Off-season will have to wait another week as Bine has accepted WC entry for Bali tournament! :bounce:

I know she was terribly upset about the way she lost Luxembourg and maybe ticket to Bali.
Now she has a chance to erase those bad feelings and end the season on a high note. :)

Show those girls what a PREMIERE event winner can do! :worship:

Does WTA help out with travel cost?
Quick search yielded cheapest round trip ticket from USA to Bali is $4,000.

Sabine Lisicki (#25)
Germany's Lisicki had a breakthrough season winning her maiden Tour title at the Family Circle Cup (Charleston), defeating three Top 10 players en route to the trophy (Venus Williams, Marion Bartoli and Caroline Wozniacki). After Charleston, Lisicki's ranking surged from No.63 to No.43, then a career high. In addition, Lisicki enjoyed two wins during Germany's triumph over China in Fed Cup and had her best performance at a Grand Slam by reaching the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, defeating Svetlana Kuznetsova and Caroline Wozniacki but falling to top seed Dinara Safina. Lisicki made her career Top 30 debut on July 6, 2009 and currently has a career-high ranking of world No.25.

Quite good draw for Sabine!
She just won against Rezai at the US Open and since then Aravane had pretty weak results, I think Sabine will win against her!
Czink was in pretty good shape this year, h2h against her is 1-1, last match Sabine lost, but on a good day Sabine should be really able to beat her...:)

Rezai def Lisicki 16 63 64 :o
Pathetic performance from Sabine, who wasted too many Bps (3/14) :weirdo:
Well see how she plays against Czink, I really hope that she isnt too tired again now...

3 set loss against Rezai.

So the tournament is nearly over for her.

Hugh.
Nov 4th, 2009, 07:13 AM
Terrible :o

It's going to be tough now for Sabine to qualify for the semis, Czink needs to beat Rezai in straights and then Sabine would need to beat Czink in straights to be sure that Sabine qualifies.

mk27
Nov 4th, 2009, 07:16 AM
And it was another 3rd set loss, she is now 5:10 in 3rd set matches 2009. Horrible statistic.

Michael!
Nov 4th, 2009, 09:07 AM
Czink vs. Rezai will be played tomorrow, if Czink wins (2-0 or 2-1), Sabine has to win her match 2-0 against Czink to reach the SF!
If Rezai wins she is through and Sabine and Czink only will fight for the 2nd place and a few more pts/money!

Was a typical Sabine match, she is just too inconsistent these days!
Great first set and then in 2nd set her return was so weak, wasnt even her serve, Rezai only was able to break once, that can happen, but Sabine only had one BP at 3-5* and, not a surprise, couldnt use it!

In the 3rd set she jus wasted too many chances, she came back from *0-2 to *2-2, just to lose serve again :o
After that she had may BPs, was better player, but she wasnt able to break.
3rd problem (beside head and her inconstancy) is her fitness, if she can improve here she will have a great future, but some players will never be able to show consistent tennis and then it will be difficult for her to achieve her goal (top 10)

She really must improve her fitness in the offseason. She lost too many 3-set-matches in this year.

The next year will be an important year for her, after that we can hopefully see if she's on the way to the top 10 or if she stuck around 25-40.

Here is an article about her press conference after the match
http://sports.okezone.com/read/2009/11/04/39/272290/lisicki-saya-melakukan-banyak-kesalahan
But it's only in indonesian :p

Short translation:
She said that she made too many mistakes (What a surprise ) and she isn't satisfied with the surface.

Well she doesn't have to win 2-0, if I'm not mistaken if Czink wins 2-1 then Sabine can afford to win 2-1 as they'll all be tied on matches won and set ratio. She won't get through outright and it'll then go down to game difference if it's like in Doha, but she'd still have a chance and as she won the same amount of games today against Rezai she should be in strong position if it goes that far.

Sabine :smash:

I totally agree with all the posts before. She really has to become more consistent and she has to improve her fitness. I hope she works on that in the off-season, stays injury free and then we will see where she can go ranking-wise.

