Hi everyone,
This is my first blog on my newest blog page, the VaidiBlog! I know, the name isn't the best, and I'll fix it at some point, but it works for right now. I'm currently the number 9 player in the world in my tour debut last year, and I was really happy to get to the finals of Wimbledon and come so close to winning my first Grand Slam. I've really been preparing hard for the Australian and French Opens because my best chances are there because my game matches up so well. I've been at Bolletieri's training hard, as you can see from the picture I posted. I really feel like I need to be careful not to have a sophomore slump and have worse results than I had last year, which can happen to a lot of players who aren't used to defending points. My coach knows about players with sophomore slumps as he coached Jennifer Capriati who was playing so well one year and got into the top 8, and then fell off the map the next year, so he's really concerned about just maintaining a good level to start out and building on that form.
In the off-season, I've come to appreciate all of the girls a lot more, because it's been weird not seeing them in competition. I especially like to see Misa Krajicek at tournaments, because she's always so friendly. She just needs to develop more self-confidence, as clearly her results back up her ranking now. If I ever had to pick a rival, and this is kind of strange, I'd pick Maria Kirilenko. She's a girl who causes a lot of conversations about her and her behavior off court and is the regular tour diva. I don't know, but something about her whole package seems to really bother me. I won't let it affect me too much though, I'll be nice to her still. I have no reason to really be aggressive towards her yet.
Anyway, even though the tennis is going good, I noticed that I'm really lonely going back to my apartment in Sydney, where I'm staying during the Australian season. I'd love to eventually find a guy who won't treat me like an accessory like that Radek....ugh...disgusting man.
Lots of love,
Nicole
