And if Ame not continue then Alicia and Sveta together was already a great team!

I, personally, think that Cara Black is the stronger player in the Black/Huber combo.

First, they definitely keep on playing together next year.
I think they will probably be disappointed with this year, no matter what happens at the YEC. And knowing how competitive they are, they will come back next year with the will to improve. To me, there is no stronger player in the team. Let's say that before, in 2005 and in 2007, Cara was the strong link, but till then, IMO, Liezel has made lots of efforts to physically be even more competitive. Her coach Roger helped a lot. Now, they are as good, but still need to adjust with their strengths. When you have been at the top for years, it's not surprising to have a year during which you are not as successful. They've had difficult moments, could go through it, but were definitely not as dominating. Too bad it is the exact year the Williamses play all the slams. Their strengthboth on and off court is communication. For sure, they'll talk together about it all and decide new game plans. Can't wait to see what the results will be next year! Very happy I'll follow their 4 first tournaments live :bounce:

Well they both balance each other out very well but I think that Liezel is the more solid of the two. If Cara is low on confidence her game can really shrivel, ala Aussie Open QF this year. There were some key moments and shots in that match where she had brain cramps and she missed some shots she would make in her sleep.

And on the wta website interview with Stosur and Stubbs they both said they have partners lined up for the beginning of the year. I wonder who they are..

Also Alicia with one of Sam/Stubbs would be great. I hope Sam will play doubles with a good partner again. And i hope Raymond will play next vear too. Is Peschke retired or has she a new partner or is Raymond/Peschke still a team? I hope all players (Virgine, Stubbs,...) will stil play in 2010. At least I hope we will have more livestreams for doubles in 2010 than this year.

They only need to win 2 in a row for a "Serenus Slam" :p

I don't know if they're gonna play all 4 though next year. I know Serena has been saying she wants to play a lot more doubles, I just wonder if Venus is going to play less and exert more energy into winning the two singles slams she has yet to win?

I think they'll play Wimbledon again for sure, but as for the other 3...

"Pains were present even after the US Open, but I said to myself that this should not impede me, it really would not be good if i'd 'sit on the bench' the whole year. After bad first half of the year, I can even be satisfied with the ending, because i saw that i can play well with pain. I've come pretty far on two tournaments, practicaly without practice and completely without condition, and that is why i don't look blackminded to the next season."

One of the most important novelty is undoubtedly working with the new professionals.
Two new coaches : Jens Gerlach from Germany (from 2002 - 2006 coach of Myskina), Beni Lindl will be taking care of condition preparness (already worked with Federer and Warwinka).
New doubles partner will be Kveta Peschke.

"I think that my leaveing to Switzerland on the Swiss Tennis Academy is the right move. After some time it is good to switch someplace else, there will be many other players that somehow pull you with them. Even before the tournament in the US I have seen, how they train there, I can say that everything is subordinate to tennis and that working conditions are excellent. Otherwise i won't train there with Kveta, because my priorites still remains singles, and with the talent that i have we'll play on tournaments without any major problems, so there won't be any special preparness for my doubles."

"I choosed 'premier' tournaments, where I will try to do as much as possible in order to possibly going back to my old ranking. After Roland Garros I will see how to proceed. I've got 4 tournaments on hard court and 4 on sand in my plans, otherwise it's draging me on bigger tournaments. The problem is that i won't be seeded but I look on this on the bright side. If i had so many bad luck with the injuries this year, then i must have some good luck at the draw in the next season."

Katarina also added that this year she rather not choosed shoulder surgery, because there were too many different opinions, aswell as no one dared to make sure that surgery pain would go away.
And last the least - she choosed 8 tournaments which she will play on with the froozen ranking. Firstly she'll play Fed cup, then indoors in Paris, followed by Dubai, Indian Wells and Miami. She may change her mind about the last two and change them with Bogota and Acapulco, most definetly the peak will be Roland Garros which will be the only Grand Slam for Katarina.

I found a short interview given by Lisa Raymond. She really didn't want to admit who her partner was which I find sort of strange.

Lisa, are you still playing with Kveta Pesche?

Lisa: No. It's uh…we probably are pretty much finished. She's been injured for the past two months and it's been tough.

You've had it rough. You're like Florence Nightingale with all of your doubles partners.

Lisa: Really, right? Throughout my history. Maybe it’s me. I'll play with different partners in the fall, suss it out. Then kinda put 2009 behind me and look to 2010.

Do you want to take this moment to say, this player I have my eye on and I think I can maybe do something with them?

Lisa: (smiles) Um, there's [someone] I'm pretty sure I'm going to play with. (hemming over saying her name)

Lisa: (finally...) Yeah, I can't say who. But she's a very good singles player. Kinda been doing very well recently

This was given after the USO. Any ideas?

Lisa and Kveta were quite good together, pity their partnership ended the way it did with Kveta injuring herself. They were real contenders at RG after their great clay season:(

Pennetta could be good too, but Lisa needs someone who will compliment her game, Kveta didn't really do that IMO.

Yeah and she's won a tournament since then. Lisa was fine at Wimbledon when I saw her play. Can't really say it's her last wind based on one tournament, especially not the US Open when she was playing with Perry for the very first time. Lisa was ranked no.3 as recently as May, I think she's still got a long career at the top ahead of her if she keeps playing.

Oh Dear God, I hope not.

Did you see her play?