I know,
but she needs to win 2-0 to make it sure!
But yeah, if Czink wins 2-1 against Rezai and Sabine 2-1 against Czink then all 3 would be 3-3 in sets, and then it would get difficult :p

Sabine :help: terrible loss, she really shouldn't lose to a player like Rezai.

Now she has to beat Czink in 2 sets and hope that Czink beats Rezai...

_Liv_
Nov 4th, 2009, 01:43 PM
Bine, how could you lost it?She definitely needs to work on how convert BPs,today ratio was absolutely pathetic!:o:tears::hug:.So if Rezai bt Czink tomorrow itll be over...:bigcry:

Bad loss, Sabine.:(

8 Aces, 3 DFs.

Break points won: 3 of 14 !!!:o
(Rezai: 3 of 5 !)

Total points won:
Sabine 86, Rezai 83.

Clearly a match Sabine should have won. She just didn`t make the important points.

Beat Czink, Sabine!
And Czink, beat Rezai!

Rezai won against Czink, so she is out of the tournament.

Sabine should be win now against Czink otherwise this tournament would be a big disappointment for her.

Michael!
Nov 5th, 2009, 01:53 PM
Dont know who to hate more now
Sabine, who wasted a big chance again to get many points, like she did already at the US Open....without her terrible chokes she would be top 15 already or Czink who wasted a 5-1 lead and SP in 2nd set :weirdo:
Now beat at least Czink to get some more points and to have a nice end of the year!

Sabine Lisicki - Melinda Czink 6:2 6:7 6:4

At least she ends the season with a win. :)

Nice end of the season and 160 pts for only one win is really good.
2009 was a season with many ups and downs for her, but of course, also because of many injuries etc.
She should rest now and then work hard in the off season, especially on her fitness with many off court training!
It is good that she will be seeded for sure at the AO, so hopefully she has a nice draw there, then it should be more than possible to reach the top 20 pretty soon in 2010!

Her match against Czink showed once agian, that her main problem is her inconstancy!
Some service games with 3 aces, then again games with no first serve at all and dfs, also on return, where she sometimes just makes too many fast ues and then again she seems to be able to break without problems at all!

Important for her in 2010 is also, that she should avoid defeats against weaker players (like this year, Rodionova, Rezai,Bacsinzky), as she often seems to put herself too much under pressure against those players.
With players like Martinez-Sanchez or Date left here in Bali, she would have been able to win this tournament for sure.....

I am pretty confident that she will make her way, she has a smart team around her and she knows that she has to work hard for her goals!

atleast she finish her season winning:woohoo:(not so much players can do it:angel:).Her main goal for the next season should learn how to be consistent:p.But anyway Im very happy with the season she produced, she gave us some fantastic matches and a very big title.See you in 2010,Sabbs:kiss:

Good she could finish the season with a win at least. Now I hope she has some good off season training and comes back strong, healthy and ready next year.

Nice end of the season and 160 pts for only one win is really good.

Well done, Sabine!:)

15 Aces, 7 DFs !:speakles:
Of course Sabine makes it as hard as possible to win the match...

Overall it has been a great season 2009 for Sabine:
The highlights were taking Charleston title and reaching Wimbledon QF!:yeah:
Hope Sabine will stay healthy in 2010. Sabine has to improve consistency and mental strength.:p

Wow, so many points?:lol: good for her but I think it's way too much.

Exactly.

Now hopefully Bartoli beats these annoying b...s left in SF and wins this pathetic Bali tournament.

Poor end of the season, which was somewhat expected. Sabine's performances prior Bali were not very encouraging. It doesn't really matter though in terms of her future career. Just find that "controlled agression" switch and it will yield results. Perhaps next year? Or later? Or maybe never. Let's see.

Hugh.

Wow, so many points?:lol: good for her but I think it's way too much.
Yeah it's the same as the points for a 3rd round at a slam

But it does mean Sabine moves up to 23 in the rankings for the time being...it just depends on how much further Martinez Sanchez goes.
