View Full Version : No wonder WTA Doubles gets no recognition!!!

On the WTA site they are doing these "Something Completely Different..." where they ask player questions not noirmally asked...

Who is your favorite men's player?
Cara Black: "Rafael Nadal."
Liezel Huber: "Andy Murray."

Do you play video games?
Cara Black: "I don't play video games."
Liezel Huber: "NO!"

My problem is that they both don't give anything in their answers... THEY constantly complain about not being recognised for what they have done... well maybe if they were a bit more fan-friendly then maybe more people would...
And this shows badly on the whole WTA Doubles competition... as they are the Number 1's...

BTW and even those who said no (to the second question) elaborated a little:
Vera Zvonareva: "Not really. I used to play Super Mario and Tetris on Gameboy. I would play Tetris for such a long time..."
Michaella Krajicek: "No, not at all. The only game I used to play was Super Mario on Gameboy."
Elena Dementieva: "I don't play video games. My brother is a big fan of them though. I could never understand his passion for them!"

:spit: Who cares. Some people prefer short and simple answers.

I care... as i am a huge fan of doubles and its these "short and simple" answers that create an untrue and damaging image of doubles players on the WTA tour

Cara and Leizel are the epitome of boring and IMO as long as they are world #1's, the game of doubles will suffer.

They (especially Leizel) have no communication skills, charisma and they just appear cold and boring towards their fans - especially in promotional things like what you just showed.

I think the more casual fans that see Serena/Venus or Stosur/Stubbs videos (i.e. Beijing Ping Pong) rather thand the one word answers that Leizel provides :p will increase the popularity of doubles.

I doubt it will ever be as popular as singles, but surely it can do better than where it is now :sobbing:

yeah agreed....they are just awful...both to watch and listen to. They bring nothing exciting to the discipline at all!

That's one interview. They were likely asked those questions at the same time together so obviously they have to keep it short to let the other one say something too, unlike the others you quoted.

I guarantee you Liezel Huber has no problem with communication skills or lack of charisma, just read any of her blogs. You're going to use this one thing to come to the conclusion they are bad for doubles. Never mind the ACTUAL tennis, or that they are the best fighters on the tour and always always give 100% out there. No, the answer to a question for the WTA site that most people will not see is much more important.

My problem is that nobody here ever makes a comment or reply when positive things are said about Cara and Liezel. And also that they don't really give a shit about them and clearly don't read their blogs or know anything about them. Yet when the smallest thing like this comes up they never run out of things to say. It's being negative for the sake of being negative and it's sooo boring.

And yet, you were cheering for them during YEC, so WS wouldn't get #1. Your pathetic hate is that strong? Anyways, nice to see you took that hater's list out, enough people acted your hypocrisy?

Does your whole life revolve around starting a fight with me :wierdo: Youre the most pathetic on this board...so I suggest you crawl back to your hidey-hole and SHUT UP! :o

you her man??

Anyway it seem a bit silly to complain bout somethin as trivial as one word answers... Plus you don't know the tone of the answer. I gets the feeling Liezel maybe thought it funny to be asked whether she play video games hence the dramatic "no!"
well as a casual doubles fan myself these answers don't change my opinion on it /them and i dont see why they should

now this here i disagree with. You dont see uranium in thread after thread bashing a player no matter what they done.

If u truly believes what you says you ought to take a good, hard look at ya self!

Btw this is the most retarded conclusion you could ever make :weirdo:

And The Kaz, all you do is go around trying to find ways to hate Liezel and its getting very pathetic.

no one plays attention to doubles because the #1 players, Cara and Huber are both ugly. When Hingis and Kournikova were #1, doubles was at its prime. Cara Black looks like Nicole Pratt sometimes. :tape:
