Hey guys, I was just reflecting on the 2009 season of doubles and realized that after the YEC final, 10 years of doubles has been reached. I thought about doing 2009 superlative awards but figured that as many great teams and matches we've had over the decade, it would be fun to reflect and remind each other of some great moments on the doubles tour. Categories include:

Favorite Team: Your personal favorite team.
Best Team: May not be your favorite team, but you have to give them props.
Worst Team: Teams that just didn't work for you.
Best Match: Matches that you will never forget do to the high quality.
Worst Match: Matches that were just painful to watch, on both ends.
Fresh Faces: Teams that paired up/are newly paired up, that you want to see more from.
Best Comeback: Comebacks that left you in awe.
Biggest Choke: Matches that were handed to a team on a silver platter that they refused to take.
Best Celebration: Best celebration after winning a match/title.
Most Versatile Player: Player who seems to play great doubles, no matter who their partner may be.
Doubles MVP: Individual best player of the last decade.

I hope you guys can take the time to participate and share some good memories, enjoy!

Favorite Team: Raymond/Stubbs (I love Venus and Serena just as much!)
Best Team: Ruano Pascual/Suarez
Worst Team: Peschke/Stubbs (As much as I love them both, the dynamic just didn't work for me.)
Best Match: 2003 Aussie Open QF: Ruano Pascual/Suarez vs Martinez/Petrova (Down 2-6 3-5 and played some unbelieveable doubles.)
Worst Match: 2008 Aussie Open QF Yan/Zheng vs Williams/Williams
Fresh Faces: Shaughnessy/Petrova
Best Comeback: 2009 Aussie Open QF Black/Huber vs Hantuchova/Sugiyama (That match still gives me chills. Saved 8 match points I think it was, and the way they were saved was just spectacular.)
Biggest Choke: 2005 YEC Final Black/Stubbs vs Raymond/Stosur (Up a set and 5-2 then just lost it.)
Best Celebration: 2006 French Open Final Raymond/Stosur vs Hantuchova/Sugiyama(Lisa completed the career slam, was just such a sweet moment for her.)

Favorite Team: Venus and Serena, but of the regulars I loved Petrova/Shaughnessy and Raymond/Stosur.
Best Team: Venus/Serena
Worst Team: Davenport/Huber.
Best Match: Hantuyama def. Bluber at Aussie Open this year, absolutely amazing from Ai:worship:
Worst Match: I'll get back to you on this one.
Fresh Faces: Santangelo/Molik and Srebotnik/Petrova.
Best Comeback: Once again the Aussie Open QF:worship:
Biggest Choke: Huber/Mattek def. Benesova/Peschke:tape: They were on fire, and then match point came and quickly their fire went out:o
Best Celebration: Personally, Venus and Serena both times they won the Gold Medal.
Most Versatile Player: Tough between Lisa and Cara.
Doubles MVP: Virginia Ruano Pascual, she has won a slam every year from 2001-2009 except 2006 and 2007:worship: Or Lisa since she has won at all 4 slams which Virginia hasn't done.

Favorite Team: Davenport/Raymond, and Raymond/Stubbs, Black/Huber of the regular teams.
Best Team: Ruano-Pascual/Suarez. (Williams/Williams on level of play would be up there too).
Worst Team: Of the regular teams, I never really got a good feeling about Navratilova/Raymond though they still had alright results.
Best Match: 2000 Australian Final, 2003 Wimby SF (Clijsters/Sugiyama vs Davenport/Raymond). For me personally, Black/Huber vs Llagostera/Martinez Wimby 2009 was the best live tennis experience I've had.
Worst Match: 2009 Australian Medina/Ruano vs Hsieh/Peng. :o
Fresh Faces: Davenport/Huber, Huber/Peschke and Raymond/V Williams. :hearts:
Best Comeback: 2008 Australian QF, 2005 YEC Final.
Biggest Choke: 2006 Australian Final, 2009 Fed Cup USA/CZE.
Best Celebration: 2007 YEC Final, 2008 US Open Final, 2000 Australian Final.
Most Versatile Player: Lisa Raymond. Dominated the tour with multiple partners. :worship: Virginia Ruano-Pascual has also proven great versatilty in reaching the elite with Medina and Martinez (after Suarez).
Doubles MVP: Raymond, Ruano-Pascual and Black are the top 3 doubles players of this decade, but I have to give the no.1 to Black. Only player to play in EVERY YEC. Most Year-End No.1's (4 of the last 5!). In this half-decade alone she's only twice failed to make the QF's of every slam played. Numerous titles, incredibly consistent and has pretty much been the single most dominant force in doubles these past 5 years.

btw, another great thread Njay16 :worship:
