't know the surface.

Trains in Sobota, goes to Melbourne

Zuzanna Maciejewska (AZS Poznań tennis club) as the only junior player from Poland will play Australian Open junior competition. She's ranked 18 in ITF juniors' ranking.

"Appearance in Melbourne is one of my sport dreams. I prepared in courts in Sobota to this tournament as the surface is very similar to the Australian one".

The Pole will have a long flight with two stopovers. Before the Australian Open she'll play in a warm-up tournament. Zuzanna's biggest success was winning the Grade A tournament in Osaka. Thanks to that win she advanced to top30 juniors' ranking.

On December she also played in USA in Eddie Herr where she made the quarterfinal and the doubles final.

Zuzanna Maciejewska will turn 17 y.o on 19th January and already impresses with her physical conditions - 188 cm height (6'2"). She has a versatile game and strong serve (165 km/h) and strong mentality.

Zuzanna Maciejewska dla SportowyPoznan.pl

Zuzanna Maciejewska zakończyła już swój występ w juniorskim Australian Open. 17-letnia tenisistka AZS Poznań prosto z Australii skomentowała dla portalu SportowyPoznan.pl swoją postawę w debiucie w turnieju Wielkiego Szlema.

Maciejewska (18. juniorka na świecie) w I rundzie singla niespodziewanie przegrała z Rumunką Eleną-Theodorą Cadar (76.) 5:7, 6:0, 5:7. Rozstawiona z numerem jedenastym jedyna Polka wśród juniorek popełniła aż 16 podwójnych błędów serwisowych. Gdy w drugim secie nie popełniła ani jednego, to rozbiła swoją rywalkę 6:0 w 24 minuty.

- Szkoda i pierwszego i ostatniego seta. Chwila nieuwagi i mecz "odjeżdża" - opisuje Maciejewska.

Wcześniej pokonały japoński duet Mami Adachi i Miho Kowase 4:6, 6:2, 10-3.

But I still believe that Zuzanna has a lot of potential. She was near to beat Svitolina in Wimbledon (she led by something like 7-6 4-2), and when she's on, she's terrific. Hopefully some better results will come soon :)

Yes, I'll think she'll need time to grow into her body but at 6-3 and being a lefty with a lot of talent, I can't see her not making an impact in the game if she can stay healthy.

Yes, it wasn't very good... In Mildura especially, she could have done a little better, I think. She doesn't play the next two Australian ITF's (both 10k), so maybe she's back to Europe now :)

It's Klaudia Jans-Ignacik, with Santiago Gonzalez :) They reached the mixed doubles final at the French Open last year, and the original picture comes from there.

okay thanks I would really love too see her do well & ending season on a good note, It be nice if she can end year rank around 300-400

Jerem
Oct 8th, 2013, 09:45 PM
That's very unlikely. She is currently #616 and it seems she won't play any tournament before late October or even November. By that time, she will be able to play only some 10k's or 25k's at best, and so far she has never got consistent enough results to climb the rankings that fast.

If she does well, I think she can reach the top 500 by the end of the year but not more (unless she does VERY well, and I hope so too!).

Trey
Oct 9th, 2013, 02:53 AM
I so sorry I thought she was rank around 400 my bad but yeah top 500 would be good ended ranking for season, I seen a couple video on youtube with her playing and follow her junior result she seem very talented but like you said she need too get more consistent I hope that time will come soon as well

I don't think so, it's probably more something like a lack of funds.
She has launched a website earlier this year: http://zuzamaciejewska.pl/, where she speaks essentially about tennis. That being said, there has been no news since mid-July.

She had her final exams at high school earlier this year (Matura), I think she may have failed mathematics, but I am not sure. Btw, she should change her coach, this one is doing nothing with her...