Venus did :p

I really can't imagine who it is. Lisa said she's very good in singles which implies to me it's someone who hasn't done that much in doubles (which rules out Petrova, Stosur..)

^Venus did when Caro and her fans were bearable. It's not Lisa's last wind, she'll retire when she wins AO Mixed if she doesn't win it this year. If by some miracle she wins it this year, I can see her confidence rise and play for more years to come:inlove:
I think you're reading too much into that part. The only players I see her teaming with that are singles players are Franny, Flavia and Sam. All of which have done well in singles this year.

She was scrambling for a partner and Shenay was last minute. She is a good player who has variety but han't played much lately. Lisa played well at the beginning of the year and to end it.

I am thinking it could be Petrova now  I remember Petrova/Srebotnik were suposed to play in 2009 but it feel through. Maybe they just did a trade off. Petrova/Raymond would compliment each other so well. But Lisa said she has had good results lately, and Petrova wasn't playing so hot at the time of this interview.

So she didn't hold serve once in a 5-7 6-4 6-3 match? 6-4 6-3 doesn't seem comfortably. But I didn't see it, so I can't argue against you. I saw Lisa's mixed QF and she was pretty good. Even though Matkowski tried to take over the court when he SUCKS, Lisa dump him before you look for a new doubles partner, you NEED a new Mixed Partner.

I like and respect CooCooCachoo alot so I am hardly going to call him a loser, but you are right in your main points.

When Ipek started playing with Yaroslava Shvedova this spring in Rome, her doubles ranking was 91. Her career high was 84. Since then due almost entirely to the success she has achieved paired with Yari, Ipek has risen in the doubles rankings to 54. Unfortunately, the pairing didn't do much to further Yari's own doubles career. When Yari paired with Ipek at Rome she was ranked 45. They had a very successful 1st tournament there, so successful that Yari decided to form a partnership with Ipek a bit later. When Yari got back together with Ipek in her ranking was 37. However since then while the partnership has certainly done wonders to improve Ipek's ranking to it's current career high of 53 it hasn't been nearly as beneficial to Yari. Her ranking has dropped from 37 when she started working with Ipek fulltime to a current level of 49, not only lower than what it was when Yari played her 1st tournament with Ipek this year in Rome but lower than the 41 ranking she finished last year with.

Dekmeijere is currently ranked 68 in doubles. Her career high achieved a few weeks ago was 64. She is 4 years young than Senoglu but has spent substantially more time ranked in the top 100 in doubles. Prior to Ipek's time with Yari, Liga's doubles career had been substantially better than Ipek's. In short, Ipek was lucky to have a partner as good as Yari and wouldn't be ranked where she is otherwise. Liga is probably still a better doubles player than Ipek, albeit not nearly to the same degree that Yari was and she would seem to me to be an appropiate player for Ipek to continue her career with.

Personally I'm more concerned about Yari's choice to play doubles with Szavay. Agnes has won back to back doubles matches only once in the last 16 months and is currently ranked a lowly 91 in doubles. That said, Agnes did once achieve a doubles ranking of 22 so if she is able to reverse her downward spiral and take the doubles game somewhat seriously it might still work out ok.

Last year she got to the finals of Paris Indoors, Miami, Ponte Vedra Beach, Madrid, and Osaka. All 4 finals she lost were extremely competitive. Up until the FO she was the number 2 team in the world with Peschke. And in 2008 Her and Sam got to the finals of both the USO and Wimbledon and the tier 1 Tokyo event. Even playing half of the year, they narrowly missed qualifying for the YEC. She may be past her "prime" but she is still the best of the best when it comes to Doubles.

Fine, you are a bigger fan than me. ;)

Look, I have been watching Lisa play live since 1998. Of course she's fantastic and I wish her the best, but she's past her prime. This is not a diss, truly. I have seen her serve and volley on clay with a consistency (like every point), speed, accuracy and coordination that she could not match today. She's smarter now probably, but physically she's not at her best. Regardless, I will be cheering for her. (And Stubbs.... maybe .)

Not sure yet. Somewhere in Europe. I'll have to see what their schedule is going to be like. I really miss seeing those two playing together, and who knows how long they will keep at it, so I better find a way to see them again. :D

Sure, nothing wrong with you guys posting in it. :) It's just a different type of thread from what we had. ;) Actually, the old thread was quite active, but it got closed because it had more than 5000 posts in it, and we never started to post in the new thread. So yeah, Lisa forum kind of died and eventually got deleted. :(

I guess not everyone 'gets' tennis like we do ;). Probably we are too old for this forum.

Do tell, what are your plans for the year? Your should come to RG! ....or maybe EB. Madrid? ;)
Lol. We are certainly too old for this place.

I'll think about RG. :D It's a 'no' for EB. Madrid I would like to do, but didn't Ren say that she will never play in Madrid again. ;) You guys were mean to her. :p

Source please

Yes, it's in Chinese :p The website is Sina, which is one of the biggest news websites in China, so I would say it's quite reliable.

Basically, after Zi was dumped by Jie, she sent out emails to various players and she got a favorable response from Bethanie :p The article also describes how Bethanie owns Zi in doubles :spit: including that 61 61 drubbing of Zi and Jie by Bethanie and Raquel in the final of Warsaw last year.

ALG needs a good Double Partner for 2010
Schnyder and King are not that suitable:tape:

I guess ALG will play with King at the AO as Schnyder isn't there. I would suggest for her to play with Lisicki or Petkovic or Paszek or even Vögele (the last two being my fav's...)
