Some players will play tournament this week, how can they play the AO qualifying matches?

A player is allowed to play in two tournaments (ITF Women’s Circuit, WTA Tour or Grand Slam) during the Qualifying Week and First Week of Grand Slams.
So, (as long they will lose in Hobart/Sydney before the AO qualifying starts) they can play both.

Such a shame about Jones, she'd been playing so well lately:(!

Hope Stevenson can make the QD!!

With Asian WC she'll most likely be 2 out. If the last WC goes to Ferguson or Groth, then she's one out... I'm nervous.

Jan 10th, 2010, 09:23 PM
for Alexandra and Riske, for example, I accnot help but think it is a massive 'risk'-pardon the pun- to fly all the way to Asutralia and potentially not even get into the QD (having not played a lead up event or doubles) I guess it is something players have to do all the time- but australia is so far. To be fully prepared, players form the states or europe would have to leave today (so Sunday, monday in Aust) to get here and deal with jet jag and heat (44 degrees c today in Melb!) withouty knwoing fio they'll be in the draw.
I remember Shennay Perry watching Car Gullickson last year at the qualies- she was the next player in I think.....long flight to watch you friend play!
Anyways, for me, I hope Laex gets in and gets to the MD so I can see her annd Sammy S heat things up :)

Has she confirmed it? If she is in Australia she should still wait and hope until the draw is released. She shouldn't withdraw herself. Plus she should find a partner and play doubles qualies, it's still some points, practice and money, better than nothing!
