The Board reviewed a request to award ranking points to any player qualifying for both the 2009 Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions and the Fed Cup Final, who elects to play in the Fed Cup Final. Various options were reviewed with the Players’ Council, based on the feedback received, no change was recommended for 2009, therefore, no ranking points will be awarded in 2009 for players electing to play in the Fed Cup Final over the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions. Discussions on a potential solution for 2010 are continuing.

they shouldnt have it in same week for a start

Yeah really...I don't see why they can't just have Bali and Doha the same week...

And also an alternate at Doha would totally choose being an alternate at Doha over getting to play the MM Queen event.

Ranking Points for Fec Cup wpuld be fine, and even a big number of points for each round...would help fed cup

maybe you players could replace a bad mandatory result with fedcup...

btw, with all the complaints about players not taking Fed Cup seriously, this gets even more ironic:lol:

Flavia misses out on potentially 600 ranking points, is probably gonna drop 2 places, because she actually does take Fed Cup seriously and prefers to play for her country?

Shows once again that all WTA cares about are their stars

*will shut up now*

totally agree with you Linda...it's such a bad thing that in tennis none cares about her nationality and her country, Fed Cup is such a great event, that shows always great matches and WTA, instead of promoving that event puts sh*t on it and that time their fault is too great to pass unobserved...as Linda said it's not possible that a top 10 contender won't be even 12th seed at the Aussie just beacuse she rapresented her country instead of playing the MM queen's tournament :worship:
that's a prize for the one, like Bartoli, who hates their federation
:inlove: thank you once again WTA

why does wta even have commonwealth tournament. bali was a great tournament when it was a regular tournament on the wta tour. now it seems like a loser tournament for those who cant qualify for doha. if you want more girls in a season ending tournament make the draw bigger. also wta and itf need to get together and work together to promote a better schedule for fed cup, instead of having a pissing contest for power in tennis.

Owh this is easy, my suggestions:

-fedcup and bali not in the same week
-bali before the doha championships(how it should be)
-rulechanges regarding entry in both tournaments:
doha: "every player who wins a grandslam automatically enters SEC"
bali: "players who win ANY tournament are in the race towards bali, not just international tournaments"
-Change rankingsystem rules regarding doha points off 2 weeks early as well as other tournaments at the end of the year.

This makes it a lot more fun for us to follow as well as create better playing fields in both tournaments. I feel like they screwed up a lot with the rules in the last year. Most amazingly the 'doubling of points' at the start of the season, that was just such a fail solution. Whoever came up with that should be fired.
