Kim hitting the nail on the head about Flavia's serve:

KIM CLIJSTERS: Yeah, it is. Again, it comes down to reading your opponents. I think sometimes -- you know, she definitely has a very good, nice looking, I think, service motion. And obviously when you play girls like Dementieva or other girls who don't have that consistency in their serve and in their ball toss, it's a little bit easier to read their serve.
But I think, you know, Pennetta has a consistent serve. She maybe is not the hardest hitter out there, but she places it really well. Obviously that's something that I've learned over the years, too, that placement is by far the best weapon on your serve.

So true, about the motion and the placements:hearts::worship:

And  @ "Dementieva and other girls"

Anyway I think it's not bad to be seeded now between 17 and 20. She can face Li, Radwanska, Zvonareva.. rather than people like Kuznetsova, Wickmayer, Sharapova.. and eventually not face a Top4 in last sixteen.

Zamboni
Aug 16th, 2010, 04:33 PM
I think seeding isn't tht important anyway.
Like my dad always says: if you want to be the champion, you have to beat everyone ;)

(btw, don't forget if she goes to the QF or beyond here, it will replace her 125 points from Doha, not her 200 from Linz)

She said that the injury didn't affect the match, that however she played good and she is not too much sad cause she has been defeated by a great player. She said that she lost many energy in the first 2 sets, and in the third she was tired, while Caroline was better than her, that tried to rest in the match and fight in the third but didn't succeed.

I think she will never succeed in defeating her so..

Argentina's Gisela Dulko and Flavia Pennetta of Italy, the No.2 seeds, captured the doubles title at the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank, defeating Czech Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovakia at the l'le-des-Sœurs indoor tennis club, 7-5, 3-6, 12-10 in an extremely exciting match Sunday.

Due to uncooperative weather, organizers were forced to move the doubles semifinals and finals indoors.

Earlier in the day, Dulko and Pennetta eliminated Romania's Monica Niculescu and Shahar Peer of Israel in the semifinals, while Srebotnik and Peschke qualified for the finals with a win over Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues and China's Zi Yan.

It was the first Rogers Cup title for Dulko and Pennetta, worthy of a cheque for $100,000.

"I'm very happy that we won this match", said Dulko. "It was a tough match. They had match point. As you can see from the score, it was really tight. I'm so happy to win another tournament with Flavia. It's unbelievable. We surprise ourselves every week."

Good win, but oh next round v Caro. I'd love Flavia to beat Caro, and just keep attacking her. No sitting back as Caro has no attack, she just lobs and pushes. Only way to beat her is keep attacking, go to net at every chance!! An attacking strategy will beat Caro imo

talking about Caro she's been a bit bitching saying she's like Jankovic and Safina (a journay woman who plays solid but has never won a GS) and she went on saying USO will be won by Kim.
then she was asked about how much she was shoked about the news that Moya is going to have a baby and she said she doesn't care and that she was more shoked he posed naked for a commercial

She has sesamoid inflammation. I had it last year and it didn't go away too easily. It's annoying cause when you load all the body weight on this point of the foot, or you change the direction of the run, you feel a bit of pain. Anyway you feel less pain when you are playing then when you are not. She can play the same, taking painkillers and hoping that with some laser it will go away. But it's a boring injury :o

Great, Pennetta.

Peer d. Pennetta 6-4, 6-4

Flavia was losing the second set (4-0), started to play well, broke Peer 2 times and made 4-4, then she did. DF when was deuce, giving the MP for Peer. After that Pennetta made an UE and I heard "game, set and match for Shahar Peer".

do you think we have to face the reality and see that she will focus her carreer on doubles while slowly crumbling down in single ranking as it happened to a lot of good players before?
at the moment she's the best 20-30 and it's the place she deserves after this season....in fall she has few points to defend but i don't see her getting back to top 10 next year unless she wins the AO

I think we shouldn't even be dreaming of top10 and stop complaining and just cherish what we got.

Flavia is a very decent player, who's having a tough year (especially compared to last year it's been pretty mediocre, except for RG and the US Open series) and may have slipped on the rankings a bit, but it's not like she's tumbled down on it. I can see her more or less maintain this ranking for a while, and I don't think that's bad.
On top of that, she has become on of the best doubles players of the world this year, something I don't think anyone really saw coming. I do think it's partly to blame for some of her singles results, but it's an amazing (and quite unexpected) thing in itself, that she deserves respect for, not ridicule.

I don't dream about top10 or GS.
it's impossible... and it will be good if she is in top20 at the end of the year.

doubles. yeah. good results. but who cares about it except Flaselа?! it's not enough for me :tape:

I care.
Because it's always good to be good at something. And because I love doubles. And because it's obvious Flavia cares and enjoys it.

i remember till 2/3 years ago i was the first one who said flavia wasn't top10 material and she surprised me  flavia is a good player,a hard worker who did her best with her talent and did take advantage of a weak era of wta but we fans pretend more more and more  but you can't become a champion in one day :o i also think flavia will focus more on doubles (i blame this for her singles results :smash:) and have some good runs here and there in singles but nothing more  if she wants to become a doubles specialist good for her ,of course i will still support her but not in the same way :awww:
plus the age doesn't help!don't compare her with fran because she's so fit and her body is a rock :worship:

So horrible, so terrible Dulkopen!!!
I don't know how they are yet at n.1...if they play against mediocre players ok, but if they meet people able not to do millions of unforced errors, they don't know what to do

and also, even if I'm a great supporter of Flavietta (), I have to say that she is so frustrated this year!! No one time she was able to react with spirit and new motivation when a match went on a bad way...no one time she is angry and begins to play with new energies...she is 'tabula rasa'

Flavia had to change Urpi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Q. One thing it's difficult to understand is why you have lost sometimes to Pennetta and never to Schiavone when everyone thinks that Schiavone is stronger.
VENUS WILLIAMS: I have had some bad days against Pennetta, basically. So I guess I always have a good day against Schiavone. I'm gonna try to have a good day against Pennetta in the Fed Cup.

What a stupid question. It's not like you can compare Flavia's game to Francesca's  They play completely different, and obviously Venus simply has less problems with Fran's game than with Flavia's.
If she wants to think she only lost to Flavia 4 times (3 times in a row) because of bad days, bless her:hug:
